Social Security and SSI beneficiaries aged 18–64 receiving benefits on the basis of disability,
December 2006
In December 2006, nearly 10.4 million people aged 18–64 received benefits on the basis of disability. Nearly
60 percent (6.2 million) received benefits from the Social Security program only, 28 percent (2.9 million) received
benefits from the Supplemental Security Income program (SSI) only, and about 12 percent (1.2 million) received
benefits from both programs.
