Call for Papers and Presentations

Global financial services is a rapidly growing and dynamic industry. There are new and exciting developments in asset classes, derivatives, structured finance, alternative risk transfer, risk management, insurance risks, balance sheet management, product design, guarantees and more. One of the primary drivers of these developments is innovation in financial markets. The Institute of Actuaries of Australia will convene the 4th Financial Services Forum in Melbourne in May 2008 primarily focused on innovations in Investments, Banking and Finance, Wealth Management, Superannuation, Retirement Incomes and Life Insurance. The program is now being prepared and we are seeking papers. Papers supporting actuaries in practice across the wider financial services field are particularly encouraged. Mr Tig Melville will award a prize ($4,000) to an author of a paper considered by the judging panel to have either effected significant advance in the profession’s understanding or knowledge of a specific subject or sphere of knowledge; OR collected or presented existing material in such a way as to raise the awareness of the profession regarding an important contemporary issue.
