Remarks : Below notes shall be mentioned in the Remarks column where applicable:Note 1: The Master is advised that the propeller will not be fully immersed during this step / sequence. Note 2: The Master is advised that bridge visibility forward will be reduced during this step / sequence. Note 3: This step / sequence is to be carried out in calm seas only. Note 4: This step / sequence may be carried out in calm to moderate seas Note 5: This step / sequence may be carried out in moderate to rough seas. Note 6: In the critical fill range 70%-95% this step / sequence is to be carried out in calm to moderate seas only. Note 7:Where two ballast pumps are used for filling purposes, when the fill level reaches 80% - 90%, then only one of the pumps is to be deployed. Note 8: Steps which utilize Flow-Through Method should be mentioned "Flow-Through Method" and details filled in the table below.

Atleast 4 Intermediate condition sequences to be prepared. Intermediate ballast conditions are conditions where the vessel is partly loaded hence has to carry some ballast for the purpose of propeller immersion and adequate heavy weather draft. Container and RO-RO vessels may need more than 4 intermediate sequences depending on her trading pattern.

Note: It may not be pssible to completely empty out a ballast tank or ballast hold due to exceeding of permissible stress factors. In such cases a sequence combining the sequential and flowthrough method of exchange will need to be prepared and followed.
