Week 3 Challenge - "Got Water?

" This week we reminded you of the importance of drinking enough water daily and asked you to drink eight 8 ounce glasses of water each day of this week. For some of us drinking enough water is not as easy as it seems. Check out the suggestions you submitted on how to increase your H2O intake!

Take a water bottle with you everywhere you go. Running errands, Christmas shopping? Drink water at stop lights, drink before heading into a store, and drink again when you return to your vehicle. ~ Jane Boettcher I increase my water consumption by using the 5 calorie drink flavor mixes in my water. There are several brands and flavors; Crystal Light, Kool-Aid, the store brands, and others. Instead of a 100 plus calories sugary drink, you are consuming 5 calories and they taste GREAT! ~ Vanessa Dancy I bought a water bottle that measures how many oz are in it. When I get done with one 22 oz bottle I put a check mark. So when I get to three I know I have met my daily intake of water. ~ Andy Jacobson Place frozen berries into your water bottle. During Black Friday shopping, I picked myself up a reusable water bottle for the gym. I've already started using it! So easy to remember to drink the water when it's already poured and it catches your eye because it's new. ~ Christy Burghardt I always like to have a soda at supper time with my meal, but now I substituted my soda for tea and a glass a water. ~ Tracy Geiger I started walking on my 2 breaks that I get at work since we started the B.B . so ,I added 2 water bottles in my walk. I use them for weight each bottles has 16.9oz.I drink my water after Im done walking and on top of that I also drink my 20oz. of water in my Orbis bottle. ~ Virginia Armas I get tired of drinking plain water so each day I make a large pitcher of unsweetened ice tea using herbal teas. There is no caffeine or calories. I track calories and water on an app called my fitness pal. ~ Sharon Swatscheno How I drink more water: when I go to restaurants I order water because its cheaper, I make spicy food because it burns my mouth making we want to drink more!, and I bring sugar free flavor packets to work to mix in my water bottle so I dont get pop out of the machine. ~ Kristan Vanderweide Liquid water enhancer. Many flavors available with no calories added. ~ Eleni Fosses I have a 32 oz water bottle that I keep at my desk and every day, at least during the morning hours, I try to drink a 32 oz bottle per hour so I end up drinking anywhere from 4-6 32 oz water bottles every work day. ~ Ryan Angell I keep a cup at my desk that holds 32 ounces. Most days I drink 32 ounce of water in the mornings. If I dont have another cup in the afternoon, then I drink additional water when Im at home. I add sugar free water flavoring packets to my water. ~ Kathy Avalos I chose to get a larger water bottle: 24 ounces is the container size you see in the photo. (I have the same at home). I thought 6-8ounce glasses of water was the normal recommended amount. Since the wellness challenge states, 8-8ounce glasses, I drink two of these at work, and one at home. I am not a huge water drinker so this is a challenge for me. I bought "smart water" so I could remind myself throughout the day of the "smart" choices I was making for my health. PS. I am also working on the quit smoking habit after 30 years...Down to half a pack, after first week. My normal intake was 1 pack per day. ~ Tracy Morris I carry my water bottle with me every where I go at work...and at home. I fill it up at any water fountain or cooler. I find that if it is in my hand I will drink it without even thinking about it. By doing this I drink between 150 and 200 ounces of water a day. ~ Samuel Manning

Make it a point to drink a glass of water when you are up in the morning. Also, drink a glad before every meal; better still, drink a glass during the meal and another after the meal. When drinking juice dilute it with water. Lastly just have a fun water bottle that you like. .. keep it filed and take it everywhere you go and sip sip sip! ~ Bernadetta Targosz I definitely find it a challenge to drink so much water! I find it goes down easier when I drink with a straw!! Also, use a cup or buy bottled water that's 16+ ounces--then you only have to drink four of them! ~ Bonnie Potoczny Holz I get into work at 5:00 AM, so immediately after I get up, I drink a 12oz glass of cold water. Then when I get to work, I make coffee. While waiting for that pot to brew, I fill my Menasha Forward bottle. It is filled at least 3 times per day. ~ Sandra Pellock-Peters I add lemons & limes to help burn fat and it gives a fresh flavor. ~ Rosa Yanez I found that cutting up fresh cucumbers and sticking them in my water bottle really helped increase my water intake. Just threw a few in there in the morning, and it was good to go all day. Much less acidic than lemon or lime (sometimes I have issues with this), but a great alternative to regular boring water! ~ Trisha Lines

Here is what I do. ~ Submitted by Ron Timm To increase water intake, I take a water bottle with me in the car when running errands. It wards off hunger and is refreshing! ~ Brenda Johnsen I have a refillable 32 oz container that is kept at work. I fill this up 1 2 times each work day with water. On average, each day I consume around 128 ozs of water. I also keep bottled water in the trunk of my car. When I am thirsty, I generally choose water over a pop when traveling. ~ Kim Haney

I use my reusable Menasha water bottle throughout the day. Each full bottle is 24 oz and I usually drink 2-3 of those each day during working hours. I never drink soda so it is usually water or milk. I find that if I make a point to get a large glass out to set on the countertop and fill it with ice water at home I drink it and refill it all day. ~ Cory Firari Im not a huge Water drinker so this is a great challenge for me. I started this week drinking a 16oz water bottle when I wake up in the morning. I then have a 24oz bottle I fill when I get to work and drink that throughout the day.. trying to refill or fill way once Im done with the initial fill. Then when I get home I have another 16oz water bottle that I have for dinner and the evening. Its keeping me filled up and I feel more hydrated throughout the day! ~ Tracy Olk Consume sixteen ounces of ice cold water as soon as you wake up! Helps to wake you up and starts your metabolism! ~ Abe Dickinson Mark your cup every time you fill it up to keep track of how many you have consumed throughout the day. ~ Aaron Pontow Whenever you pass a drinking fountain always stop and get a drink. I avg. 60 plus ozs. of water per day. keep a bottle of water in my tool box. That way I have water whenever I want it. Sometime I add a flavor packet to it.~ Michael Collins
