Jolly Breaks Through Fundraising Milestone & Announces Powerhouse Finance Co-chairs
Jolly Campaign Raises More Than $100,000 Indian Shores, Fla. David Jolly today announced he has received more than $100,000 in campaign contributions for his bid to be the Republican nominee for Floridas 13th Congressional District. Jolly also announced former U.S. Ambassador Mel Sembler and St. Petersburg Businessmen, Jim MacDougald and Bill Edwards, have all signed on to serve as campaign finance co-chairs. Less than a week after we officially launched our campaign for Floridas 13th Congressional District, I am proud to announce that our supporters have already helped us raise more than $100,000, said Jolly. Now, with the addition of these three amazing finance co-chairs, we will undoubtedly be able to take our campaign to the next level and to every household in Pinellas County. I want to thank Ambassador Sembler, Bill Edwards and Jim MacDougald for their support and willingness to help our campaign, and I am excited to be a part of the momentum their presence will surely bring. Mel Sembler, Finance Co-chair: Sembler currently serves as the Chairman of the Board of The Sembler Company, a company he founded, and has previously served as the U.S. Ambassador to Italy, Australia and Nauru; Finance Chairman for the Republican National Committee (RNC); Floridas National Committeeman to the RNC and Finance Co-chair of The American Bicentennial Presidential Inaugural. Sembler is a resident advisor of the Florida Council of 100 and serves on several boards. Jim MacDougald, Finance Co-chair: MacDougald is a St. Petersburg-based businessman and philanthropist, and current President of Westshores Ventures, Inc. He and his wife, Suzanne, founded ABR Information Services, Inc., which was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the Best 200 Small Companies in America, three years in a row, and one of the Fastest-Growing Public Companies in America by Fortune Magazine before merging with Ceridian Corporation in 2000. He has served as Finance Co-chair for the RNC in Florida and Co-chair for the Republican Party of Florida campaign fundraising under Governor Jeb Bush. (MORE)

Bill Edwards, Finance Co-chair: Edwards is the CEO of St. Petersburg-based Mortgage Investors Corp. and the Edwards Group, which includes the music production and distribution company, Big 3 Entertainment; the concert promotion company Bill Edwards Presents; the Club at Treasure Island; the Crystal Palms Hotel and the Algiers at Treasure Island. Since announcing his campaign, Jolly has received the support of a growing list of local and regional endorsers of his bid for Floridas 13th Congressional District seat, including that of Sembler, MacDougald and Edwards, as well as former U.S. Deputy Secretary of Defense and U.S. Secretary of the Navy Gordon England, U.S. Representative Richard Nugent (R-Spring Hill), State Representative Larry Ahern (R-Seminole), former St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker, former Pinellas County Commissioner and School Board Member Nancy Bostock, former State Senator and City of Dunedin Mayor Jerry Rehm, City of Seminole Mayor Leslie Waters, former Pinellas Park Mayor Bill Mischler, St. Petersburg Businessman Bill Hough and Pinellas County Businessman Jim Holton. A special primary election has been set for January 14, 2014, and a special general election will be held March 11, 2014. Jolly is a fifth-generation Floridian who has spent his entire career working on behalf of the people of Pinellas County, advancing and supporting community interests in the U.S. Congress and serving in multiple civic and community leadership roles here at home. He is a candidate with unparalleled Congressional experience, including serving Pinellas County residents as General Counsel to the late Congressman Bill Young during some of Washingtons most challenging times.
