PAST SIMPLE

o We use this tense to talk about something that happened and finished in the past (completed action). The moment in the past is clearly defined:

last night, last Monday, last week, last month a week ago, a month ago, a year ago in 1980 when yesterday the day before Christmas at 4.30 a. m.
o We also use the past simple to describe something that happened regularly or continually in the past or a situation that existed in the past over a period of time, not just at one fixed moment.
