BSA
Our mission is to articulate the interests and opinions of AfricanAmerican students on the campus the University of Houston-Downtown. BSA promotes projects and events beneficial to the student body, and to provide a voice for African-American students. BSA serves to establish an unshakeable bond between black students, black faculty and the general Houston community to promote the development of educational opportunities and to increase awareness of black culture. The group provides a central forum for the open dialogue of political, spiritual, cultural, economic, social and academic conditions in the black community

. .

We promote unity within our organization and especially within the world we live, we believe that unity is strength and that great things can be achieved through collaboration.

Not everything that is faced can be changed, but nothing can be changed until it is faced

I want to express how proud I am of all of you, you are working hard and its paying off. We are widely known around campus and as of now we have 46 ACTIVE members. Several of you will have your 30 hours completed soon to qualify for the leadership conference in January. We received a $100 sponsorship for our tshirt. If we can get $300 more dollars we may be able to get shirts for all of you for free. Ask the companies you work for, church or small business if they want to put their logo on our t-shirts for $100 per logo. You can find information on our website. http://uhdbsa.wix.com/uhdbsa#!sponsorus/c14g0 Please let me know when you will be able to help our endorsed candidates. You will receive hours. They need help at the polls. If you have some free time, let me know. MAKE SURE YOU VOTE. If you have problems at the polls please let me know immediately. Regards, Tarah

The Texas Legislative Program, sponsored by State Senator Rodney Ellis and administered by the Mickey Leland Center on World Hunger and Peace, provides undergraduate and graduate students with the opportunity to serve as interns in the Texas Legislature, various state agencies, local and federal government, and nonprofit organizations. It is almost sold out December 2013 Graduates: President Tarah is allowing December graduates to fundraise for their stoles since the 60 hour benchmark is too difficult to attain in 1 semester. If this applies to you, please provide proof you are graduating this December and ask the Membership Director (Lakesha) to give you the names/numbers of whom else are graduating and get with the Fundraising Committee to set up the fundraiser. YOU HAVE to work the fundraiser, not the fundraising committee (unless they want to help you). General Meeting The next general meeting will be November 20,2013 at 4:00 pm.
