8 True Worship According To Psalm 50

By Samuel Rindlisbacher
The main theme of Psalm 50 is the true worship of God, true praise as it is acceptable to Him. True worship always reveals the majesty and holiness of God, and has this as its object.

Endtime Shoe: Fitting the World for Ten Toes Part II

By Wilfred Hahn
Every indication that the Bible gives us about the final last day 10-king power coalition is that they are roughly proportionate in size. For some time, the US has been the anomaly to this picture, but recent events lead us to wonder: Will America fit into the prophetic shoe, or not at all?

For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD,
as the waters cover the sea (Habakkuk 2:14).
B y A r n o F r o e s e
for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh (Matthew 25:13). This type of watching is not manifested in nervous activity, but rather in a holy assurance that the Lord is coming. No matter what happens in the meantime, the key to a holy life will remain watch. But then comes the answer: And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it (verse 2). The Lord simply reconfirms to Habakkuk that he has a vision from the Lord, and he is to write it down. What is the vision? For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith (verses 3-4). The absolute truth, the undeniable reality of the prophetic Word, is that it may tarry, it may seem as if it is being delayed, but when the time comes, it will not tarry. The Apostle Peter spoke of the last days and said, Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers, walking after

he prophet Habakkuk was perplexed by the things he had seen. He asked questions but received no answer. Yet he is determined to rely on the Lord: I will stand upon my watch, and set me upon the tower, and will watch to see what he will say unto me, and what I shall answer when I am reproved (verse 1). Habakkuk had not only spoken, but he actually complained to God. I am waiting for an answer to my complaint, Menge translates. With this sentence, we see the prophets dilemma. He was left in the dark with no real answer to pass on. This must have been extremely difficult for the prophet, because in the office as such, he is to pass on Gods message to the people. Thats what a prophet is supposed to do. He is the voice of God to the people. A priest does the opposite; he presents the case of the people to God. Habakkuk is not a priest; he is a prophet. How was he to proclaim a message that was not clear, but apparent confusion? Yet Habakkuk does the right thing, and thats expressed in one word: watch. Later in history, we see our Lord giving us the advice to watch: Watch therefore,

their own lusts, And saying, Where is the promise of his coming? for since the fathers fell asleep, all things continue as they were from the beginning of the creation (2 Peter 3:3-4). This is a trap placed by the great deceiver, in which many fall into these days. We hear a lot about the coming of the Lord, the end of the ages and the Rapture of the Church, and yet we see nothing that would relate precisely to the direct fulfillment of the prophetic Word in our days, indicating in indefinite terms that Jesus is coming. The thought pattern of wanting to see visible manifestation in tangible terms leads to the root of deceptionwe then become scoffers in the last days. In verse 9 we receive the reasons for Gods delay, if we may call it so: The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). Habakkuk receives a mighty vision; with one sentence, the prophet reaches to the New Covenant: the just shall live by faith. Paul confirms this statement when he writes to the Romans, The just shall live by faith (Romans 1:17). Immediately after this glorious promise, the power structure and intention of the Antichrist is revealed: Yea also, because he transgresseth by wine, he is a proud man, neither keepeth at home, who enlargeth his desire as hell, and is as death, and cannot be satisfied, but gathereth unto him all nations, and heapeth unto him all people (verse 5). Note the words, all nations and all people. This is doubtless the gathering of the nations against the Anointed. We read of the pre-fulfillment of the gathering of the nations in Acts 4:26-27: The kings of the earth stood up, and the rulers were gathered together against the Lord, and against his Christ. For of a truth against thy holy child Jesus, whom thou hast anointed, both Herod, and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles, and the people of Israel, were gathered together. It was not a local matter that Pontius Pilate gave over the Lord to be crucified by the hand of sinners, but the whole earth is involved, the kings of the earth. We note also the succession: Herod the half-Jew, Pontius Pilate the Roman, the Gentiles (i.e. the entire world), and lastly, the people of Israel. All were gathered together. In the first place, however, this is addressed to the king of Babylon during those days. This is evident from the next 3 verses: Shall not all these take up a parable against him, and a taunting proverb against him, and say, Woe to him that increaseth that which is not his! how long? and to him that ladeth himself with thick clay! Shall they not rise up suddenly that shall bite thee, and awake that shall vex thee, and thou shalt be for booties unto them? Because thou hast spoiled many nations, all the remnant of the people shall spoil thee; because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein (Habakkuk 2:6-8). Here we see the oppressed become the tools of judgment of the Oppressor. Next comes the four-fold Woe upon Babylon at the time of the judgment and upon Mystery Babylon of the end times. 1. Woe to him that coveteth an evil covetousness to his house, that he may set his nest on high, that he may be delivered from the power of evil! Thou hast consulted shame to thy house by cutting off many people, and hast sinned

The object of Midnight Call is to call people everywhere to Christ, to proclaim the Second Coming of Christ, to prepare Christians for His coming, and to uphold the faith and warn of false doctrines. Midnight Call magazine is available in twelve languages. All work done through radio, literature and missionaries is supported entirely by the gifts and free will offerings of Gods people. STATEMENT OF FAITH WE BELIEVE in the divine inspiration of the whole Bible and therewith the infallibility of the Holy Scripture, which is Gods Word, and in the eternal Triune God: Father, Son and Holy Spirit. WE BELIEVE Jesus Christ, the Son of God, was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, and shed His blood to save mankind. He died and arose bodily the third day and later ascended into heaven. WE BELIEVE that the Lord Jesus Christ died in the place of each individual sinner and that all who believe in Him as their personal Savior are justified through His shed blood and have become children of God. WE BELIEVE that Israel is Gods chosen people, and that the restoration of the Jews to their own land is the fulfillment of the Word of God. WE BELIEVE in the pretribulational appearance of Jesus Christ for the Rapture of His Church (all born again believers). WE BELIEVE in the immortality of our souls and the resurrection of our bodies, and in the resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost.

against thy soul. For the stone shall cry out of the wall, and the beam out of the timber shall answer it (verses 9-11). This is judgment against covetousness. It is the total disregarding of anyone for the sake of self-preservation. But the materialistic accomplishment, i.e. stone and beam, will testify against covetousness; the stones cry out and the timber confirm it. Covetousness in our time and age is the accepted norm in the business world. Without it, our so-called free enterprise system would instantly collapse. 2. Woe to him that buildeth a town with blood, and stablisheth a city by iniquity! Behold, is it not of the LORD of hosts that the people shall labor in the very fire, and the people shall weary themselves for very vanity? For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea (verses 12-14). We may be too quick to brush off such judgment upon our own nation, because we have been told that it is always the others. But can you name a nation that was not built on blood and established by iniquity? There is none! If you have the slightest doubt about it, then please read Isaiah 64:6: But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away. Notice that this does not speak of our evil deeds, our corruptness, or unrighteousness; this speaks of our righteousness. That means the very best we can offer are filthy rags. It seems that we have vastly overestimated our sense of righteousness and equally underestimated our position as violators against the righteous God. In contrast to the absolute hopelessness of the world, we read of the solid rock assurance: For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea (verse 14). This goes far beyond literal Babylon, even beyond Mystery Babylon, and reaches into the kingdom of God on earth, the thousand-year peace when the earth shall be filled with the knowledge and the glory of the Lord. 3. Woe unto him that giveth his neighbor drink, that puttest thy bottle to him, and makest him drunken also, that thou mayest look on their nakedness! Thou art filled with shame for glory: drink thou also, and let thy foreskin be uncovered: the cup of the LORD'S right hand shall be turned unto thee, and shameful spewing shall be on thy glory. For the violence of Lebanon shall cover thee, and the spoil of beasts, which made them afraid, because of men's blood, and for the violence of the land, of the city, and of all that dwell therein. What profiteth the graven image that the maker thereof hath graven it; the molten image, and a teacher of lies, that the maker of his work trusteth therein, to make dumb idols? (verses 15-18). The words of the Bible are very blunt; there is no diplomatic mincing of words, but brutal exposure of the nature of mankind. What does drinking alcoholic beverages cause? Demoralizing exposure. We have already read Revelation 18:3, but lets read the first part again: For all nations have drunk of the wine of the wrath of her fornication. The drinking of alcoholic beverages causes a person to reveal hidden things he dare not utter when sober. That is why the Bible warns us strongly in Ephesians 5:18: And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit. Luther translates this: Be not filled with wine which results in a disorderly conduct.

Here the whole world is addressed, particularly the world in the end times. The prophet Jeremiah proclaims: Then took I the cup at the LORD'S hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them (Jeremiah 25:17,26). This speaks of the world we are living in today. Mankind loves to be deceived. Whatever the prince of darkness tells the world is quickly accepted. At the height of the great deception, when Satan with all lying signs and wonders deceives the world, God gives His seal of approval: And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie (2 Thessalonians 2:11). The prophet asks questions regarding graven images and idols, which is nothing other than trusting in our modern society and worshiping the works of our hands, the great achievements of the industrialized world, the possessions and indulgence of the spirit of materialism. 4. Woe unto him that saith to the wood, Awake; to the dumb stone, Arise, it shall teach! Behold, it is laid over with gold and silver, and there is no breath at all in the midst of it. But the LORD is in his holy temple: let all the earth keep silence before him (Habakkuk 2:19-20). We may laugh about people who believe in materials, such as wood, stone, gold and silver, but when we take a closer look at modern science and its determination that all of creation is just a coincidence in the process of evolution, we clearly see that our world indeed does worship materials. People of today have much more faith in science than many would want to admit. Among the many books on my shelf, there is one titled, When Things Start To Think, by Neil Gershenfeld. On the inside cover it says, We live in a world of increasingly intrusive information technology requiring that people meet the needs of machines rather than the other way around. How far scientists have gone already, we really dont know, but we do know what the Bible has to say about the epitome of scientific development, which is documented for us in Revelation 13:14-15: And deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the means of those miracles which he had power to do in the sight of the beast; saying to them that dwell on the earth, that they should make an image to the beast, which had the wound by a sword, and did live. And he had power to give life unto the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak, and cause that as many as would not worship the image of the beast should be killed. People on the earth will manufacture a machine (image) that will be alive, give orders and be capable of distinguishing who is worshiping the image of the beast and who is not. If we only knew the extent of the brutal capacity of mankind to possess material riches in order to find security, then we would understand that indeed man has began to worship materials (creation) instead of the Creator of materials. This chapter concludes with the absolute of Gods total dominance, and we can only follow the advice of the last sentence: Let all the earth keep silent before him. MC

Call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me (Psalm 50:15). Many people are familiar with these words from Psalm 50:15, but this Bible verse is in a context that we should take note of. The main theme of Psalm 50 is the true worship of God, true praise as it is acceptable to Him.

BY Samuel Rindlisbacher

God calls heaven and earth to be His witnesses and reminds His people of His covenant with them. He has to accuse Israel. It is an accusation against the empty outward rituals, the empty ceremonies. To apply it to our times, He accuses us of having a Christianity without Christ!
The true worship of God begins with Creation, The mighty God, even the Lord, hath spoken, and called the earth from the rising of the sun unto the going down thereof (verse 1). Psalm 19:1 says the same thing, The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament showeth his handywork.

Out of Zion, the perfection of beauty, God hath shined. Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him (verses 2-3). The true worship of God always reveals the majesty and holiness of God, and has this as its object. This can be seen in the Bible where God reveals Himself directly to man in a so-called theophany, for instance. When God met Moses we read, And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God (Exodus 3:6). Isaiah exclaimed, Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips (Isaiah 6:5). Elijah wrapped his face in his mantle (1 Kings 19:13). Paul broke down and, trembling and astonished said, Lord what wilt thou have me to do? (Acts 9:6). Thus, true worship always has God Himself as its object. This also contains an element of shock at His holiness and stipulates a corresponding lifestyle.

God laments bitterly over the lack of a corresponding lifestyle in Psalm 50, He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself (verses 4-6). God calls heaven and earth to be His witnesses and reminds His people of His covenant with them. He has to accuse Israel. It is an accusation against the empty outward rituals, the empty ceremonies. To apply it to our times, He accuses us of having a Christianity without Christ! Hear, O my people, and I will speak; O Israel, and I will testify against thee: I am God, even thy God. I will not reprove thee for thy sacrifices or thy burnt offerings, to have been continually before me. I will take no bullock out of thy house, nor he goats out of the folds. For every beast of the forest is mine, and the cattle upon a thousand hills. I know all the fowls of the mountains: and the wild

True Worship According To Psalm 50

We draw God down to our own level. Often when Christians are rebuked on account of their sins, they respond with the following answer, For me its okay! I dont have a problem with it. Simultaneously, however, like Israel at that time, they are surprised that God does not hear them, that He cannot hear them! They have forgotten that God has bound His promises to a condition.
beasts of the field are mine. If I were hungry, I would not tell thee: for the world is mine, and the fullness thereof. Will I eat the flesh of bulls, or drink the blood of goats? (verses 7-13). God is against a mere outward form of church worship without any Biblical content. Everything has become a show in many churches, having no true relationship with God. It is as Isaiah laments on Gods behalf, Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honor me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men (Isaiah 29:13). deceit. Thou sittest and speakest against thy brother; thou slanderest thine own mothers son (verses 16-20). These things hast thou done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was altogether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and set them in order before thine eyes (verse 21). We call ourselves Christians, although we have made ourselves a God who does not correspond with the God of the Bible, but with our own wishes and imaginations. Therefore, we need not be surprised when God is silent. The fault is not with Him, but with us. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver (verse 22). In spite of all her religion, Israelmaybe we alsohas forgotten God. This is why He is silent. This is why we can no longer hear His voice.

In the midst of this formalism God says to His people, Offer unto God thanksgiving; and pay thy vows unto the most High: and call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me (Psalm 50:14-15). God wants to say to His people that true sacrifice is not an outward but an inward thing, a matter of the heart. God even emphasizes this and says, Offer unto God thanksgivingcommit yourself! Such worship has the glorious promise, Call upon me in the day of trouble; I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

This psalm also shows us the solution to this problem. It lies in meditating on what God understands by true worship, namely that which it says in verse 23, Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God. True worship begins where I begin to behave unconditionally in accordance with Gods Word. And

God has to rebuke His people for their tragic rebellion, and says to them, What hast thou to do to declare my statutes, or that thou shouldest take my covenant in thy mouth? Seeing thou hatest instruction, and castest my words behind thee. When thou sawest a thief, then thou consentedst with him, and hast been partaker with adulterers. Thou givest thy mouth to evil, and thy tongue frameth

word only, and my servant shall be healed (verses 5-8). We find here three principles of true prayer. Faith says, Lord, You can! Reverence adds, If You will! And humility says, I am not worth Your doing it!

true worship is Father, not my but Thy will be done. I thank You for whatever way You lead me. Thank You that You have thoughts of peace even when I dont know the way. Thank You that You are leading me and have given me the guarantee that You will bring me to the goal.

We see in Matthew 8:1-8 what such prayer looks like. These verses tell of two miracles of divine grace: When he was come down from the mountain, great multitudes followed him. And, behold, there came a leper and worshiped him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean. And Jesus put forth his hand and touched him, saying, I will; be thou clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleaned (verses 1-3). And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the

At the same time, we should not forget, however God answers our prayers, that the name of God must be glorified above all. We know full well that God also does miracles today. But God does not always answer our prayers in the way we would like Him to. This situation is described for us in Acts 12. Both James (in verse 2) and Peter (verse 2ff) are in prison. Intensive prayer is made for both of them. Both of them know that they are under Gods protection. To the one, James, God says, Well done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make thee ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy lord (Matthew 25:21). James was beheaded. Peter is given the commission, Go into the vineyard, for the harvest is ripe! And Peter escapes from the prison in a miraculous way to work in Gods vineyard. Both possibilities are Gods ways. Can we also say Yes, however God leads us?

God wants to be asked; He wants to hear us. This depends on obedience to His Word, however, and a correspondingly sanctified life. Knowing that He hears and answers, we may leave the decision to Him, in the knowledge that He will do the right thing, whatever the answer may be. God says in this connection, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end (Jeremiah 29:11). MC MR0908/314

Endtime Shoe: Fitting the World for Ten Toes Part II

B y W i l f r e d H a h n

In Daniel 2:41-42, we see that an endtime power coalition of 10 kings is portrayed as 10 toes. In this chapter we read the account of Nebuchadnezzars famous vision, in which he saw a tall statue made of various materials, from a head of gold down to 10 toes of iron and clay. This vision outlined the future kingdoms and power structures of the Gentiles, right to the time of the return of Jesus Christ, when He establishes his millennial reign upon earth.

s already pointed out in Part I, these 10 kings are shown at least four other times in the Bible Daniel 7, Revelation 12, 13 and 17. This group is referenced as 10 horns, 10 toes or 10 kings, exactly 10 times. Crucially, this endtime power coalition is a significant prophecymost certainly for those earth dwellers that will not be raptured away for at least one other reason. The Bible expressly indicates that these 10 kings must appear before the Antichrist is revealed (Daniel 7:24). These kings would be the equivalent to 10 male leaders of sovereign nations today. This endtime 10-king power coalition may even be prefigured in Genesis. This would not be surprising. Its often said

that the entire Bible is enfolded in the book of Genesis, and that the whole Bible is Genesis unfolded. As the Bible is divinely written by the same Spirit, the beginning must surely align with the end. Just as endtime globalization can be seen foreshadowed in Genesis (the story of Joseph, for example), an outline for the 10 kings can be found in Genesis 14. This chapter tells the story about Lots household being looted and carried away by a northern coalition of four kings. These [] kings seized all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah and all their food; then they went away. They also carried off Abram's nephew Lot and his possessions, since he was living in Sodom (Genesis 14:11-12).

Endtime Shoe: Fitting the World for Ten Toes Part II

An unusually large number of kings, kingdoms and alliances are mentioned in this chapter, making for some interesting alignments with other prophecies concerning the last-day power jockeying of 10 kings and the Antichrist. For example, exactly 10 kings are named in this chapter. Significance of 10 Toes Lets return to Nebuchadnezzars vision of 10 toes, as it contains a very important clue. Studying this picture, it would be reasonable to conclude that the world is already very near a last world power structure comprised of 10 kings. But, here we discover an ill-fitting fact. Were Nebuchadnezzars vision to apply to our day, the feet would be seen to be quite lopsided and deformed. Why? They would only have only one big toe. In fact, this toe would have looked grossly oversized relative to both feet. Every indication that the Bible gives us about the final last day 10-king power coalition is that they are roughly proportionate in size. First, in Daniel 2 these kings are shown as a normal set of 10 toes (verses 4142), and in Daniel 7, Revelation 12, 13 and 17 they are shown as 10 horns. In the horn imagery, the 10 are compared in size only once, and this to an emerging 11th horn, a small one that then uproots three of the existing horns (Daniel 7:8). As such, we are led to recognize that the final 10 kings will not be small in size (relative to other nations of the world), and that some will assuredly be bigger or more powerful than others, just as the big toe is normally bigger than the smallest of the toes. But in the recent era, there has only been one big toea hugely outsized one at thatthat does not yet fit into the shoe. Walter Russell Meade points out in a recent book1, that the Anglo Saxon countries of Britain and America have been on top of the world for several centuries (though sometimes fighting each other). We recognize here that the world has really only had one big toe these past three hundred years or so, and a hugely disproportionate toe at that. For the time being, the US is still the most powerful nation in the world. It represents a very big toe so big, in fact, that it still can render any other coalition of 10 kings ineffective. As such, we recognize that a resizing of the relative powers of 10 major nations must yet happen before the prophesied time of the 10 kings will occur. Will America fit into the shoe or not at all? Recent global financial events and Americas rapid economic fall make this a timely question. Are we now seeing these necessary changes beginning to unfold the big toe stubbed? Resizing Needed to Fit Into the Endtime Shoe Since Bible prophecy clearly outlines that there will be a 10-nation power coalition, not a foot with one big toe, we can conclude that this big toe must then become comparatively smaller. While the British Empire has been removed from the pinnacle of power for more than half a century, its younger cousin, the US, now undoubtedly also faces a relative decline. By whatever meansthe Rapture, self-inflicted, deserved or divinely willedthis has to happen if the Bible is to be proved correct. In fact, viewed against the pace of past human history, it must be said that this shift with respect to America is happening extremely suddenly (even without a Rapture).

the rest of the world) may soar to as much as 13% of the size of the economy, a level that seems unthinkable. To be sure, economic and financial strength is only one measure of global power, though a most important one in this present Age of Global Capital. On these measures, other nations of the world are now superseding the US. For example, for the first time in perhaps a half-century, another nationChinaaccounted for the most global economic growth in 2007. While America is now by far the worlds greatest debtor nation, it is Asia that now houses two-thirds of the worlds international financial reserves. While no trend is likely to be safely predictable, these are indeed new signs of the times. Shared Globalism Going Forward Now that the contagion of financial crisis has rocked the entire world, the calls for greater global coordination are becoming shrill. For example, said Miguel Angel Ordonez, Spains ECB (European Central Bank) Governor, Weve got to get together on both sides of the Atlantic. It is absolutely essential to co-ordinate everything, including monetary policy.3 According to a global financial analyst, A global conference (along the lines of Bretton Woods) under a respected chairman (Paul Volcker is the obvious choice) must be convened. It would bring together all the major players including the vital creditor nationsChina, Japan develop a framework for the major economic reforms (currency policies, fiscal disciplines and trade barriers) to work towards a resolution of the crisis.4 To that end, several world meeting forums have been planned. The heads of state for Britain and France organized support for their global plans at a special EU summit. G20 meetings have been scheduled, the first to take place in Wash-

Less than five years ago, though the seeds of Americas moral and economic decline had long been evident, the US was still seen as an invincible, world-dominating power in every sense. At the time, geopolitical analysts were still actively debating the question of whether the United States should really be considered an empire in the classical sense. Many analysts pooh-poohed any notion that America might be vulnerable, maintaining that the 21st century would belong to the US, as did the 20th. One may be too hasty in predicting Americas demise on the world scene, but it cannot be denied that trends of relative deterioration have indeed been very rapid in recent years. Joseph Stiglitz, former Chief Economist of the World Bank, commented recently that in the space of the two terms of the recent Bush government, the nations government budget went from a surplus of $128 billion to a certain legacy of a $10 trillion deficit for the next president. Says Stiglitz, The national debt has increased by 65%, by nearly $10 trillion to which the debts of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae (the nations largest mortgage providers) must be added. Meanwhile, we are saddled with the cost of two wars. The price tag for the one in Iraq alone will [] ultimately exceed $3 trillion.2 Mr. Stiglitz will likely prove too optimistic. Given the scale of financial and economic crises, total government debt in America may double again in the space of the next 3 to 5 years. In the next year alone, the US current account deficit (money that must be borrowed from

ington, followed by a second one in Paris. Some geo-political analysts are encouraged by the spirit of multipolarism that is apparently galvanizing a new participative spirit for these meetings. (Multipolarism is a key and important concept discussed in Part I.) Even Chinas Premier, Wen Jiabao, is keenly aware of the direct connection his country has to Americas recent financial troubles, saying, If anything goes wrong in the US financial sector, we are anxious about the safety and security of Chinese capital.5 If anything, due to the catastrophic financial and currency collapses spanning the world, such nations as Iceland, Australia and others have realized that it is too costly and dangerous to have their own currency. Even Denmark and Sweden, two staunch hold-outs in adopting the euro, may be rethinking their position. All in all, what appears as global disorder at presenta time of near fatal financial collapseactually will act as a catalyst in the rapid metamorphosis to a 10-king global power coalition. There is a broad consensus now that a group of nations need to come together to find economic and financial solutions for the world. How many nations? Some argue that 20 is too many, and others that the G7 is not enough. Could a group of 10 emerge? We can definitely draw several conclusions. First, whatever new global organization emerges, its powers will be shared more equally in the future. Multipolarism must eventually gain ground, according to Bible prophecy. The United States will eventually lose its outsized number of votes and vetoes in such organizations as the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and others. The second conclusion we can safely draw is that we live in a time where an alignment of 10 kings could be on our very doorstep. There is yet one more sure conclusiona future period of apparent prosperity around the globe, even if only fleeting. One More Last Day Boom? If the Lord tarries, it is likely that the world will yet see at least one more economic recovery. Viewed from the midst of the present financial wreckage, this seems so implausible bordering on the ridiculous. But, in fact, a global economic boom could yet occur at some point in the future. Not to forget, it was only as little as 12 months ago, that the notion that the entire world would fall into the grips of a global credit panic was thought to be equally ridiculous. Thats not to say that America or other western nations might soon see economic recoveries. Likely not. But, as pointed out, Bible prophecy indicates that a time is yet ahead where the world will feel much more complacent than we see today. At the time that the final troubles come upon the world, they will occur suddenly like a trap (Luke 21:34). In this verse we see that people will be more preoccupied with indulgence and the cares of this world, than great global crises. Moreover, Jesus told the disciples that the world will be generally unwares in the last days. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away (Matthew 24:37-39). For all of these conditions to occur, a recovery, repair or reform of world financial systems and economies must first unfold. Thoughts to Ponder For the last three centuries, there has only been one big toe. But this cannot

cepts and ways voluntarily. Yes, God foreknows what our choices will be, but that is not the same as predestinating our willful actions. Yet, according to Bible prophecy, America must decline relative to the 10 kings in one way or another. But that is not to say that it is prophetically necessary for America to rush and accelerate the fulfillment of prophecy by collapsing into a toothless tiger. Prophecy in this case can be fulfilled in a number of ways. 10 other kings could become powerful enough to supersede the geopolitical position of the US, or at the other extreme, America be disastrously downsized either becoming one of the 10 kings or not at all. Which will it be? The jury is out. It is up to the nations leaders and citizens. However, to date, the signs are not hopeful. During Americas most recent presidential election, Christian candidates were openly ridiculed and topics such as the end of days were fodder for public scoffing. Greater shifts to immorality and rebelliousness may now lie ahead. Most certainly, the world will rush together into new alliances, reforming its economic and financial policies in a coordinated fashion, something that is only possible in a multi-polar world. More than anything, the world and America are looking for financial and economic solutions. Any person who can deliver such policies will be thankfully accepted as a type of savior. Morality and godliness can wait. In this regard, Americas materialism can in large part be blamed upon the satanic distortions of so-called religious leaders that have infected the entire nation with prosperity gospel and utilitarianism. And, very definitely, the world is looking for a champion savior right now. Shouts the title of a recent economic re-

continue if prophecy is to be fulfilled. This change is very likely already underfoot. The recent economic and financial disasters of the past year (in fact, originating in the US) likely play a significant role in the geopolitical birth pangs and earthquakes of an emerging global power distribution that the Bible describes as taking form in the very last days. The rise of other nations such as China, India, Brazil, Russia and perhaps oil-exporting nations must be seen as part of this rebalancing process. Actually, the time of the 10 kings could unfold upon the world very suddenly. It may already be here. Surely, the facts outlined to this point will not be received as being very hopeful. But that would be a wrong perception. It is never too late for a nation to repent. God said to Israel, [] if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land (2 Chronicles 7:14). Repentance is an option provided that it is not past the point of return, where God refuses to listen. But we must not make the mistake of Jonah. He was upset with God when the citizens of Nineveh chose to heed his message of judgment. As a result, Ninevehs demise was delayed for another 150 years or so. Our Lord, for the most part, allows us the freedom to choose to follow His pre16

port, China: Savior of the World!6 The cover of Forbes magazine recently blared the title, Capitalism Will Save Us. Wrote a prominent journalist recently, We are saved. Amid the rubble of the worlds financial markets, we can catch sight of the foundations of a new international order. The big lesson of the crisis has been learnt: we cannot escape our mutual dependence.7 These comments betray that the world is looking for an economic savior, not the eternal One. We look for our Savior elsewhere. Said the Apostle Paul to the Philippians: But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body (Philippians 3:20-21). While the world stampedes into greater global interconnectedness and hyperstates of commercial idolatry in its quest for the security of grain and bread, it completely ignores the real bread. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world (John 6:33). I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever (John 6:51). MC ENDNOTES

his is the theme for our 4-6 October 2009 Atlantic Coast Prophecy Conference in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. What does this theme mean for us today? In simple words, prophecies written down thousands of years ago are beginning to be fulfilled in our days. Today, with astonishment we see the headlines in the news media all over the world proclaiming with a unified voice the same thing: financial chaos and drastic economic downturn threatens the whole world. What is the answer? Politicians agree: Only by international actionsnamely, applying international lawcan we avoid a financial and economic Armageddon. We know that it was impossible a hundred years ago to have the leaders of the world come to a unified conclusion. Actually, the world was so divided that two world wars were fought in the 1900s. Yet Scripture says, and all the world wondered after the beast. It literally means the entire world. That too was impossible a century ago. When Revelation 18 documents the fall of Mystery Babylon, it says in verse 23, for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. Note all nations. How about religion? And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him (Revelation 13:8). When will global worship become reality? Also, the judgments pronounced upon planet Earth are definitely global. All that was not possible for almost 2,000 years. Todays developments will lead toward this global empire. The nations of the world are forced

to take steps that will bind them together into a united, inseparable bloc. Where will it all lead? We have the answer in Psalm 2:1-3: Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us. That is the ultimate aim of the nations of the world.

Our Lord Jesus Christ has not left us alone. We are not in the dark, because we have His Word. The last book of the Bible begins with these words: The Revelation of Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to show unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass. Are we seeing some of the things mentioned in the Bible? The answer is yes, today more than ever. While the news media bombards us with one sensational report after another, we have the eternal Word of God: We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts (2 Peter 1:19). That is why we gather with like-minded Christians to study the prophetic Word. At the Atlantic Coast Prophecy Conference you will hear Bible scholars expound the Word of God, presenting clear evidence that we are living in the last stages of the end times. We can expect this conference to be a highlight of 2009.

Outlines for Stricter Rules

Plans to make banks hold greater capital reserves and limit the amount they can borrow have been outlined by the worlds leading banking watchdog in an effort to prevent a repeat of the credit crisis. The proposals from the standard-setting Basel Committee on Banking Supervision are an attempt to salvage a global regulatory framework for the industry. The Basel Committee signaled that over the long term it would encourage banks to make provisions for bad debts throughout the economic cycle. This would boost banks capital reserves while also providing a brake on growth in new lending. The watchdog also signaled it might introduce rules to limit the absolute amount of debt a bank can take on relative to its capital base. This measure, known as a leverage ratio, had been fiercely resisted by European banks but was recently introduced by the Swiss regulator following the meltdown at UBS. Basel officials believe the new rules, details of which will be drawn up over the next year [2009], would provide a basis for reestablishing privately owned financial institutions. However, they stressed that the Basel Committee had no intention of forcing through new measures until the crisis has eased.

Bible is Americas Favorite Book

When it comes to literary pursuits in the United States most people agree on at least one thingthe most popular book is the Bible, according to a new survey.
It came in first in a Harris Poll of nearly 2,513 adults but the second choice in the survey was not as clear-cut. While the Bible is number one among each of the different demographic groups, there is a large difference in the number two favorite book, Harris said in a statement announcing the results. Men chose J.R.R. Tolkien's The Lord of the Rings and women selected Margaret Mitchell's Gone With the Wind as their second-favorite book, according to the online poll. But the second choice for 18- to 31-yearolds was J.K. Rowling's Harry Potter series, while 32- to 43-year-olds named Stephen Kings The Stand and Dan Brown's Angels and Demons. Picks for second-favorite book also varied according to region. Gone With the Wind was number two in the southern and midwestern United States while easterners chose The Lord of the Rings and westerners opted for The Stand. Whites and Hispanics picked Gone With the Wind as their second-favorite book after the Bible, while African-Americans preferred Angels and Demons.

Finally, they may not agree on candidates, but one thing that brings together partisans is their favorite book. For Republicans, Democrats and Independents, the top two books are the samethe Bible followed by Gone With the Wind. (Reuters, Reporting by Julie Mollins; editing by Patricia Reaney), 4 September 2008

It is certainly good news to read that the Bible is Americas favorite book, but the question is, Is it being read? Gods promise is clear: Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein: for the time is at hand (Revelation 1:3). 3398

Switzerland is one of the most fiercely independent nations in the world, and also one of the richest. Although not a member of the European Union, it is following all

rules and regulations that come out of Brussels. But when it comes to money, the Swiss franc is considered to be the worlds strongest currency. This small and landlocked country, with little to no natural re-

sources, is leading the world in the direction of stricter rules and regulations for the global banking industry. They apparently have the needed power money-wise.

The Elect... Orchestrated Conspiracy... Blue Lodge

The Elect Dear Arno Froese, Once again thanks for your very beautifully produced magazine. As a NT professor, I share your hope for the coming Kingdom at the return of the Messiah. I am sure the seventieth week of Daniel is future. Now my challenge (hope you will not object!). It seems most arbitrary to tell us that the elect in Matthew 24 are the Jews and not the disciples of Jesus. Matthew used the same word when he said, many are called and few are elect. On what possible basis can Jesus then have meant non-Christian Jews when referring to the elect? Throughout the discourse he is speaking to the apostles who are the foundation not of Judaism but of the church we belong to as Christians. Jesus answers the apostles in detail about what to do when the abomination of desolation appears. When you seethen flee, etc. On your dispensationalist theory, none of this is addressed to you and me! So then what else of Jesus teaching is not for us? The whole theory is fraught with problems. It is clear that Paul in 2 Thessalonians 1 expected relief for the believers at the revelation of the Lord Jesus in power and glory to take vengeance on his enemies. No one surely could have written that who believed that he was expecting relief from affliction seven years earlier. Paul obviously saw relief coming for his flock at the time of the single Parousia. I mention this, because if post-tribs are right (immediately postHe gathers the elect,) then the other view promotes a false hope, which will not occur.
F E B R U A RY 2 0 0 9 21

So my basic question is about what seems to be quite arbitrarysuddenly to remove the gathering text from the church. I thought Jesus teaches us through what he taught to the apostles, who represent the foundation of the whole international body of Christ.
-Anthony Buzzard, Fayetteville, GA

Answer: According to 2 Timothy 3:16, all Scripture is given to the believer. While some Scriptures target one group more than another, no believer is excluded from taking the whole Scripture as a message of God, applicable for all times and eternity. According to Isaiah 45:4 and 65:9, Israel is Gods elect. But, as you know, these elect went through the fire of persecution, climaxing in the six million murder of the Jewish people under the rule of Nazi Germany. That, however, does not change their position as the elect. This is also applicable for the church. You mentioned 2 Thessalonians 1, indicating that the Lord will come and take vengeance. That is true, but there is a time span of 2,000 years in between. Look at Acts 2:16-18, where Peter confirms fulfillment of Bible prophecy according to Joel. That part was fulfilled. Yet he continues: And I will shew wonders in heaven above, and signs in the earth beneath; blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke: The sun shall be turned into darkness, and the moon into blood, before that great and notable day of the Lord come (verses 19-20). That part has not been fulfilled: the sun has not turned into darkness and the moon into blood thats still to come. Look at Isaiah 61:1 and 2: Part one was fulfilled as docu-

mented by the Lord Himself in Luke 4:21: This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears. But note He left out the words, And the day of vengeance of our God. That part is yet to come. Matthew 24 speaks primarily to the disciples and the Jews in Israel. Verse 31 clearly reveals that the Lord, shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. This is the gathering of the remnant of the Jewish people who are still in the Diaspora. They will have to be brought back to Israel supernaturally. After all, Ezekiel 39:28 must be fulfilled: I have gathered them unto their own land, and have left none of them any more there. The coming of the Lord for the Church is a different event where the Lord Himself comes, not to earth, but in the clouds of heaven (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17). For the Church, He comes personally, and the meeting place is between heaven and earth. To gather His elect He sends His angels to do the job.

Orchestrated Conspiracy Dear Mr. Froese, I have found your writing, and the writing of those connected with MCM, to be very informed and well stated. Of course, I do not agree with everything I read, however, on the key points we are on the same [spiritual] page. I am particularly impressed with the thorough research into your works on the end time period (now). My reason for writing: I have a question about information conveyed to me by an individual in the financial sector, for whom

I provide periodic lessons or Bible study meditations. He asserts that the current economic situation we find ourselves in, both nationally and globally is predictable (I agree based on certain financial behaviors) and directed (toward a one-world currency). Do you believe that this was orchestrated for the purpose of decimating our economy in favor of worldwide ownership of our assets (which have become pretty much worthless based on the credit and mortgage bubble) and the forced march toward a global currency, i.e. the Euro or a similar currency with strength like credit? See pages 190 on having one mind, and 252 on universal currency in How Democracy Will Elect the Antichrist. My other nagging concern is that for all of the talk of God, there is precious little said about Jesus Christ. Everyone seems to think we are a Christian nation because our forefathers believed in God, but it just isnt so! They were Deists who were looking for freedom to worship without the yokes of the Catholic or Anglican Churches. Nowhere in our Constitution or Declaration is Jesus mentioned, to my knowledge. I see this as one of the largest lies that has gained increasing support without any credible response from the faith community of Christ followers. I would like to know your thoughts on these subjects. Thanks and blessings in Christ Jesus.
-Rev. Sean Lawrence, Middletown, OH

Answer: Who is doing the orchestrating? My answer: No one we can name except the one named in the BibleSatan. He uses the nations of the world to fabricate a peaceful society in order to present himself to the world as Jesus Christ, the Messiah of Israel and the Savior of the world. You are right on target that this entire fiasco is leading toward a global currency, global economy, and finally, a global religion. Your statement, decimating our economy in favor of worldwide ownership of our assets is not quite accurate. We are, according to the Financial Times, the greatest debtor of the world. In plain words, we owe to the world, not they to us. The definition Christian nation is Vatican intellectual property and copied by many well meaning American Christians. There is one problem. The Bible makes no provision whatsoever for a nation to be wholly Christian. That actually is the teaching of another gospel; namely, that of the Antichrist, which we can read about in 2 Corinthians 11. The devil laughs all the way to hell with such philosophical thinking as a Christian nation.

Blue Lodge Dear Midnight Call: I am sending you a donation for some books and also to aid in your efforts. I know you are sincere in what you do. But you need to be better informed about the Masonic Blue Lodge and for what it stands. You have a very closed mind as to what the Masonic Blue Lodge is all about. You have never really looked into or read what the Freemasons are really about or learned about their beliefs. They are real Christians and they worship: Our Father in Heaven, His Son, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is with every one of them. Enclosed is a personal testimony written by a true Mason, a true Christian, and an educated elderly Presbyterian minister. You need to take his words seriously.

This is not really a secret organization. You know who they are or can find that out. You know where they meet and the times they meet. You must ask them to really explain their thoughts, purposes and their goals in their workings as Free Masonic men. This group of honorable men is joined into an organization that dates back to Solomons Temple, where workingmen were called Masons. Their teachings come from the growth of the organization since that time. The Masons are no longer working Masons, but symbolize the working with a square and compass in their lives. They helped build our countrys Constitution and other important legislation and principles of which we stand as a democracy. Our printed monies have symbols of the Masonic influence and the In God We Trust. Does that sound like something they should be criticized and put down for, because of a

misunderstanding? You really need to analyze why you feel this strongly about an organization that has done nothing but good for our country, the United States of America. Do you think God would have made our country so great if it hadnt been for the Christian development and all the work they put into it? I enjoy your magazines and find them enlightening. But it does not make me feel good about the way you portray the Masonic organization, which does so much for our country, youth and the elderly.
-Mrs. Eleanor M. Steptoe, Miller, SD

Answer: You are in error to assume that I am not informed about the Freemason philosophy and their lodges. Besides, today one can quickly gather information through the internet and obtain relatively reliable answers to virtually all questions. Of course, the Masonic Lodges are benevolent institutions and are commendable. Also, it is a historic fact that the Masons were the major contributors toward the political establishment of the United States. But the issue for us Christians is the religious content of Freemasonry. While we agree that religion can be beneficial, we must be made aware that Biblebased Christianity is distinctly different from Freemason Christianity. You enclosed the testimony of a certain Mr. William Pfautz, who stated that the goal of Masonry is to become a better man. Surely there is nothing wrong with self-improvement, but biblical Christianity has a totally different goal. We are to pro-

claim the truth of Holy Scripture so anyone who hears will recognize his total and absolute hopelessness and realize his through and through corrupt sinful nature. In short, biblical Christianity proclaims the truth aimed to prepare man for eternity. There is only one way and one name given under heaven by which man can be saved, and that is Jesus Christ and Him alone. The Bible stands diametrically opposed to Mr. Pfautzs testimony: no matter by what name we may call Him (God). You are extremely liberal with your statement, They (Freemasons) are real Christians and they worship our Father in Heaven, His Son Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit is with every one of them. That means Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, and agnostics have now become Christians? You are amazingly generous with your definition of a Christian. The Bible makes quite a different statement: Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people (2 Corinthians 6:14-16).

Sodom and Gomorrah Dear Sir, I was very shocked to see in the October 2008 answers to letters that you do not believe homosexuality was the sin of

Sodom and Gomorrah. Genesis 19:5 states that crowds of men, old and young, clamored around Lots house demanding him to bring them out so they might know them, which means commit homosexuality. This is a very grievous sin. First Corinthians 6:18 warns: Flee fornication. Every sin that a man doeth is without the body; but he that committeth fornication sinneth against his own body. Like homosexuals today, they werent ashamed for everyone to know it. Isaiah 3:9: The show of their countenance doth witness against them; and they declare their sin as Sodom, they hide it not. Woe unto their soul! for they have rewarded evil unto themselves. They have awarded evil unto themselves. Doesnt medical science admit that is the cause of AIDS? God tells us in Leviticus 13:4 to quarantine anyone with a serious illness. If the first case of AIDS had been quarantined, the world would not be filled with it today. Obey God! You also state that many honorable, aged, and law-abiding citizens, as well as women and children and the unborn, were destroyed because their sin was grievous. Havent you read Genesis 18:20-33, which definitely states that even 10 righteous could not be found, or God would have spared Sodom. Today, homosexuals have their big gay pride parades where they declare their sin and hide it not, just like the ones in Sodom.

Homosexuals are told the lie that they are born that way. No one is born a homosexual, a liar, a thief or any of the other sins named throughout the Bible, but since the iniquity of our forefathers is passed down to the third and fourth generations, each one will have the tendency to commit the same sin(s) as our forefathers did (Deuteronomy 5:9). Moreover, God does not tempt anyone (James 1:13; 1 Corinthians 10:13). You mention the grace of God. Yes, it marvelous, unmerited, but free to any homosexual or any sinner, if they are like the good thief (malefactor, murderer), who confessed he was

wrong and turned to Jesus, calling Him, Lord (Master, Guide), remember me when you come into your kingdom, and Jesus promised him he would be with him in paradise that very day (Luke 23:38-43).
-Imelda Wheeler, Cornwall, ON

Answer: The only source we have is Holy Scripture. The reason for the destruction was not only that their sin is very grievous, but that they were also unrighteous. The fact that the only sin directly identified was homosexuality was not the exclusive cause of judgment. You will have to agree that the little children, even the unborn, were not guilty of that sin, but they too perished. What would have stopped the judgment?

Answer: Ten righteous people. God says, I will not destroy it for tens sake. We must be extremely cautious in identifying righteousness. Ask yourself the question: Would I have been one of the righteous ones? We all know there was none except the one who is called righteous, Lot. Lets assume total destructive judgment would come upon Cornwall, Ontario: Would you escape? If you say yes, then you will agree it is because of Gods grace alone. Many of us are making the error of underestimating our reliance upon Gods grace. Grace, grace! Gods grace! Grace that will pardon and cleanse within. Grace, grace! Gods grace! Grace that is greater than all our sin (Julia H. Johnston). MC

A new religion is sweeping the world. Already, massive conversions have taken place claiming upwards of four billion converts... among them many Christians.
It is a massive global boom in a materialistic-based faith--Mammonism--which is leading the world into an endtime global money snare. What form will this trap take and how can its grip be avoided? Can Christians prosper in the Lord's grace and live free of any complicity in this endtime agenda? This book answers these tough questions, dealing with the hooks and dangers of living during a time that the enemy is setting a deadly snare for the last-days world. Author Wilfred Hahn, international financial executive and publisher, documents and unmasks the rise of three very powerful false gods, a development prefigured in the Bible. As Hahn takes the reader behind the scenes into the money world, reader's eyes will be opened to many of Satan's ruses and global agendas opening today.
