Happy New Year!!! With the beginning of a new year, I always turn to the Wesleyan Covenant Prayer as I think about New Year’s resolutions. It is a beautiful reminder that we are to give ourselves to God - completely. Pray the words of this prayer often, even every day, as you continue to grow in your relationship with God. Lord, make me what you will. I put myself fully into your hands: Put me to doing, put me to suffering, Let me be employed for you, or laid aside for you, Let me be full, let me be empty, Let me have a ll things, let me have nothing, I freely and with a willing heart Give it all to your pleasure and disposal. O mighty God, The Lord Omnipotent, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, You have now become my Covenant Friend. And I, through your infinite grace, have become your covenant servant. So be it. And let the covenant I have made on earth be ratified in heaven. Amen I am looking forward to a great year and am excited about sharing it with all of you! Carol

Mission Update On December 16, 10 people from the LaGrange District (9 from Pine Mt. UMC and 1 from Greenville UMC) drove to Henderson Settlement in Frakes, Kentucky to help provide Christmas for the people of that area. They were able to provide toys for 500 children and distribute food boxes to 400 families! While they enjoyed the fellowship, they were truly blessed during this Christmas season. Another trip is planned for May 11-17, 2014. If you are interested, call the District Office, or Jim Dye, District Mission Coordinator. Below are some pictures from the December trip.

End of Year Reports The online reporting system for End of Year Reports is available January 629. All churches must submit reports during this time period through Data Services. You can go to the conference website to print blank copies of the report so that you can begin gathering information. There is a box on the Home Page for End of Year Reports. Click on this and then click on the “Reference Material” to get the blank copies. The numbers submitted on these reports are used to calculate your church’s 2015 apportionments, so it is crucial that the information be accurate. Pastors are encouraged to double check all figures. If you need assistance completing your report, contact Dan Dixon - District Statistician, the District Office, or the Statistician Team Member assigned to work with your church. Team members and assignments are available from the district website on the “Reports Due” page. There will be an End of Year Report Workshop on Thursday, January 9 at Mt. Gilead UMC in Sharpsburg (2651 Highway 16) at 7pm. Clergy and laity are invited to attend, especially if this is your first year working with End of Year Reports.

Move Input Forms are due in the District Office no later than Friday, January 24, 2014. Forms were mailed to 2013 SPR Chairs in late November. Clergy forms are available on the conference or district website or in the district office. Be sure all required signatures are on the forms before submitting.

Wednesday, January 8, 2014 is the last day to pay your 2013 Conference Apportionments. Checks must be received by 5:00pm. Carol will be going to Simpsonwood on January 8. If you would like for her to deliver your check, it must be in the District Office no later than 9:00am on that day. All churches are encouraged to check their apportionment balances online to be sure all checks have been received and posted.

Youth Delegates to Annual Conference Needed Each district is asked to provide 4 youth delegates to Annual Conference in Athens June 10-12, 2014. The LaGrange District Board of Laity is now accepting applications from youth ages 1418 who are active in their local church and would like to serve the district in this way. Applications are available on the Children/Youth page of the district website or from the district office. Applications require a letter of recommendation from the pastor and should be submitted to the district office by January 10. All youth delegates stay together during Annual Conference, usually at the Holiday Inn Express. The district will pay for the accommodations and will provide each youth with money for food. Youth are responsible for their own transportation to Athens. Call the district office for more information.

Clergy who changed their UMPIP amounts for 2014 are reminded to submit a Before Tax/After Tax Form to the General Board of Pensions and Health Benefits as soon as possible. Forms are available on the conference website.
