Mr. Rex Tillerson ExxonMobil Corporation 5959 Las Colinas Blvd. Irving, TX 75039 Re: The Open Letter in Sunday’s Los Angeles Times Dear Mr. Tillerson, Enclosed is yesterday’s (Sunday, November 10) Los Angeles Times full page Open Letter. It is addressed specifically to you and other highly influential parents. I hope you will make a public response to it. Please pay attention to the following paragraphs: “This letter is not going to make the case for the reality of climate change. Whatever you might say in public, you clearly accept its reality; your governments, organizations, and companies are already strategizing around how to cope with it. The purpose of this letter is to express moral outrage.” If you are the head of an energy company, stop extracting fossil fuels from the ground and stop selling them. Use your vast wealth to develop and promote renewable sources of energy. Refuse to do business with companies doing anything less.” This is essentially what I have been promoting to you during the past nineteen months, since March 25, 2012. Retire the Refineries -- Begin with one Right Away Compel Your Colleagues to Begin Scheduling the Retirement of All Refineries Reinvent: Replace Refineries with Renewables Rebrand: Re-energized -- Clean Fuels for life
I will continue to remind you about your speech at the Boy Scouts of America Annual Meeting in May (video http://bit.ly/rex-main-thing). Imagine yourself the captain of a ship of state leading a change of course toward a world of lifepreserving carbon-free energy.
