Events Related to the Crash of American Airlines Flight 587 On Sunday, November 18, a memorial service for the victims of Flight 587 was held at Jacob Riis Park in the Rockaways. Among the four thousand mourners that attended the hour-long, multi-faith service were friends and relatives of the victims, and residents of the Belle Harbor neighborhood, the crash site from which 5 people also perished. Yourself, Gov. George Pataki, Senators Hiiliary Rodham Clinton Charles Schumer,. and representatives from the Dominican Republic including the Mayor of Santo Domingo, Hugo Tolentino Dipp, the Secretary of State for Foreign Relations, and Isabela Mejia de Grullon, the sister of the president attended the service. Events Related to the World Trade Center Incident — To date, seventeen funerals and/or memorial services have been conducted for members of the NYPD killed in the line of duty at the World Trade Center, including those for: Police Officer Vincent Danz, Police Officer Stephen Driscoll, Police Officer Brian McDonnell, Police Officer Paul Tally, Police Officer Glenn Pettit, Police Officer Santos Valentin, Police Officer Ronald Kloepfer, Police Officer Walter Weaver, Detective Claude Richards, Sergeant John Coughlin, Police Officer Thomas Langone, Police Officer James Leahy, Detective Joseph Vigiano, Police Officer Robert Fazio, Police Officer John W. Perry, Police Officer John D'Allara, and Sergeant Michael Curtin.
