INTRODUCTION Metallurgical and Materials Engineering is today a multidisciplinary branch of science and technology operating particularly in the chemical, machinery, construction, space-flight, electrical and electronics, environmental, and medical fields. It plays an important role in bridging the gap between production processes that run in harmony with the trio of efficiency, energy, raw materials, and the sectors that need them. The advances in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in the recent years have taken place generally in the optimization of metallurgical production processes, digital simulation, and modeling. In case of environmental metallurgical applications, issues such as the treatment of wastes to make them environmentally friendly have been prominent. This Faculty Development Programme is intended to provide opportunities for teachers employed in colleges affiliated to Anna University to improve their knowledge up gradation and skills. This FDP Programme helps faculty to pursue research and help in dissipating the knowledge to the fellow colleagues and students.
