Introduction
In this assignment, we need to do a survey of the food expenses by the tourists in Klang Valley and Malacca. We had form up a 6 person survey group for this survey. Firstly, we write down the general questions, and then we start to summaries all those questions and finally come out with 20 questions for survey form. Besides, we prepare 50 survey forms for each place. Which mean that, we prepare 50 survey forms for Malacca and Klang Valley. In this survey, we are going to compare the food expenses by tourists in Malacca and Klang Valley. We will be comparing the daily expenses, money that willing to spend on food, expenses on breakfast, lunch and dinner as well. Besides comparing the food expenses, we will also want to survey about how the different of living cost in different places will affect the money spend on food. We will be interview or targeted on local and foreigner tourists in this survey. We are not only focus on foreigner tourists, we will be asking or giving the survey forms for those local who are not living in Klang Valley. We will group up all the data and summaries out all the data we have to get the accurate answers. Lastly, there will be included all the calculation of mean, mode, median, variance, standard division and also interquartile range in this report.

Objectives
The objective for this assignment is to compare the food expenses by tourists in Malacca and Klang Valley. In this assignment, we will be comparing the expenses of food by the tourists in Klang Valley and Malacca as well. We will compare the daily expenses by the tourists in both different places. We will use the percentage chart, which is pie chart to compare this segment. The, we will go forward to compare the food expenses by tourists. As a result of the living cost in both places are different, so we decided to compare about the money spend in both places. As we all know, every one of us will take meals every day, so, this is why we choose to compare the food expenses of tourists. Then, we decide to target on tourists in both places for our survey. The reason are because, tourists will be have more time compare to the local citizen, because most of the local citizen will be busy for their work and business. So, we choose to target on tourists in order to get more accurate answers. Besides that, tourists are fair and fresh with the place. So, the answer they provided will be more accurate than the local citizen. Because, some of the local citizen may have their own living style and most of the time they will have their meals at home. So, the tourists will be the good example and good for this survey. After we finish all the surveys, we group up all the data that provided by the respondent and start to summaries all the data. After summaries, we pick up some important questions for compare. In this report and assignment, we will use the percentage chart, bar chart and some mathematics equations to finish and complete this assignment. We will have the calculation on mean, mode, median, variance, standard division and interquartile range after the percentage chart comparison. Basically, the objective on doing this assignment is to compare the food expenses by tourists in different

Lastly, we will want to learn the differences on spending money on foods by tourists in one tourists attraction place (Malacca) and a city.

Figure 1.0 shows the number of tourist In Malacca and Klang Valley

Figure 1.0 shows that the number of tourist in Malacca and Klang Valley. According to the column chart above, 30 out of 50 people went to Malacca was local tourist and 20 out 50 people was foreigner tourist. Malacca is one of the tourist attractions in Malaysia, and it is also known “The Historic State”. Thus, this will be one of the choices for tourist to visit in Malaysia. Based on the figure above, 30 out of 50 people are local tourist. It is because, Malacca was located in the south part of Malaysia, and it is located in between Johor and Negeri Sembilan as well. So the citizen from these two states might be convenient to visit this place. Not only than that, citizens from Selangor will be visiting this place during weekend or holiday time. Because, it only take one and the half hours travel form Selangor and Malacca. Thus, this is the reason why there is large number of local tourist there. Besides that, there are 20 out of 50 people of foreigner tourist in Malacca. As I had mentions earlier, Malacca is one of the tourist attractions in Malaysia, thus, it will be still have foreigner tourist to visit this place.

Based on the column chart above, there are 35 out of 50 people in Klang Valley are local tourist and 15 out of 50 are foreigner. This is because, Klang Valley cover large part of place and area in Selangor. For example, Klang, Shah Alam, Subang jaya and others. Thus, the major activities in Klang Valley are business and working. There is still has some tourist attractions that you can found in Klang Valley. However, compare with Malacca, the tourist attractions in Malacca will be more than in Klang Valley. Thus this had affected the number of foreigner in Klang Valley. As a compare with Malacca, the foreigner tourist in Malacca will be more than in Kalng Valley, due to the places of attraction. Since, there is a numerous of big shopping complex can be found in Klang Valley, so the majority of tourist in Klang Valley will be local tourist. Even some of the local tourists are the citizens of the state, but there will be to visit those shopping complex when they need.

Figure 1.1 shoes the occupation of tourists in Malacca and Klang Valley. Based on the figure above, professional would be the highest rate of occupation of local tourist in Malacca. Which mean that, the majority of local tourists in Malacca are professional. Professional included architect, engineer, teacher, lecturer, finance planner, professor and so on. So based on the column chart above, we can know that, most of the tourist in Malacca are Professional body. Then, come with the student in second. Second will be the second high of occupation of tourist in Malacca. As I had mentions, Malacca is one of the tourist attractions in Malaysia. Thus, this will be one of the choices for student to visit and a place for their gradate trip as well. In addition, Malacca is also known as “The Historic State”. So, Malacca will be one of the places for student to learn, discover and do survey as well. As the same with our project, we are students and we visit Malacca for survey and complete our assignment. Thus, this will be the reason why student would be the second high local tourist occupation in Malacca. The third high

tourist occupation will be others and come with the fourth with businessman and fifth with housewife. The occupation of others included like office worker, free lens photographer, artist, and magician and so on. All these occupation was the third high local tourist occupation in Malacca. Then, businessman was considering high as well, because it is only one people less than the others occupation. For the chart, housewife will be the lowest occupation for local tourist. Unfortunately, we couldn’t found any local tourist with the occupation of functionary in Malacca. Then we talk about the foreigner tourist in Malacca. The highest rate of occupation for foreigner tourist in Malacca is professional, as same with the Local tourist in Malacca as well. The occupation of profession comes to the first for the foreigner tourists. We get to know more about the foreigner tourist during our survey. From the survey, we know that most of the foreigner tourist may wish to feel and experiences the culture and food in Malaysia. Then, the situation was change, the second high occupation for foreigner tourist was businessman. Due to businessman have much more free time compare to the other occupations. Besides, the four seasons will be another factor. Due to the four seasons in their country, so of the business may wish to experiences different type of weather. So this is the reason why it comes to the second places. Then, follow with the third high occupation which is student and the fourth with others. As what I mention, Malacca is a good place for student to do their work or learn. Thus, this happen on the foreigner student as well. For example, we might wish to go to Beijing to have a look with the great wall. That is the same things to them; they wish to come to Malaysia to learn about our historical buildings and others stuffs. But, the rate of occupation of student was slightly drop compare to the local tourist in Malacca. Student will be place on the second high local tourist occupation in Malacca whereas it only located on the third position in the occupation of foreigner tourists. Others would be the lowest occupation for the foreigner tourist. This us different with local tourist, there are large number of local tourists occupied with others occupation, whereas it is rare in foreigner tourists. Unfortunately, we couldn’t found any foreigner tourists with the occupation of housewife and functionary in Malacca. Based on the figure above, the highest occupation for local tourist in Klang Valley is student and come with the second highest of others. There is numerous of university, collage, primary and secondary school that you can found in Klang Valley. Thus, the number of student in Klang

Valley will be more that in Malacca. So, this is why Student can be stand on the first and top occupation in Klang Valley. The third high occupation for local tourist in Klang Valley would be housewife and following by professional and businessman. The rate of occupation of local tourist for professional and businessman come with the same. The rate of professional in Klang Valley will be slightly lower than in Malacca whereas the rate of businessman in Klang Valley will be higher than in Malacca. The same things happen on local tourists in Klang Valley; we couldn’t found any local tourists with occupation of functionary in Klang Valley as well. Lastly, the highest occupation for the foreigner tourists in Klang Valley is professional, which is same with the rate for foreigner tourists in Malacca. Then, there is slightly change with the arrangement. In Klang Valley, there is two second highest occupation. Student and others will be occupied the second highest occupation for foreigner tourists in Klang Valley. There is slightly different compare to in Malacca. In Malacca, the second highest occupation for foreigner tourist would be businessman.in Klang Valley, the lowest occupation for foreigner tourists would be housewife. There have no any foreigner tourists with occupation of functionary in Klang Valley.

Figure 1.2 shows the daily expenses by tourists in Malacca and Klang Valley.

Figure 1.2 shows the daily expenses by tourist in Malacca and Klang Valley. Based on the figure, there are 48% of tourists in Klang spend between RM 0-49 per day, whereas only 28% of tourists in Malacca may spend this price in Malacca. This is because, there are more local tourists in Klang Valley. So of the local tourists may come to Klang Valley areas for business or work, and for shopping as well. So basically some of them are come in one day trip, so this group of tourists may not spend more in a day. Besides, some of the local tourists may have relative or cousin who lives in Klang Valley, so this might help them to reduce the expenses on

hotel in Klang Valley. As compare to Malacca, most of the tourists will spend more than one day in Malacca, in order to experiences and enjoy the place. And there is more foreigner tourists will be found in Malacca, thus the daily expenses in Malacca will be slightly higher than in Klang Valley. In addition, there is 32% of tourists in Klang Valley may spend between RM 50-99 in a day, whereas there are 28% of tourists in Malacca may spend this price as well. RM 50-99 will be the most popular or acceptable price range for tourist in both places. Then, then percentage on spending above RM 100 and Below RM 150 in Malacca are 22%, whereas there is 12% in Klang Valley. Lastly, 8 % of tourists in Klang Valley may spend above RM 150 and below RM 200 in one day. However, 22% of tourists in Malacca will spend this price in a day. In conclusion, the percentage of local tourists in Klang Valley will be higher than in Malacca. Thus, most of them from Negeri Sembilan or others places out of Klang Valley areas, will come here for business or work. So, the daily expenses for this area, which is Klang Valley, will be lower than in Malacca. Due to the percentage of one day trip in Klang Valley will be higher than in Malacca.

Figure 1.3 shows that the willingness of tourists to spend on food per day

Figure above shows the willingness of tourists to spend on food per day. According to figure 1.3, most of the foreigner tourists are willing to spend between RM 40-59 on food per day whereas local tourists in both places prefer to spend between RM 20-39 on food per day. The statistic of the willingness to spend on food for both foreigner tourists in Malacca and Klang Valley are almost the same. The majority of foreigner tourists in both places are willing to spend RM 40-59 on food per day. Then, the second highest prices they willing to spend are between RM 60-79, follow by RM 20 -39. In addition, in Malacca, small part of foreigner tourists are willing to spend RM 80-99 on food per day whereas in Klang Valley there have no foreigner tourists willing to spend this price on food per day. In Klang Valley, a small part of foreigner tourists are willing to spend RM 0-19 on food per day rather than RM 80-99. As a result, all of the foreigner tourists in Malacca are willing to spend above RM 19 on food per day. This is because, Malacca

is one of the tourist attractions in Malaysia, most of the foreigner tourists go there for enjoy. Besides, the foods in Malacca are easy to found and convenient to eat. For example, the Jongker Street provides different type of food for tourists to try. Thus those factors may affect the willingness to spend on food. Based on figures 1.3, most of the local tourists in both places are willing to spend between RM 20-39 on food per day. The charts for both places are almost the same. In both places, the second high of price that the local tourists are willing to spend on food is between RM40-59. Then, follow by RM 0-19. There will be slightly different for local tourists in Malacca. The number of local tourists who willing to spend RM 80-99 on food in a day is more than in Klang Valley. Besides, the same things happen on the local tourists in Malacca. There are more number of local tourists in Malacca are willing to spend RM 60-79 on food than in Klang Valley. Malacca consists of different type of delicious food and it is an attractions place in Malaysia. Thus, the tourists will be more likely to spend more money on food in this place.

Figure 2.0 shows the expenses on breakfast of local tourists in Malacca

Based on the pie chart above, there are 68 % of local tourists spend between RM 1-9 on their breakfast. Besides that, 26 out 100 percent of local tourists spend between RM 10-19 on their breakfast. Coincidentally, there are two same percentages of local tourists in Malacca who spend between RM 20-29 and RM 30-39 on breakfast. Which mean that, 3 % of local tourists in Malacca will spend between RM 20-29, in the other way round, there is another 3 % of local tourists there will spend between RM 30-39 on breakfast as well. In Malacca, there have no any local tourists may spend up to RM 40 for their breakfast. For overall, most of the local tourists in Malacca may spend less than RM 10 for their breakfast.

According to the chart above, there are 60 % of local tourists in Klang Valley may spend below than RM 10 on breakfast. Which means that, 60% of local tourists in Klang Valley will spends between RM 1-9 on breakfast. Besides, 34 % of local tourists in Klang Valley may spend above RM 10 and Below RM 20 on their breakfast. These 34% of local tourists will spend between RM 10-19 on their breakfast. In addition, 3% of local tourists in Klang Valley may spend between RM 30-39 on their breakfast and follow by 3% of local tourists in Klang Valley may spend between RM 40-49 on breakfast as well. For overall, there have no any local tourists in Klang Valley will spend between RM 20-29 on their breakfast. The majority of local tourists in Klang Valley may spend below RM 10 on their breakfast.

Based on the figures above, the majority of local tourists in both places may spend below RM 10 on their breakfast. 68% of local tourists in Malacca will spend below RM 10 on breakfast whereas there is 60% of local tourists in Klang Valley may spend below RM 10 on breakfast.

Besides, 34 % of local tourists in Klang valley may spend between RM 10-19 on break whereas only 26 % of local tourists in Malacca may spend this price on their breakfast. Subsequently, there are 3% of local tourists in Malacca may spend between RM 20-29 on their breakfast whereas 0% of local tourists in Klang Valley will spend this price on their breakfast. It means that, there is no local tourists in Klang Valley will spend between RM 20-29 on their breakfast. There are 3% of local tourists in both place may spend between RM 30-39 on their breakfast. In Malacca, no local tourists may spend up to RM 40 on their breakfast whereas in Klang Valley, there are 3% of local tourists may spend between RM 40-49 on their breakfast. In conclusion, due to the living cost in Klang Valley is higher than in Malacca, so the money that local tourists spend on breakfast will be slightly different. In Klang Valley, the percentage of local tourists spend below RM 10 on breakfast is lower than in Malacca, due to the living cost factor. Then it rise the percentage on spending between RM 10-19 in Klang Valley. Due to the factor that I had mentions, some food in Malacca may sell cheaper than in Klang Valley. Some price of the food in Malacca will be slightly lower than in Klang Valley. The highest rate of the money that local tourists spend on their breakfast in Malacca is RM 40, whereas in Klang Valley, the highest rate will be RM 50. For overall, in Malacca, the local tourists may not spend more than RM 40 on their breakfast whereas in Klang Valley, the local tourists may spend above RM 40 and below RM 50 on their breakfast.

According to the figure above, 65% of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley spend above RM10 and below RM 20 on their breakfast. Which mean that, 65 % of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley spend between RM10-19 on breakfast. Then, the rest of 35% of foreigner tourists may spend between RM 20-29 on breakfast. No foreigner tourists spend above RM 30 for their breakfast in Klang Valley. Thus, the majority of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley will spend between RM 10-19 on their breakfast, then the rest of than may spend between RM 20-29 on breakfast as well.

Figure 3.0 shows the expenses on breakfast of foreigner tourists in Malacca. Based on the pie chart above, there is 20% of foreigner tourists spend below RM 10 on breakfast. This group of tourists only spends between RM 1-9 on their breakfast. Then, 53% of foreigner tourists in Malacca may spend between RM 10-19 on their breakfast. 27 % of foreigner tourists will spend between RM 20-29 on breakfast as well. In Malacca, doesn’t have any foreigner tourists will spend more than RM 30 on their breakfast. In conclusion, most of the foreigner may spend above RM 10 and below RM 20 on their breakfast.

Figure 3.1 shows the expenses of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley and Malacca

Figures 3.1 show the expenses of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley and Malacca. Based on the data provided by the respondent, there are 65% of tourists in Klang Valley will spend between RM 10-19 on breakfasts whereas only 53% of tourists will spend this price in Malacca. Then, there is 35 % of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley will spend above RM 20 and below Rm 30 on

breakfast. As a compare with the foreigner tourists in Malacca, only 27% of foreigner tourists may spend between RM 20-29 on breakfast in Malacca. The percentage of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley that will spend between RM 1-9 is 0%, whereas in Malacca there are 20% of foreigners tourists spend between RM 1-9 on their breakfast. All these figures show that, the money for the foreigner tourists spend on breakfast in Klang Valley are more than in Malacca. It’s because, the living cost in Klang Valley is higher than Malacca. Based on the chart above, 77% of local tourists in Klang Valley spend between RM 10-19 on luch whereas 63 % of local tourists in Malacca spend this price for their lunch. Besides, only 17% of local

In addition, 3 % of local tourists in Klang valley spend between RM 20-29 on their lunch, which will be 10 % of local tourists will spend their price for lunch in Malacca. In Klang valley, there is only 3 % of local tourists spend Rm 30-39 on lunch whereas there are 7% of local tourists will spend this price for lunch. There are no local tourists will spend more than RM 40 for lunch in both places. For overall, the percentage of spending the money between RM 10-19 for local tourists in Klang valley will be higher than in Malacca. Then, the percentage of spending money between RM 1-9 In Klang Valley will be lower than in Malacca. Due to the living cost in Klang Valley is higher than in Malacca, so the tourists will spend more money on food. Besides that, in Klang Valley, there is harder for tourists to look for some small store compare to Malacca. Then, in Klang Valley, traffic jam was become a common issues that people will face here, so in order to avoid stuck in traffic, people in Klang Valley or turists here will choose to take breakfast outside rather than at home. But in Malacca, traffic jam is not a big problem for them, so they can have their breakfast in hostel, hotel or even home before they out. Thus these may be one of the factors why the percentage between the price ranges RM 10-19 will be higher in Klang Valley than Malacca.

Based on the figure above, there are 65% of foreigner tourists in Malacca spend RM 10-19 on their lunch whereas 60 % of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley spend this price on their lunch. This is because, the living cost in Klang Valley is high, so tourists may choose to eat their handmade lunch, such as sandwich, bread, rice and noodle as well, in order to save more money

and reduce the expenses. On the other hand, due to the low living cost factor, some of the food in Malacca may sell cheaper than in Klang Valley. As a result, tourists may spend more time on enjoying their food and take more food or order more food because of the cheaper price. Thus, the more volume of food causes the expenses on lunch increase. In addition, there is 27% of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley may spend between RM 20-29 on lunch whereas in Malacca, there are 35% of foreigner tourists spend this place on their lunch. Due to the reason I had mentions, it affected the percentage on spending money on lunch in Klang Valley reduce. Based on the data, there is still have 6% tourists spend below RM 10 on lunch and 7% of tourists spend between RM 30-39 on lunch as well. In conclusion, due to the high living in Klang Valley, it affected the rate of percentage of money spend on lunch reduce.

Figure 4.0 shows the money spends on dinner by local tourists in Klang Valley and Malacca. Based on the figures, there are 51 % of local tourists in Klang Valley spend between RM 10-19 on dinner whereas in Malacca, 44% of local tourists spend the samle price on their dinner.

Besides that, there are only 20 % of local tourists spend below RM 30 and above RM 10 on their dinner. But in Malacca, there are 37% of local tourists spend between RM 20-29 on their dinner. The percentage of spending this figure of money in Malacca is higher than in Klang Valley. Subsequently, the flow was changed. There is only 3 % of local tourists spend RM 30-39 in Malacca whereas there are 17% of local tourists may spend this price on their dinner in Klang Valley. Then, come to the price with RM 40-49. In Malacca, only 3 % of tourists spend between RM 40-49 on their dinner whereas there are 9 % of them who spned this price on their dinner in Klang Valley as well. In both places, no tourists will spend more than RM 50 on their dinner. The percentages of tourists spend less than RM 10 on dinner in Klang Valley is only 3 %. 13% of local tourists in Malacca will spend less than RM 10 on their dinner. The reason why local tourists in Klang Valley will spend more money on dinner is because, the entertainment in Klang Valley is more than in Malacca. For example, a general knowledge for us, normally people will focus on their dinner more than lunch and breakfast. It is because, they need to take more food to recover the stamina and energy spent during day time. So, they will pay more on dinner. It is true, in both place will face will the same problem. But, as I had mentions earlier, the living cost in Klang Valley will be higher than in Malacca. Even they order the same food in both places, but there will be the price different happen. This is why the money spend on both place are different. Besides, in Klang Valley, there are a lot of entertainments places compare to Malacca. So of the tourists may spend the night time on enjoying the nightlife of the place. Thus, those entire factor may be the reason on affecting the percentage of spending money in both different places.

The minimum expenses on dinner by foreigner tourists in Malacca are between RM 10-19 whereas the minimum expenses on dinner by Foreigner tourists in Klang Valley is between RM 1-9 . Based on the pie chart, there is 13 % of foreigner tourist in Klang Valley spend below RM 10 on dinner. 25 % of tourists in Malacca spend between RM 20-29 on dinners whereas only have 7 % of tourists in Klang Valley spent this figure on dinner. Addition, the percentages of speding money between RM 30-39 on dinner by the foreigner tourists are 40 % in Malacca and 33% in Klang Valley. Then, 5 % of tourists spend below RM 40 and above RM 30 on dinner in Malacca, but there is 13% of foreigner tourists spend the same figure in Klang Valley. Follow by 27% of foreigner tourists in Klang Valley and 25% of foreigner tourists in Malacca who spend between RM 40-49 in dinner. Lastly, 5 % of foreigner tourists in Malacca spend between RM 50-59 on dinner. However, in Klang valley, the percentage of spending money between RM 5059 is 7 %. This show that, in both place, the foreigners tourists will wish to enjoy more on their dinner compare to lunch and breakfast. One third of foreigner in both places will spend more than RM 30 on their dinner. Due to the habit of drinking alcohol drink, the money that the foreigner tourists spend on dinner will be higher than lunch and breakfast. In conclusion, the foreigner tourists in both places enjoy spending more money on their dinner.

Conclusion
In conclusion, after the survey in Malacca and Klang Valley, we can clearly understand that the expenses on food by tourists in Malacca and Klang Valley. The different on living cost will be the factors that may affect the money that tourists spend on their meals. Klang valley is a city area and with high living cost, so the tourists here will spend more on their meal compare to in Malacca. Due to the reason of high living cost, thus the food sell in Klang Valley will be higher than in Malacca. So that, tourists in Klang Valley have to spend more on food compare to the tourists in Malacca. After this survey, we can know that, the daily expenses on Malacca will be higher than in Klang Valley. This is because, Malacca is a tourist attraction in Malaysia, and thus the foreigner tourists in Malacca will be more than in Klang Valley. Normally, the foreigner tourists will spend about one to two days there, so this may affect the daily expenses. On the other hand, there are more local tourists in Klang Valley. Some of the local tourists will purposely come to this place. For example, some of the local tourists will go Klang Valley for work or business. So, they might not spend much in one day and one day trip will be the dominant trip in Klang Valley rather than in Malacca. They might only go work in the morning and back at night. There are some local tourists will have relative or cousin who stay in Klang Valley areas as well. This might help them to save the hostel fee and at the same time it will reduce the percentage of daily expenses in Klang Valley. So this is why the daily expenses in Klang Valley will less than in Malacca. After this survey, we can clearly know that the foreigner tourists will spend more on food compare to local tourists. The foreigner tourists will be more enjoy on having their meals compare to the local tourists. Based on the survey, most of the foreigner tourists will take beer or alcohol drink during dinner. So, this might be a good example on why foreigner tourists will spend more than the local tourists. At the same time, the expenses on food by foreigner tourists will be higher than local tourists in both places. As a conclusion, from this survey, we clearly know that, most of the foreigner tourists will spend more on food than the local tourists. Then, dues to the reason of high living cost, the daily expenses in Klang Valley will be lower than in Malacca. Lastly, the percentage of foreigner tourists in Malacca tourists will be higher than in Klang Valley.
