Our Mission:

The National Art Education Association Student Chapter of Towson University is a student lead group that incorporates the NAEA mission of "advancing visual arts education to fulfill human potential and promote global understanding."

Collaboration with Northwood Appold Community Academy (NACA) I & II and Towson University Department of History

Towson University students worked with NACA students in middle and high school to come up with a concept and create a mural about the Freedom Summer of 1964 to promote the schools passion for freedom and democracy.

Students enjoyed watching the Oscar-winning documentary, King Gimp, while discussing the life and work of the artist who starred in the film, Dan Keplinger.

NAEA participated in a school-wide community service project in which the students cleaned and organized a multi-purpose room in a local nursing home.

NAEA members hosted a school-wide movie night/interest meeting to recruit new members as a way of expanding the organization.

Students traveled to Forth Worth, Texas to attend various educational sessions during the national conference.

Students organized a bake sale to promote NAEA and raise money for the organization.

Students helped hang and organize a juried student art show at the Towson Commons Gallery. Many students also had work displayed in the show to prove that art educators can practice what they preach!

Community Service

The Abilities Network Walkabout is an event that raises money and awareness for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders.

Students hosted an art tent at the event that offered multiple art activities for children and their families to participate in. Some of these activities included leaf printing, blown-ink tree paintings, and face painting.

Students organized a bake sale to promote NAEA and raise money for the organization.

HOSTED BY THE CHILDRENS HOME

The Childrens Home in Catonsville, MD provides a place for children that are abandoned, abused, or homeless to live.

Students helped build and paint 200 bird houses to give to donors as gifts. They also hosted an art booth at the Gala in which attendees could create pin-back buttons.

NAEA members hosted a school-wide movie night with Towsons Stunt Club as a way to collaborate with students outside of the art education major.

Students wrapped pottery purchased at the neighboring pottery sale.

To raise money for NAEA, students partnered with Towsons ceramic department to set up a gift wrapping table at their annual student pottery sale.

Batemans Fundraiser
Students organized an NAEA fundraiser night at Bill Batemans.

Students from Towson University came out to support NAEA by eating at Bill Batemans Bistro, a local restaurant.
