Communication Society
The Organizational Communication program in the University of the Philippines is
celebrating its Silver Anniversary. This foremost event of the Department of Arts
and Communication will be co-presented by the Organizational Communication
Society (OrComSoc), the home organization of the degree program. A whole day
conference and an alumni homecoming will be held in line with the anniversary.

The Prospectus presents the opportunities for your company to sponsor the Silver
Anniversary and other OrComSoc events that are lined up this year. As you identify
the opportunity that will most effectively highlight your company, we look forward
to working with you collaboratively. This year, OrComSoc prepared several events,
most of which are aimed not only at improving the skills of its members in terms
of being hte corporate professionals that they are expected to become, but also at
raising funds to be of help to our selected non government organization.

OCTOBER
As part of improving the knowledge and social base of OrCom
students, OrComSoc teams up with Team Comm, the home
organization of Organizational Communication majors in De La
Salle University. This event will put together members of
OrComSoc and Team Comm in a two-day event, where
practitioners in OrCom-related fields will conduct lectures and
workshops on the current field trends. To cap the learning-filled
event, a night of socialization will be prepared for the camp
participants.

NOVEMBER
20 | 1-Tugon Sa Kalikasan Campus Tour
Before UP Manila students hit their homes for the semester break,
OrComSoc brings in 1-Tugon sa Kalikasan Campus Tour. This is a
partnership with DeLara (formerly known as Mojofly) and Green
Dream (an NGO), which aims to advocate environmental
consciousness while at the same time promoting the band’s album
and introducing some of the school’s local bands.

DECEMBER
The ORCOM Night is a gathering of ORCOM students and alumni over a
friendly competition of male and female representatives of their
respective batches, with themes varying per year. This is one of the
fund-raising projects of OrComSoc that is aimed at helping its
selected non government organization.

JANUARY

Consistent to the goal of imparting communication-related skills,
OrComSoc brings in the second of the semestral half-day-long
seminars, which will focus on building specific communication skills.
The topic for this seminar will be chosen, again, by OrCom students
themselves.

FEBRUARY
3 | Practicum Seminar
To prepare the junior OrCom students for their internship come
summer time, OrComSoc organizes a seminar that will teach the
students the how-to’s of being an intern—from preparing one’s
resume to dealing with difficult bosses.
