hat had occured last #o"em$er %, &'() in Philippines especially in the central area of Philippines no!n as *isayas !hen the strongest typhoon in the !orld +aiyan , no!n as -olanda in Philippines. hit this particular area/ I am 0lena Pedrosa 1ischnio!s i the !ife of Stefan 1ischnio!s i, I reside presently in 2erlin/ I come from Philippines and my home to!n is Palo, Leyte/ The name of the "illage !here I gro! up is Tacuranga/ Palo is composed of )) "illages and it is ( of many to!ns that is se"erely destroyed $y typhoon +aiyan/ My !hole family li"e there/ Fortune and a ind of Miracle that all mem$ers of my family sur"i"ed and no$ody !as in3ured though no! homeless $ut still "ery than ful for the gift of second life/ Though my family is also much affected it does not stop us from helping our neigh$ors to reco"er and continue the life no matter ho! difficult it !ill $e/ It is 45round 6ero4 no! as my family descri$ed and most of my neigh$orhood don4t no! ho! they !ill start/ There are many donations in cash and in ind from all o"er the !orld, !hich I am much than ful for the concern of the people around the glo$e/ +o!e"er, due to the pro$lem of corruption of the Philippine go"ernment !hich is not hidden anymore, the self interests of many go"ernment officials ma e it difficult for these donations to reach the real "ictims/ It is no! o"er a !ee since the catastrophe happened, until no! still many dead $odies are not reco"ered/ Still many are missing, still many hungered and no! dying from hunger and thirst and illnesses/ My heart is $rea ing anytime my family updated me that the go"ernment help is literally so slo!/ That many officials tried to corrupt the donations in any !ay they can/ I am ashamed !hat ind of go"ernment !e ha"e $ut this don4t stop me to ma e a !ay to help my "illage !here I gro! up, !here many of the !onderful memories stayed and the nice people !ho $ecame a part of moulding my life/ I am not e"en con"inced that this millions of dollars that is gi"en as help !ill really go to the "ictims and if e"er, it !ill ta e long and not the !hole amount that is really alotted to the "ictims !ill $e gi"en, instead most of it !ill 3ust go to the poc et of greedy officials/ 7orruption in Philippines is se"ere more se"ere than +aiyan I should say/ From the highest officilas to the lo!est official in the "illages mostly are corrupt/ In any department of the go"ernment corruption is present, e"en non 8 go"ernment organi9ations are used $y them 3ust to ha"e means and !ays to corrupt either the people or non 8 human resources/ Due to this pro$lems I came to an idea of as ing for donations that !ill go straight to my "illage in the fastest !ay/ This time my family is sheltering : families, they li"e in tents and helping each other to reco"er and continue life and trying to ma e life normal 3ust li e $efore/ 2ut our resources is also limited/ 1e cannot ma e it longer $ecause my family lost also ; houses and they themsel"es need food and money for the family itself and for restoration of the ; houses/ <ur financial status can accommodate us to restore our houses and start ane!/ 2ut as a human $eing it is hard and really difficult to !atch the neigh$ors suffering/ If !e !ill not help them !ho else/ It !ill $e un$eara$le !atching them hungered and suffering from thirst and illnesses or !orst dying/ I as you to please help me and my family help our neigh$ors, to let them feel that during calamities they4re not forsa en/ Most of my co="illagers don4t rely in the go"ernment anymore/ 1e ma e our o!n !ays to ma e our li"es $etter especially during catastrophes/ 2ut this !ill $e easier through the help of generous people !ho are al!ays ready to help those in need/
