MCDONALDS IS NOW SERVING $54,000 IN SCHOLOARSHIPS The global restaurant chain spotlights Savannah employees seeking higher education
SAVANNAH, Ga. Sept. 26, 2013 McDonalds of Savannah has selected its 2013 Academic Excellence Award Scholarship recipients and celebrated with a formal event on Wednesday Sept. 25, 2013 in Richmond Hill, Ga. Applicants were high school seniors employed by McDonalds who plan to attend an accredited college or university. The Savannah Co-op plans to award 10 $5,000 scholarships to college or trade school bound individuals who have met these criteria and four $1,000 scholarships to help the communitys youth excel in higher education annually.

The winners of the 2013 Academic Excellence Award Scholarship were announced Wednesday Sept. 25, 2013 at Richmond Hill City Center in Richmond Hill, Ga. The recipients of the 10 $5,000 scholarships included Jeremy Corwin, Shantanese Anderson, Khadijah Coney, Damane Daley, Mitchell Gramazio, Kedrick White, Dedrick Smith, Octavia Phillips, Dalton Davis and Jeylsa Aponte. The four $1,000 scholarships were awarded to Adam Corwin, Calvin Atkins, Justin Stanberry and Caleesha Jackson. To qualify for the scholarship, recipients must be employees of McDonalds and seniors in high school with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and submit a 500-word essay. An Independent Selection Committee evaluated the applications and selected the winners. The committee took in to consideration recommendations, content of the essay, academic achievements and extra circular activities. We believe that a thriving community is comprised of dedicated individuals.
