Over the years children’s groups have written thank you notes to me for being their pastor. I will cherish these always. After our debt retirement event last summer one boy wrote: “I like your sermons. Sometimes I understand what you said.” (I think maybe a parent wrote that, and put their kid’s name on it). For over thirty seven years Arnold Fuller has served our Lord at this church. There is not enough space to write the depth of gratitude and respect I have for him. To simply say “Thank you” seems shallow and trite. I know that I am wiser, better, stronger, and more Christ like because of him. Every minister faces the danger of drawing people to himself instead of the Lord. That has never been the case with Arnold Fuller. He has always sought to honor the Lord Jesus. Sunday, December 29 will be Arnold’s last official Sunday as our Minister of Music and Worship. On January 19, we will have an evening of worship and praise to thank God for this faithful servant. Until then keep Arnold and Judy in your prayers. This is not an easy transition for them or this church. Bonds of love have been formed that last forever. The scriptures teach us that “Christ loved the church and gave Himself for it.” I can testify that Arnold has loved this church and given himself in ministry. Doxology! In our Christmas Eve worship service we will light the five advent candles. Advent means “coming” and points to Christ coming into our world at Christmas. Studies show that unchurched people are more likely to attend a special service like this if someone would invite them. It is casual dress, filled with great music and last less than an hour. Our vision and goal at Eastmont is to connect people to Christ. We believe that life is better when we are connected to our creator. If someone ask you why you pray, teach, help or whatever you do, just tell them “I want to connect people to Christ”. What an amazing December. I prefer us to hit a lot of singles and win the baseball game. But in December we were blessed with multiple homeruns. Family Christmas Festival, Orchestra Program, Children’s Musical, were all out of the park. Thanks to so many for serving the way you do. In addition, there are hundreds of behind the scenes ministries that will never be written about. Remember even a cup of water in God’s name is remembered and rewarded. From all the staff at Eastmont, Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

INTERNATIONAL MISSION STUDY Last week over 50 RAs and GAs participated in our missionary adventure learning about missions in Peru! Mrs. Grace Santana showed us many interesting things from Peru and we tasted a sweet bread and a soft drink that children in Peru enjoy! We prayed for missions and learned the importance of giving our Lottie Moon offering to help missionaries all around the world tell people about Jesus. Dear Eastmont family, I just wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for welcoming us with such open arms! Melissa, Caleb, and I have been overwhelmed by the graciousness of the Eastmont faith family as they have provided us with so many well wishes and wonderful goodies. In many ways it’s difficult to move to a new place but you all have very quickly made it feel like home. We look forward to many years of fruitful service for our great Savior!

Ministry Opportunity This coming Sunday evening December 22, there are no scheduled church-wide activities. However, you and your family are encouraged to use this time to do some type of ministry. Some types of things you could do are invite a friend or neighbor to our Christmas Eve service, visit a homebound member, or help out a family in need. What Did You Expect?: Redeeming the Realities of Marriage February 7-8, 2014 with Dr. Paul David Tripp Tickets: $12.50 per person or $25/couple You may purchase tickets either in the connecting hallway or online at: montgomerytrippconf.wordpress.com Christmas Post Office December 1-22 It’s that time of year and the Student Ministry wants to help you spread Christmas Cheer. Bring Christmas cards addressed to Eastmont members and drop them in the BIG mailboxes located in the worship center lobby and in the connecting hallway. It would be helpful if you know the
receiver’s Sunday School Class Name to include on the envelope. The Student Ministry will sort and then deliver your Christmas cards to the various Sunday School classes each Sunday.
