Personal Profile

I am an internal communications professional, having worked in this field for fifteen years. I have worked
successfully for both profit and non-profit organisations. During this time I have acquired extensive
experience in a wide range of communications methodologies and tools which allow me to adapt to fully
meet customers’ business requirements. I take pride in delivering a focussed, high standard of work and
deliver my communications clearly and concisely.

Main Achievements

• Over the past ten months I have had sole responsibility for communications within National Grid
Metering. I was employed on an interim basis to produce an employee magazine aligned to a range of
topical employee presentations. I also developed and introduced a new process which enabled the
Directors to distribute their key messages swiftly throughout the business.

• In 2003 I was part of a Communicatons team of five that was runner up in the national Utility Week
awards category for best internal communications products. These products included best company
intranet, employee newsletters, business and employee celebratory events, planning tools, etc.

• I have designed, produced and implemented a number of employee surveys which I have used to form
the basis of internal communications strategies. This included creating a better 2-way communication
process between managers and staff by setting up informal sessions so staff can discuss topics with
managers in an informal setting . I also introduced an employee incentive scheme to recognise
nominated staff for ‘doing a good job’.

• I have successfully managed a Communications team of four which was held with high regard within
the business. I introduced a range of new products such as an intranet and monthly Homepage for the
Managing Director to communicate to his staff.

• During my career I have always had a drive to learn new things and develop my skills. This included the
transition I made from from PA to a Head of Communications, to the role of Internal Communications
Manager for National Grid Metering which employs over 600 office and field based staff.
