Philippines had been the leading exporter of rice in Southeast Asia in the late 196 !s to 19" !s. #ac$ then% representatives from different countries &ere sent to attend classes on ho& to improve rice 'uality but no&% countries li$e (ietnam and )hailand has surpassed the Philippines in terms of producing and exporting rice. *ronically spea$ing% the leading exporter before became the top rice importer today. Philippines have been experiencing rice shortage from time to time+ experts say that &e no& lac$ the ability to yield good 'uality rice plants.
,ne potential solution to help solve this crisis is the process called -.lectro culture/. )his process is &itnessed in the appearance of plants after thunderstorm and under the po&er lines. ,bservations sho& that the plants loo$ healthier under a thunderstorm because the dusts and small particles in its leaves are &ashed by the rain. )he proper reason for that is after a thunderstorm% plants ma$e use of the electric current produced by the lightning. After that% the plants &idely open its roots containing the guard cells &hich allo& the passage of electric current to increase the speed of production of their food.
