The MPHTC is one of thirty-three training centers nationwide funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Bureau of Health Professions. These public health training centers, located across the country at schools of public health, assess the learning needs of the public health workforce and provide training to meet those needs.

Contracting with these agencies for services to tribes is an exception and is kept in balance in order to maintain our independence.

James Blessman, MD, MPH, is the medical director for the Detroit Department of Health and Wellness Promotion (Detroit DHWP) and assistant professor in the Division of Occupational Medicine.
