(The couple sits while the congregation stands)
Dearly bealoved, we are gathered here in the presence of God and before this
congregation , to join this man ADEBAMBO IDOWU and this this woman
MODUPE OLAWUMI in holy matrimony.

Marriage is an holy estate instituted by God and commanded in the scripture as

honourable to all who enter it lawfully and in true love. It was confirmed by
Christ’s solemn words and hallowed by is presence at the marriage feast in Cana
of Galilee, and is declared by the great apostle Paul as signifying the mystical
union between Christ and the church.

Therefore it is ought not to be entered into it lightly, unadvisedly or wantonly but

thoughtfully, reverently, discretly, soberly and in the fear of God, duly considering
the causes for which it was ordained.

FIRSTLY: Marriage was ordained for companionship, mutual societal help, and
comfort, which husband and wife ought to have for each other, both in prosperity
and adversity. For this cause, a man shall leave his farther and mother to cleave to
his wife and the two shall become one flesh.

SECONDLY: it was ordained that the natural instinct and affection implanted by
God in his creatures should be hallowed ad directed aright, that those who are
called of God to his Holy Estate should continue there in pureness of living.

Thus, it is for the protection against all forms of sexual immoralities, like lusting
and fornication, that such a person as have not the rare gift of celibacy right marry,
and keep themselves undefiled members of the body of Christ for it is better to
marry that to burn; and again in other to avoid fornication, let every man have is
own wife and let every woman have is own husband.

THIRDLY: it was ordained for the procreation of children to be brought up in the

knowledge, fear and nurture of the lord and to the praise of his Holy Name.

Into this holy estate of marriage these two young persons, BAMBO and DUPE come
now to be joined.
Therefore, if anyone can show any just cause why they may not be lawfully joined
together in marriage, let him now speak or else hereafter forever hold his/her peace.

CHARGE AND DECLARATION

(The couple stands while the congregation sits)
I require and charge you both, ADEBAMBO and MODUPE as you will answer at
the dreadful day of judgement when the secrets and motives of all hearts shall be
disclosed, that if either of you know any impediment why you may not be lawfully
joined together in marriage, please confess it now, (pause). Knowing for sure that if
two persons are joined together other than as God’s word allows, their marriage is not
lawful.
