    This document is a legal studies research paper that examines the concept of slavery and how it continues to evolve and perfect itself over time. Some key points: 1) Slavery did not end with legal emancipation, but continued in the forms of segregation and newer forms of "neosegregation" that still follow racial lines. 2) Attempts to gain legal rights and equality still fail to overcome slavery because they operate within the same legal system that originated in and supports slavery. 3) For a slave to be truly liberated, everything must change, including the entire legal framework that has always served the interests of slavery.
