Lesson (6): The Weather

People talk about the weather on the phone and in person.Temperatures: What is the weather like at the moment? What’s the weather forecast for tomorrow? What is your favorite type of weather / favorite season? Why? What is your least type of weather? Why? What is the worst weather you have ever seen? Have you ever been caught in bad weather? If so. and you will find it easy to start a conversation anytime and anywhere with anyone you meet! . Friends and family talk about the weather before they discuss what's new. Even strangers discuss the weather. what did you do? Weather English speakers love to talk about the weather. It is a way of breaking the ice(starting a conversation). Co-workers talk about the weather before starting a hard day of work. Learn the proper vocabulary and expressions.

It looks like it’s only drizzling now. That’s the last time I trust those weathercasters! I hate getting caught in the rain. Let me see if I can round up an umbrella and maybe even a raincoat. but as usual. I’ll be in the bathroom wringing out my clothes.Margo: Oh geez. Ali: Thanks. Maybe it’s letting up. I have to say that it's nice not to have to scrape ice off my windshield in the mornings. As I kid. . that's nothing compared to Minnesota. Minnesota doesn't get any hurricanes that far north. Living in Los Angeles now. Sometimes. I would build snowmen and make angels on the ground.3/ READING: Winter Weather I grew up in Minnesota where the summers are hot and humid and winters are bitterly cold. because even in L. they get snow flurries and blizzards. we get so many inches of snow. there are a lot of fender benders on the road with this kind of weather. most of the year. we have to shovel and plow our way out of our houses.. the weathercaster pre-recorded his weather forecasts because the weather was the same everyday! But. but other parts of the country are hard hit by those every year. when as much as 3 feet of snow can fall. it can sometimes be quite cool in the winter and some areas around the beaches can have dense fog and occasionally drizzling.
