Credit for Recertification and Continuing Education
Completion of APA educational courses and attendance at APA educational conferences confer varying numbers of Recertification Credit Hours (RCHs), Continuing Education Units (CEUs), or Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credits. Recertification credit hours (RCHs) are provided for APA courses, seminars, and conferences. One RCH is provided for each 60 minutes of educational instruction. Recertification of APA’s payroll certifications—Fundamental Payroll Certification (FPC) and Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)—is achieved by those who have earned the CPP or FPC designation accumulating an appropriate number of qualifying RCHs within a defined period of time. The APA is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State Boards of Accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit.
