LAST WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS vs. Providence (12/31): The Manchester Monarchs end 2013 with a 3-1 loss to the Providence Bruins at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Tuesday night. Right wing Scott Sabourin scored the lone goal for the Monarchs. Defenseman Zach Trotman, right wing Seth Griffith, and left wing Craig Cunningham each collected goals for the Bruins. Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube (13-7-2) took his seventh loss of the season stopping 20-of-22 shots. Bruins netminder Niklas Svedberg (13-5-3) registered his 13th victory of the season stopping 41-of-41 shots. Manchester was 0-for-2 on the power play. Providence went 1-for-1 with the man advantage. @ Binghamton (1/3): Left wing Mike Hoffman scored with 35 seconds remaining in overtime as the Manchester Monarchs fell to the Binghamton Senators, 5-4 in overtime, at the Broome County Veterans Memorial Arena on Friday night. Right wings A.J. Gale and Brandon Kozun collected goals along with left wing Tanner Pearson and defenseman Colin Miller for the Monarchs. Hoffman was joined by defensemen Fredrik Claesson and Chris Wideman, forward Stephane Da Costa, and left wing David Dziurzynski in scoring for the Senators. Monarchs netminder J.F Berube (13-8-2) took his eigth loss of the season making 26 saves on 31 shots. Binghamton goaltender Nathan Lawson (13-5-0) picked up his 13th win of the season, stopping 31-of-35 shots. Manchester was 2-for-6 on the power play. Binghampton went 1-for-3 with the man advantage. @ WB/Scanton (1/4): Left wing Nick Deslauriers beat goaltender Jeff Deslauriers with 5:55 left in the game to give the Manchester Monarchs a 4-2 win over the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza on Saturday night. Deslauriers, left wing Tanner Pearson, right wing Brien O’Neill, and forward Nick Shore each tallied a goal for Manchester. Right wing Tom Kuhnhackl and center Nick Drazenovic scored for the Penguins. Monarchs goaltender J.F. Berube (14-8-2) earned his 14th win of the season making 24 saves on 26 shots. Penguins netminder Deslauriers (14-8-2) took his eigth loss of the season, stopping 22-of-25 shots. Manchester was 0-for-3 on the power play. LAST WEEK’S HIGHLIGHTS (CONTINUED) Hershey (1/5): The Manchester Monarchs fell to their former teammate, right wing Brandon Segal who collected four points (1-3=4), and the Hershey Bears, 6-3, at Giant Center on Sunday evening. Defeseman Andrew Campbell, forward Nick Shore and left wing Nick Deslauriers scored for the Monarchs. Left wings Nicolas Deschamps and Ryan Stoa, right wings Casey Wellman and Dustin Gazley, and center Peter LeBlanc joined Segal in scoring for the Bears. Monarchs netminder J.F. Berube (14-9-2) picked up his ninth loss of the season making 8 saves on 13 shots. Backup goaltender Mathias Niederberger stopped 13-of-14 shots in relief of Berube. Bears goaltender David Leggio (10-10-2) earned his 10th win of the season stopping 32-of-35 shots. Manchester was 1-for-3 on the power play. Hershey went 3-for-5 with the man advantage. MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES The Manchester Monarchs (23-9-2-4) are ranked first in the Atlantic Division with 52 points. The Providence Bruins (19-11-1-5) sit in second place in the division with 44 points. The St. John’s IceCaps (17-14-1-2) are in third place in the division with 37 points. The Portland Pirates (14-12-1-4) are ranked fourth in the Atlantic Division with 33 points. The Worcester Sharks (14-15-2-1) for sit in fifth place in the Atlantic Division with 31 points. The Monarchs are ranked 26th in the American Hockey League on the power play with 20 goals on 145 attempts. Manchester is ranked 18th in the league on the penalty kill stopping their opponent 135-of-165 times. Manchester’s added to their impressive record on Saturdays with a 4-2 win against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Saturday. The Monarchs have an overall record of 12-1-0-1 on Saturdays. Center Jordan Weal (8-22=30) leads the Monarchs with 22 assists and 30 points. Weal is ranked seventh in the AHL with 22 assists. Right wing Brandon Kozun (9-19=28) ranks second on the Monarchs with 19 assists and 28 points. Right wing Linden Vey (5-14=19) is ranked fifth on the Monarchs with 19 points. Vey has recorded eight points (2-6=8) in seven games since his return from Los Angeles. Vey collected five assists in 14 games with the Kings from November 1 and December 19, 2013. Defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (5-13=18) is ranked sixth on the Monarchs with 18 points. Bodnarchuk leads the Monarchs and the AHL with a plus/minus rating of plus-25. Right Wing Scott Sabourin (9-7=16) is ranked seventh on the Monarchs with 16 points. Sabourin is tied with Kozun for third place on the team with nine goals each.

Right wing Brian O’Neill (8-6=14), left wing Andy Andreoff (6-8=14), and forward Nick Shore (6-8=14) are tied for eighth on the Monarchs with 14 points each. Andreoff leads the team with 77 penalty minutes. O’Neill and Deslauriers lead the Monarchs and are tied for ninth place in the AHL with three game-winning goals. Right wing Tyler Toffoli (7-5=12) is ranked 11th on the Monarchs roster with 12 points. Toffoli has nine goals and eight assists for 17 points in 29 games with the Kings. He was recalled on November 1, 2013. Defenseman Vincent LoVerde (0-11=11) ranks second on the Monarchs and in the AHL with a plus-21 rating. Goaltender Martin Jones was recalled by the Kings on November 13, 2013, and returned to the Monarchs on January 5, 2014. Jones made his National Hockey League debut with the Kings against the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday, December 3. He backstopped the Kings to a 3-2 shootout victory, including going 9-for-9 in the shootout. Jones picked up his first NHL shutout by stopping all 16 shots he faced in the Kings 3-0 victory over the New York Islanders on Saturday, December 7. The rookie netminder then stopped all 31 shots he faced in the Kings 6-0 shutout of the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, December 10. In 11 games with the Kings, Jones collected a record of 8-3-0, a .950 save percentage, a 1.41 goals-against-average, and three shutouts. Jones’ eight wins tied the NHL record for consecutive winning games to start an NHL career with netminder Bob Froese who won his first eight games with the Philadelphia Flyers during the 1982-83 season. -More-

MONARCHS NEWS & NOTES (CONTINUED) Jones is the first goaltender in NHL history to allow an average of less than one goal per game while winning the first eight appearances of his career. Jones is the third goaltender in NHL history to record three shutouts in his first six starts. Goaltender Flat Walsh accomplished the feat with the New York Americans during the 1928-29 season and netminder Frank Brimsek did it with the Boston Bruins during the 1938-39 season. Jones had a record of 9-2-2 with a 2.24 goals-against-average, a .927 save percentage and one shutout when he was recalled on Wednesday, November 13. Jones ranks in the top 10 all-time in the following Monarchs goaltending categories: Games played – 149 – first place Wins – 77 – first place Losses – 56 – first place Ties/Shootout Losses – 9 – tied for second place Goals-against-average – 2.45 – eighth place Save percentage – .921 – tied for seventh place Shutouts – 11 – third place Saves – 4,040 – first place Goaltender Jean-Francios Berube is 14-8-2 in his last 24 starts, all consecutive games since Jones’ recall to the Kings. Berube has collected a 14-9-2 record with a 2.59 goals-against-average and a .909 save percentage in 25 games with the Monarchs this season. Berube set a franchise record for consecutive appearances by a goaltender with 20 games on December 29. His current record-setting streak sits at 24 consecutive games. He surpassed the feat of 19 games set by netminders Travis Scott from February 19 – March 22, 2003, and Jason LaBarbera from November 19 – December 29, 2006. Monarchs Promotions Los Angeles Kings Night – The Monarchs will be honoring the Los Angeles Kings and all the former Monarchs currently playing there when they host the Portland Pirates on Saturday, January 25. The Monarchs players will be wearing a specialty Kings-inspired jersey that was voted on by the fans and will be available in an auction. The first 2,000 fans will also receive a special Kings bank, courtesy of St. Mary’s Bank.
