WELCOME TO THE D23 EXPO!

Welcome to the D23 Expo! On behalf of everyone at The Walt Disney Company, thank you for joining us to celebrate the magic, wonder and adventure of Disney through this new and exciting four-day gathering that was created especially for you, our most devoted fans. For the first time since the magic of Disney began in 1923, we are pleased to share with you the best and brightest of our remarkable past, present and future — all under one roof — in an event that is literally 86 years in the making! You’ll revel in the nostalgia of your favorite Disney memories at the Treasures of the Walt Disney Archives exhibit, be the first to see Toy Story and Toy Story 2 in 3D during Sunday’s U.S. premiere event and go behind closed doors at Walt Disney Imagineering to gain unprecedented access to the secrets that will define the future of Disney theme park entertainment and experiences. And that doesn’t even scratch the surface! Whether you’re a fan of Disney’s theme parks, animation, television shows, movies, books or collectibles or just can’t get enough of it all, you’ll discover that there is truly something for everyone as you wander the pavilions, screening rooms, exhibition halls, seminars and presentations that await you here at the Anaheim Convention Center. We hope you enjoy the D23 Expo — the ultimate Disney fan experience!

WALT DISNEY PARKS AND RESORTS PAVILION
LOCATION: HALL B

HALL B

It’s hard to imagine that there ever was a time when there was no Disneyland or Walt Disney World. But there was. And at the amazing Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Pavilion, you can go back in time to 1954, when Disney’s fabled Parks story began with an ABC television series in which Walt offered a preview of Disneyland nine months before the park opened. Since then, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts has grown to include 11 parks and five resorts around the world, as well as vacation experiences such as Disney Cruise Line, Adventures by Disney and Disney Vacation Club. At our exciting and magical Pavilion, you can explore the rich legacy of Walt Disney Parks and Resorts through a series of stunning displays and presentations, which include never-before-seen models of classic Disney attractions and the chance to get up close and personal with a couple incredibly real looking characters! And that’s just the beginning!
Get a sneak preview of Cars Land — coming to Disney’s California Adventure in 2012.

Walt Disney Parks and Resorts works tirelessly to create the action-packed adventures of the future — and as an Expo attendee, you’re invited to take a peek at what’s to come! Wait ‘til you see the truly awesome Cars Land rock-work model — a soaring gorgeous feat of imagination that typifies the ambition and scope of Disney’s California Adventure’s current expansion (Psst! It’s so big, it won’t fit inside the Blue Sky Cellar!). You’ll also preview the most advanced Audio-Animatronics® figures ever created — Lucky the Dinosaur and WALL·E — and see firsthand the cutting-edge effects technologies currently in development for Disney attractions, shows and venues. If you’re planning your next great Disney vacation experience, you’ll want to check out the just-announced 2011 itineraries for Disney Cruise Line and take an inside look at the planned expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland, which features three vast new lands. At the Disney Vacation Club booth, you won’t want to miss the latest updates at the under-construction Ko Olina Resort in Hawaii. And on Saturday, September 12 at 11 a.m. in the Anaheim Convention Center D23 Arena, get the inside scoop on exciting new developments straight from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo. Jay will share behind-the-magic details and pull back the curtain on several new projects — including concepts, models and plans for the 12-acre Cars Land that’s set to open at Disney’s California Adventure in 2012.

Meet Lucky the Dinosaur at the Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Pavilion!

Show off your environmental IQ by solving puzzles, and enter a drawing to win handmade, ecofriendly bags chock-full of green gifts. Don’t know an answer? Ask “Push” the talking trash can for a hint! And while you’re at it, why not lend a hand to Disney’s environmental and community service initiatives?

Learn about Disney’s commitment to the environment.

Add cans from your pantry to the magical “can castle” at the D23 Expo Food Drive and help those in need. All collected food will be given to the Orange County Food Bank, part of the Community Action Partnership of Orange County. For more than 44 years, the group has worked with nearly 400 food pantries and community organizations to end hunger and malnutrition. You can also do what our Disney Cast Members do — follow Disney’s Green Standard and make a few simple tweaks to your daily routine to make your lifestyle more sustainable. We’ll show you how to participate in a different community service project each day — painting murals for children’s shelters, putting together care packages and healthy after-school snacks for kids in need, or planting seedlings, for example — and you can become an honorary member of the legendary Disney VoluntEARS program! Then, pass the torch of environmental enlightenment to the next generation through Disney’s Friends for Change and get your picture taken in front of a Green Screen. The Disney Technology Magic Pavilion takes you where the pixie dust is digital! Disney has always used technology to make magic and never more so than today. Have you ever wondered how Disney’s tech gurus create stunning visual effects, 3D animation and high-definition video? Through a series of interactive exhibits and displays, Disney’s Technology Magic team will take you “behind the screens” to see the cutting-edge gadgets that have made your favorite games, animation, film, television and theme park entertainment so magical over the past 86 years. You don’t have to be a tech-wizard — just bring your mouse ears and your sense of adventure, and step into the future. Learn how a 3D live-action movie is filmed and edited, and see the unique camera technology up close. ABC’s KFSN-TV (Fresno, CA) invites you to explore a real television broadcast van and learn how news reporting is delivered, live and in high definition, from the scene of the action to your TV set (and your computer screen, your PDA and your mobile phone too!). Technology toys aren’t just for grown-ups anymore! Get exclusive previews of the latest electronics for kids, and check in with some of our favorite techy ‘toons, WALL·E and Buzz Lightyear. Learn about exciting and innovative ideas hatching in research and development teams around Disney, and see the future of animation magic from Disney’s own research labs (hint: ever heard of an animatronic eyeball?). Finally, meet a very special guest — the Electrical Parade Turtle — one of Disney’s most famous technological performers. In this 4,000-seat venue, you’ll see some of Disney’s most important creative executives, starting on September 10 with the Expo’s opening speaker Bob Iger, president and CEO of The Walt Disney Company. Bob’s presentation kicks off an exciting schedule of events taking place in the Arena over the four days of the D23 Expo. Immediately following the opening event comes the 2009 Disney Legends Ceremony, hosted by Bob Iger and Tom Bergeron (Dancing with the Stars, America’s Funniest Home Videos). Among the latest inductees to this prestigious circle are Tony Anselmo (the voice of Donald Duck), Bill Farmer (the voice of Goofy), comedian and iconic actor Robin Williams and four women who are decidedly golden — The Golden Girls — and more!
