Psychomotor
"
The psychomotor doman ncudes physca movement, coordnaton, and use
of the motor-sk areas. Deveopment of these sks requres practce and s
measured n terms of speed, precson, dstance, procedures, or technques n
executon. The seven ma|or categores sted n order are:

Percepton: The abty to use sensory cues to gude motor actvty. Ths ranges
from sensory stmuaton, through cue seecton, to transaton.Exampes:
Detects non-verba communcaton cues. Estmate where a ba w and after t
s thrown and then movng to the correct ocaton to catch the ba. Ad|usts
heat of stove to correct temperature by sme and taste of food. Ad|usts the
heght of the forks on a forkft by comparng where the forks are n reaton to
the paet.
Keywords: chooses, descrbes, detects, dfferentates, dstngushes, dentfes,
soates, reates, seects.Set: Readness to act. It ncudes menta, physca, and
emotona sets. These three sets are dspostons that predetermne a
personws response to dfferent stuatons (sometmes caed
mndsets).Exampes: Knows and acts upon a sequence of steps n a
manufacturng process. Recognze onews abtes and mtatons. Shows
desre to earn a new process (motvaton). NOTE: Ths subdvson of
Psychomotor s cosey reated wth the "Respondng to phenomena"
subdvson of the Affectve doman.
Keywords: begns, dspays, expans, moves, proceeds, reacts, shows, states,
vounteers.Guded response: The eary stages n earnng a compex sk that
ncudes mtaton and tra and error. Adequacy of performance s acheved by
practcng.Exampes: Performs a mathematca equaton as demonstrated.
Foows nstructons to bud a mode. Responds hand-sgnas of nstructor whe
earnng to operate a forkft.
Keywords: copes, traces, foows, react, reproduce, respondsMechansm: Ths
s the ntermedate stage n earnng a compex sk. Learned responses have
become habtua and the movements can be performed wth some confdence
and profcency. Exampes: Use a persona computer. Repar a eakng faucet.
Drve a car.
Keywords: assembes, cabrates, constructs, dsmantes, dspays, fastens,
fxes, grnds, heats, manpuates, measures, mends, mxes, organzes,
sketches.Compex Overt Response: The skfu performance of motor acts that
nvove compex movement patterns. Profcency s ndcated by a quck,
accurate, and hghy coordnated performance, requrng a mnmum of
energy. Ths category ncudes performng wthout hestaton, and automatc
performance. For exampe, payers are often utter sounds of satsfacton or
expetves as soon as they ht a tenns ba or throw a footba, because they
can te by the fee of the act what the resut w
produce.Exampes: Maneuvers a car nto a tght parae parkng spot.
Operates a computer qucky and accuratey. Dspays competence whe
payng the pano.
Keywords: assembes, buds, cabrates, constructs, dsmantes, dspays,
fastens, fxes, grnds, heats, manpuates, measures, mends, mxes, organzes,
sketches. NOTE: The key words are the same as Mechansm, but w have
adverbs or ad|ectves that ndcate that the performance s qucker, better,
more accurate, etc.Adaptaton: Sks are we deveoped and the ndvdua can
modfy movement patterns to ft speca requrements.Exampes: Responds
effectvey to unexpected experences. Modfes nstructon to meet the needs
of the earners. Perform a task wth a machne that t was not orgnay
ntended to do (machne s not damaged and there s no danger n performng
the new task).
Keywords: adapts, aters, changes, rearranges, reorganzes, revses,
vares.Orgnaton: Creatng new movement patterns to ft a partcuar stuaton
or specfc probem. Learnng outcomes emphasze creatvty based upon
hghy deveoped sks.Exampes: Constructs a new theory. Deveops a new
and comprehensve tranng programmng. Creates a new gymnastc routne.
Keywords: arranges, buds, combnes, composes, constructs, creates, desgns,
ntate, makes, orgnates.
