. Wheeler
and and Red Hill (Coast Guard)

All incoming soldiers with housing needs and those who have dependents must visit one of
these regional offices and meet with a wait list counselor to obtain the following information:

1. TLA entitlements
2. Assignment to respective waiting list (based on rank, family size, date of eligibility)

1. What do you need to bring to the regional office?

a. Copy of the orders bringing you to Hawaii
b. Most recent LES
c. All documents pertaining to command sponsorship of dependents not listed on
the orders
d. Documents pertaining to EFMP requirements

2. What is the wait time for housing?

The waiting time for housing on post is dynamic and changes weekly. The following are
some estimated time frames. Families are encouraged to contact the regional offices
prior to your arrival in Hawaii. AHFH will accept advanced applications and will
place you on the waiting list with a tentative date of eligibility. Due to the summer
rush, families will only be offered one home.

a. For JNCO families waiting time for housing is approximately 30-45days

b. For SNCO/CGO families waiting time for housing is 14 – 30 days
c. For FGO families waiting time is approximately 45-60 days. Based on current
projections, AHFH may not be able to accommodate all families, in this rank, in
on post housing this summer. AHFH is exploring alternate options to
accommodate the inbound FGO this summer.
d. For SO families waiting time is 14 – 30 days.
3. Will temporary furniture be available until my HHG arrive?
a. Yes, AHFH will furnish you home with loaner furniture. AHFH is able to have
the furniture in place within 3 days form the date of acceptance of the offer. A
Washer and Dreyer will be included, however all E05 and above MUST bring
their own Washer and Dreyer. The temporary Washer and Dreyer will be
removed once your HHG arrive.

4. What if I do not like the home offered?

a. You will have 24 hours to make a decision. Due to the summer rush, AHFH is
unable to offer more than one home to in bound families. If you decline the
home offered, your TLA entitlement will stop at 2400hrs of the day that the
home is ready for move in. In addition you will be placed at the bottom of the
waiting list. A second declination would result in being removed from the
waiting list for 6 months.

COMMAND SPONSORSHIP
Section III, AR 55-46 (Travel Overseas), and paragraph 1-14, AR 55-46, outline the policy on
command sponsorship of dependents who enter the command without prior approval or who are
acquired after the soldier is assigned overseas.

A request for command sponsorship will be submitted to sponsor family members who are
already in the command. To qualify, a soldier must have sufficient time in service remaining to
complete the "With Dependents" tour (36 months for Oahu, Hawaii), and must have a minimum
of 12 months service remaining on that tour after approval of command sponsorship. The
effective date of command sponsorship is the date the request is received and approved by the
DHR, not the date family members arrived in the command, or date legal custody is granted,
etc. If soldier is within 12 months of DEROS, or is on assignment instructions, he/she must
apply for an FSTE to meet the overseas service criteria for command

The following documents will be submitted for processing a request for command
sponsorship: DA Form4187 (hard copy {with the following information included in Section IV:
(l) Name, Relationship, Date of Marriage (Spouse)/Date of Birth (children only), (2) Date of
arrival in Hawaii; Current ETC date, and Current DEROS, (3) Date family member(s) arrived in
the command, and (4) Statement of understanding to complete the normal "with dependents"
tour (36 months for Oahu, Hawaii) or 12 months after approval of command sponsorship,
whichever is longer,}) and a DA Form 5888R Family Member Deployment Screening Sheet
with instructions for completing the 5888R.

Point of contact for Command Sponsorship is Mr. Epenesa at (808) 655-1804/9272 or Mr.
Sean L. Karamath at (808) 655-1374.
