UPCYCLE A CHAIR
To complement the unique global collection of artefacts drawn from the knowtrash collection (www.knowtrash.com), we want to highlight making and mending practice in Sussex. We are inviting local people to upcycle an upright chair, inspiring visitors to imagine new possibilities for an unloved piece of furniture. If you paint, sculpt, work with fabric, • The chairs will remain in the Linklater Pavilion for the duration of the exhibition and will then be auctioned (unless you stipulate otherwise). Proceeds will go to the artists, but the RLWT would appreciate a donation. • A private view will take place on July 5 and a public auction will take place on August 30. Preference will be given to chairs which show unusual and creative reuse of materials or which have a humorous, ingenious or thoughtprovoking take on reuse and sustainability. • The RLWT reserves the right to photograph and reproduce any of the chairs for publicity purposes. • Exhibition visitors will be invited to vote for their favourite chair. The chair that receives the most votes will be given a special award on August 30, before the auction takes place. About your entry
• Please provide details about yourself and the inspiration for your chair in no more than 150 words. This information may be used as an accompanying label for your chair or for publicity purposes, and may be edited. • You will be responsible for transporting your chair to the Linklater Pavilion during the week of June 30th, 2014. The exact date will be arranged with each artist. • The chairs will be displayed in an

exhibition, works that depict nudity or violence are not appropriate.

ELIGIBILITY
Artists of all ages who live within Sussex may submit an application for inclusion.

DEADLINE
Applications must be received no later than January 10 2014.

Trashup FESTIVAL
On Sunday July 6th, 2014, from 2-5pm, to coincide with a preview opening of Treasure from Trash, there will be a Trash-up festival. Reusing, repairing and recycling themed activities will take place around the Linklater Pavilion and in the Railway Land Nature Reserve throughout the afternoon, including music, puppet shows, demonstrations, talks, practical workshops, a swap shop, etc.

workshopS
We plan to offer practical workshops for children, adults and families, transforming discarded or otherwise useless everyday objects into new artefacts and/or artworks. We hope for a variety of activities, such as mosaics, jewellery, puppets, moving toys, sculptures, planters, baskets, masks, hats, musical instruments, etc. We are seeking artists and makers, who could lead a workshop on any of the dates below. Please contact us as soon as possible (see details below).

STALLS
As part of the festival, we are inviting artists, makers and menders who use found materials in their practice to have a stall advertising their workshop and/or selling their work. Participants will need to provide their own table, chairs (and shade structure). Stalls are free of charge, but the RLWT would welcome a donation.

APPLICATIONS
Applications must be received no later than May 1 2014.
