Lesson Plan Template Class/Subject: CI 403/U.S.

History Date: October 17, 2013 Student Objectives/Student Outcomes: Students should be able to answer questions on the Constitution from memory. Understanding of the Amendments, Bill of Rights, and United States government. Content Standards: (16.B.5b) Analyze how United States political history has been influenced by the nations economic, social, and environmental history CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RH.11-12.10 By the end of grade 12, read and comprehend history/social studies texts in the grades 11CCR text CCSS.ELA-Literacy.RH.11-12.1 Cite specific textual evidence to support analysis of primary and secondary sources, connecting insights gained from specific details to an understanding of the text as a whole. Materials/Resources/Technology: White Board for tallying up points for jeopardy game Powerpoint for the jeopardy game Textbooks in case students need to look up the answers to the game questions. Teachers Goals: I want students to be able to understand how the United States Constitution works in relation to our country. I want students to be able to analyze the Amendments and how they have affected our history. I want students to have the knowledge necessary in order to effectively and efficiently complete the Constitution Test. Time: 5 min Start of Class: begin by putting students in 2 teams, one on each side of the room. Ask students what they feel is the most interesting part of the Constitution, and then what they feel is the most challenging part of remembering the Constitution. Introduction of Lesson: Tell them that this information will come in handy, because we are playing a jeopardy review game today in order to prepare them for the Constitution Exam. This way, they can all practice together.

Lesson Instruction: Explain how jeopardy/trivia game works (for those who have never played), and proceed to officiate the game while the students are in two separate teams; tally up points for each question correct. If neither team has the right answer, then instruct them to look it up in their books. Assessments/Checks for Understanding: Game will be an indicator of whether they understand the material or not. For those questions that they had to look up, place more emphasis on these points at the end of the lesson to re-emphasize those aspects of the reading. Closure/Wrap-up/Review: tally up points. Re-emphasis of the questions that the students did not know the answers to should be discussed, to reinforce those previously unknown ideas. Self-Assessment: Did the students know the answers to most questions? Could they find the answers in the text book if they didnt know the answer? Do they seem prepared for the test?
