First mid Term Exam: ICT

1) A word cloud is a popular visualization of words typically associated with internet keywords and text data. They are most commonly used to highlight popular or tending terms based on frequency of use and prominence. A word cloud is a beautiful, informative image that communicates much in a single glance.

The word cloud gives prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes. The images you create with this are yours to use however you like.

3) My ideal b-learning English grammar course would include a variety of activities on the computer and internet which can make the class more enjoyable and I would also use some tools inside the classroom to keep alive the relationship teacher-student.

At first, I would use some WebPages, such as http://www.funbrain.com/grammar, which can be used to teach to initial grades and re-teaching intermediate grades by playing games with animal pictures, using images and interactive activities with the aim of encourage their interest and imagination, so that I can stimulate the student’s share in class. Some other tools that can be taken into account on the development of the class are the computer themselves, this means, not only use the computers with the purpose of use the internet, but also use some of the programs that the computer has and work with them, for example, using “Microsoft Office word” to make the students create and develop activities, an example of this is making the students to write sentences, then making them to analyze the sentences grammatically so that they can learn both, composing and analyzing sentences. This kind of activity can be more effective for students than for example making them to work in groups with activities given by me.

http://moviesegmentstoassessgrammargoals.blogspot.com.ar/, this page can provide us some activities for practicing grammar and it also shows some videos to make learning more interesting and with some fun.

On the other hand, activities made by me without including the use of any electronic gadget are just as effective as those of the e-learning. Some activities that my ideal b-learning course would include are, for example giving the students a word-imaged puzzle and making them to put it together, so that they can apart from learning enjoy their classes.

4)

http://www.educationworld.com/a_tech/five-tips-for-using-evernote-in-the-classroom.shtml: this type of experience could be replicated in our schools because it makes use of many activities with the usage of computers in class. Just to mention some of them:

- With this program the teacher can share an activity with students at the same time

5) If I were a teacher wanting my students to learn DESCRIPTION OF PEOPLE, I would make a good use of the technological knowledge they have nowadays and I would help them to learn to make a complete description of people with it. For this, I would use this website

0people, which gives many exercises that can be used in the description of people. Here we can make use of any exercise, such as the one that makes the students to join images with the words besides, or the one that makes the students complete a crossword taking as references the images

that are given to them.

this is another website that could help students to learn about vocabulary for description, but this page has the characteristic of not having exercises, it only gives us the description word, the meaning of it and a sentence in which we could use it. A page like this could be useful for group activities in the classroom.

6)

I think that the classes were in some way subdued, without any kind of didactic and completely silenced because there was no communication between the “teacher” and the students, due to the relationship was only between students and the computer which made them work more to solve their doubts about any problem they had according to the questionnaire.

I think that the first stage of CALL didn’t succeed because the class had became monotonous and boring for students, the reason is just because the class was practically made by a computer and as we know, computers may know many things but teaching and keeping kid´s attention alive is not one of those things. Another important point to consider the reasons of CALL´s failure is that, as the text mentioned, the maintenance of the computers was very expensive.
