Article I. Continuous Open Bidding

  • 1. The Continuous Open Bidding (COB) process will follow the guidelines set forth in the NPC Manual of Information (MOI). Bids to membership may be distributed throughout the year, except between the last Friday of the fall semester and the distribution of bids at the conclusion of Formal Membership Recruitment (FMR).

Article II. Formal Membership Recruitment

  • 1. General Rules

    • a. All university policies, including those related to campus facilities must be followed.

    • b. All members, including alumnae and uninitiated members, are responsible for knowing and observing these Panhellenic Membership Recruitment Rules, policies, and unanimous agreements, as outlined in the MOI, 18 th Edition.

    • c. The use of alcoholic beverages and the participation of men in membership recruitment and bid day activities are prohibited.

    • d. FMR is considered to extend for 24 hours after bids have been distributed.

    • e. Tables and chairs provided for the chapter’s space may be used, as well as rented tables and chairs from outside companies. A projector, screen, and speakers can be used on days slideshows are permitted. No other equipment may be used.

    • f. Flat water may be served. Cups will be provided by the Panhellenic Recruitment Team (PRT).

    • g. Chapters cannot require members to purchase any items, including but not limited to, shoes, clothes, makeup, or accessories.

    • h. All events are to be held on campus.

    • i. If Burns Recreation Center is used, the PRT will provide a curtain to partition the large gym into a smaller space.

    • j. Event party forms, videos (including any videos from the inter/national organization), are due on the third Friday of November. The PRT, in coordination with Chapter Recruitment Advisors, will approve event party forms and videos.

    • k. All posters must be provided in PDF form to the PRT by the first day of class of the spring semester at 5pm.

  • 2. Round One

    • a. Focus: Sisterhood

    • b. Dress: Panhellenic t-shirt provided by the PRT. Bottoms and shoes are to be determined by the chapter.

    • c. Activities: Songs are permitted upon entrance and exit of Potential New Member’s (PNM) but are not required. Speeches about sisterhood may be given. No slideshows, videos, or music of any kind.

    • d. Decor: White tablecloths provided by the PRT may be used. No centerpieces, decorations, or memorabilia tables. Large Greek letters may be displayed.

    • e. Necessary items: Each chapter will provide two PDFs: one outlining financial obligations, and one outlining the organization’s values, founding dates, official mascots, etc. Images may be used. Posters will be 22” tall by 34” wide and will be printed out by the PRT. All posters are subject to approval by the PRT.

    Round Two

    • a. Focus: Philanthropy

    • b. Dress: Attire to be determined by the chapter.

    • c. Activities: Songs are permitted upon entrance and exit of PNM’s, but are not required. Speeches may be given. A slideshow or video relating to the chapter philanthropy may be shown, including videos provided by inter/national organizations. A philanthropy activity is allowed.

    • d. Decor: White tablecloths provided by the PRT may be used. No centerpieces, decorations, or memorabilia tables. Large Greek letters may be displayed.

    • e. Necessary items: Each chapter will provide two PDFs: one outlining financial obligations, and one outlining the organization’s philanthropy. Images may be used. Posters will be 22” tall by 34” wide and will be printed out by the PRT. All posters are subject to approval by the PRT.

    • 4. Round Three

      • a. Focus: Preference

      • b. Dress: Dress to be determined by the chapter.

      • c. Activities: Sorority choice. Preference ceremonies may be performed. Songs are permitted throughout the event.

      • d. Decor: White or black tablecloths provided by the PRT may be used. Centerpieces may be used. Descriptions of all items must be submitted and approved with the party plan. Chapters are only permitted to black out windows with a direct public sight line when blinds are not available. Chapters are not permitted to build internal structures or create multiple rooms within their assigned space. Large Greek letters may be displayed.

  • 5. Round Four

    • a. Focus: Bid Distribution and Bid Night

    • b. Dress: Dress to be determined by the chapter.

    • c. Activities: Sorority choice. Bid Night activities must conclude by the time designated by the University.

  • Article III. Finance, Fines, and Violations

    • 1. Receipts will be due two weeks after completion of FMR and must include all expenses, both purchases and donations associated with FMR.

    • 2. Alleged violations shall be handled in accordance with the guidelines set by the NPC MOI. One of the Co-VPs of NPC Recruitment on Greek Council shall be designated to serve in the role as the College Panhellenic President, as indicated in the MOI.

    • 3. Unapproved event items during FMR may result in immediate confiscation and subject to the appropriate fine(s).

    • 4. All chapters will be assessed for fines after the completion of FMR according to Appendix A.

    Article V. Review

    • 1. An annual review of this document should occur after FMR by the Panhellenic Recruitment Committee. These standing rules may be revised by majority vote of the NPC sororities at LMU.
