Introduction of Research
3.1: Research:-
Research is a process of investigation. An examination of a
subject from different point of view is very important. It is not just a trip to
the library to pick up a stack of material ,or picking the first hits from a
computer search .Research is a hunt for the truth .selecting area that interest
you and following up on them .Research is the way you educate yourself
3.5: Survey:-
Where study involves collecting information about the larger number
of cases, perhaps using questionnaires, it is usually described as a survey.
Survey might make use of already available data, collected for another
inventory purpose. {Data collected at one time}:
Survey will generally involve some quantities analysis .So it is vital
to report how samples were chosen, what response rates were achieved and
to comment on the validity and reliability of any instrument used.
3.7: Surveys:-
If the researcher is also a participant {e.g. a building }this
could be described as action research } An experiment may compare a
number of interventions with each other ,or may compare are [or more ]to a
control sides of group. So the same attention must be given to sampling,
response rates and instrumentation as in a survey [see above],
First, you must know how much inventory to have on hand to ensure
continuity of supply in the event of an uncharacteristic increase in either
demand and/or lead time. This quantity of inventory is called the safety
stock
