Target Audience

This conference is designed for obstetricians, family medicine physicians, certified nurse midwives, nurse practitioners and other clinicians who participate in the care of pregnant patients.

Overview

This conference is designed to give a comprehensive update on contemporary issues in obstetrics. As the health care industry evolves, patients are expected to take a more active and educated role in their health and the choices available to them. Patients are demanding services that allow them more control over their health care experience. This conference was designed for both the physician and non-physician practitioner. We will provide updates on common obstetric topics such as pre-term labor, hemorrhage, and preeclampsia while also cover the more contemporary issues of water birth, integrative medicine and mental health management.

Objectives

Upon completion of the conference, participants should be able to:

Describe the normal physiology of birth and techniques to support mothers opting for low medical intervention births

Review current best practice in the management and treatment of common conditions that arise during pregnancy and post-partum

Discuss management and treatment options for emergent conditions that can develop during pregnancy and delivery.
