Describe your strengths and weaknesses giving explicit textual examples. Strengths: Thus far, making this film has been my one of my favorite projects throughout the semester. I found the creativity of the film so intriguing and most enjoyable. My strengths for the short film include: editing, story, and a powerful message. I spent a lot of time editing the film, and it is professionally done. The music, transitions, and settings were chosen particularly and I gave a lot of thought to the editing process and how I wanted my message to be received. Secondly, the story of the film about a graduate student, Matt, living in Los Angeles, while his girlfriend, Taylor, is in New York City working in the corporate world. As the long distance relationship crumbles from Taylor cheating, Matt turns to medication, ultimately killing himself. The deeper meaning of this short film is about the power of connecting with a person, and how Generation Y is being consumed by technology that social media is suppressing human emotions. Its a very powerful message a lot of young adults can relate to in many different ways. The message can also be interpreted in other ways because Ive included themes of medication, relationships, studying, alcohol, depression, sex, technology, and ultimately the impact one person can have on another. Weaknesses: The most difficult part of the editing was organizing the film so the audience members could understand the theme and story line. Since it was a silent film with only music, I had to ensure the scenes were properly ordered. At first, I ended with Matt overdosing and dying. However, after much thinking, I felt it would be more emotional for the audience to know he died before his story began. I found the organization challenging, but once I had the structure, I needed to make certain the audience received the message. To do so, the music is very important as it provides the films tone. Describe what comments were helpful/ not helpful from your peer responders and explain how you incorporated the feedback or why you chose not to use some of the feedback. Again, give explicit textual examples cited from the actual feedback. Overall, I received very good comments from my group members. I did take their advice and change a number of things. Firstly, I lengthened the opening quote so the audience could have more time to read it. Also, before the film began I wrote a paragraph talking about human connection and the soul, which gives great insight to the theme of the film. My group members very much enjoyed my film, and said it was extremely well done and provided a good message. Explain what aspect of the paper you want me to pay particular attention to and why. Considering this is a silent film, a lot of the understanding will have to be on the music and the actor. The opening paragraph is very important as it states the theme of human connection and technology overshadowing Generation Y. Also, there is a deeper

meaning than a cheating relationship, but the impact one person has on our lives. The film includes many themes and messages that a lot of people can understand.
