THIS NEWSLETTER 1) Welcomes article or event submissions. 2) Welcomes your ad in exchange for helping us fund this newsletter which goes to hundreds of local business-es, residents, and visitors. We keep growing monthly! See contact info above. Historic Preservation
Sponsored by Swannanoa Business Association, preservation experts, landowners & local historians met in late Aug. for catered lunch (by Moments & Anne’s Catering) and walked the downtown area to identify possible qua-lifying historic commercial properties. There is growing interest in this as one way to renew downtown! We also learned ways to preserve and pass down farms and residences and received technical advice on preservation issues. Excitement builds as the Third Annual Mill Around the Village Festival Association continues planning Swannanoa’s October 3 full day of fun in historic downtown Beacon Mill Village from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. with a happy line-up of music, games, karaoke, costumes, and sales of gifts, crafts, pizza, chocolate, home baked items, Bar-B-Que, a tailgate market, and lots of other treats! Held in conjunction with the Swannanoa Fire Department’s 50th Anniversary and the Swannanoa Valley Museum’s Heritage Day, the Mill Around the Village
