What is Tanzania convention?


Tanzania convention is a project that is aimed at a total reorientation of all Tanzanians in the Diaspora to aim high, high and higher socially, culturally, economically and politically. It is a project aimed at instilling patriotic spirit in the Tanzanian citizenry abroad inspired by the knowledge and recitation of the national anthem. It is to celebrate those that have given their best and rose from humble positions epitomising success and progress in their field of endeavours.

The Award
As a way of re-branding, motivating and encouraging our leaders and fellow compatriots New Deal Africa Tanzania achievement awards celebrated around the Tanzanias independence celebrations yearly to honour individuals, government and corporate institutions who have contributed to the development / image of the country. The award is for those that excelled in their field, business pursuit or just been a Tanzanian with an exceptional story etc. The award is open to all those that are Tanzanians, friends of Tanzania, Tanzania investors and Arising partners for Tanzanias success both globally and at home. This years event is unique in the sense that Tanzania is celebrating her 52nd years of independence. The sacrifices and contributions of our founding fathers; the remarkable stories of our citizens in the contemporary era are all remembered and recognized. The evening provides an opportunity for you to join us in celebrating the vital work of Tanzanians in the Diaspora and friends of Tanzania as well as helping to deliver our mission to bring the UK and Tanzania closer together

through our pioneering activities in business, policy and culture. Funds raised from the dinner contribute directly towards the success of our programmes; highlights of which include our conferences (Tanzania Convention-Trade and investment Forum), policy briefings , and our film,culture and literature festivals. We present these annual awards to those individuals who exemplify the concept of the Servant Leader. These awards highlight the links between economic success, professional excellence accompanied by moral leadership, and service to society. By recognising individuals who embody the Servant Leader ideal, we seek to encourage widespread recognition and adoption of these values among the global Great lakes community.

Awarded to the individual or charity that demonstrates the most impressive impact in the area of Educational Advancement. This organisation makes learning possible for students of all ages, from pre-school to adult education, and provides opportunities that help make schools more effective and more accessible to students of all backgrounds. This award is for Educational Advancement will go to the organisation that has made the greatest strides to improve education initiatives. 1. Teacher Support 2. Scholarships 3. Hunger Relief & Social Support Services


Awarded to the individual or charity that demonstrates the most impressive impact in the area of Hunger and Poverty Relief. This organisation may provide assistance to the homeless through social services and advocacy, hunger relief programs for the needy, or focus its efforts on aiding the impoverished anywhere they can operate. It works to provide shelter for those without roofs over their heads and drafts plans for long-term poverty alleviation especially in Africa or around the world. This Award is for Hunger and Poverty Relief will go to the organisation that Teaches a man to fish, puts food on the tables and hope in the hearts of Africas and the world's impoverished communities. 1. Awarded to the individual, charity or any organisation which isnt a charity (conditions apply*) that demonstrates the most impressive impact in the area of Human Rights. This organisation protects our communities and our country by defending civil rights, fighting prejudice, and promoting the fundamental freedoms that should be enjoyed by all people. This award for Human Rights will go to the organisation that has most tirelessly and passionately defended the dignity and basic rights of the individual. 1. Human Trafficking & Civil Rights 2. Awarded to the individual or charity that demonstrates the most impressive impact in the area of Health and Wellbeing. This organisation may work to cure or treat diseases, support our sick and disabled, seek improvements in medical treatments, or promote awareness of particular health risks. Whether it is providing direct medical services, educating the public, or focusing on research, the winner for Health and Wellbeing will be an organisation that has made serious strides in improving health across the globe. 1. This organisation works throughout Africa or around the world to promote peace, and to provide relief and development services where they are needed the most. It may provide economic, educational, positive media & reporting and agricultural development services, foreign policy research and advocacy; or distribute donated medical, food, agriculture, and other supplies to those in need. The Award for Disaster Relief and Aid will go to the organisation whose work has provided the most comfort during times of crisis in Africa or around the globe. 1. Awarded to the individual or charity that demonstrates the most impressive impact in the area of general human services. It strengthens its community, by caring for the elderly, or nurturing the young. African Achievers International Innovation Award for the Empowerment of Women and Girls is awarded to the individual or charity that seeks to find and bring to scale the most pioneering approaches to the political, economic and social empowerment of women and girls in Africa and around the globe. Founded on the premise that the

This organisation or individual may provide and leverage support or funding and other resources that support the quality of life, housing, neighbourhood revitalization and human services. They may also provide assistance to the grassroots programs, the homeless or street kids through social services and advocacy, economic development and poverty relief programs for the needy, or focus its efforts on aiding the impoverished anywhere they can operate. Community Development & Enhancement


The Community Development & Enhancement Award is awarded to the individual or charity that demonstrates the most impressive impact in the area which aims to stimulate tourism, promote the economy, create jobs, and/or a better quality of life. Entries could also be from cultural activities, museums, visitor and convention bureaus, economic development councils, and other similar institutions/organizations, including Country programs and projects, which promote and generate ecotourism and/or economic development. Charities or individuals should be running projects used to create changes in the community that also may improve the neighbourhoods image. To be considered, projects will do one or more of the following: 1. increase employment and economic opportunities 2. rehabilitate and upgrade residential housing 3. preserve wildlife, marine and recreational areas for public enjoyment 4. improve public safety 5. enhance neighbourhood appearance or cleanliness 6. improve viability of commercial areas and enhance the business environment 7. provide programs and training opportunities to benefit youth and elderly 8. create long-term improvements for neighbourhood liveability.

Philanthropic Business of the Year (Corporate Social Responsibility)


Awarded to the business whose submission most successfully demonstrates its commitment to using the company's position, resources, and influence in service of broader philanthropic aims and best exemplifies a devotion to bettering lives in its community. The Philanthropic Business of the Year will demonstrate through consistent action a fuller vision of the modern company, one that embodies the

virtues of a good neighbour, giving back to those around it in true appreciation of the customers and the society that make its business possible. This will be a business whose CSR aims to embrace responsibility for the company's actions and encourage a positive impact through its activities on the environment, consumers, employees, communities, stakeholders and all other members of the public sphere who may also be considered as stakeholders.

Volunteer of the Year


Awarded to the individual whose submission best embodies the ideal qualities of a volunteer: passion, perseverance, and heart. The Volunteer of the Year will be an individual that continuously gives his or her time and energy to further a noble cause and benefit others without financial compensation. (This can be anyone of any age)
