Winter Wildlife Hike

Set Saturday at BNC
Brukner Nature Center will have a Night Hike, Winter Wildlife,
on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 7 p.m. Every month BNC Naturalists plan a
nighttime adventure into the Brukner woodlands.
Some animals escape the lower temperatures of winter by migrating to warmer climates and others sleep through the cold by hibernating, but not all of Ohios wildlife avoids the snow. Many have special
adaptations that allow them to remain active during the challenging
conditions of winter.
Join us as we search for tracks and other signs left by winter
wildlife. Come dressed for a family-friendly hike as we discuss other
ways animals cope with wintry conditions.
This program is FREE and open to the public. BNC is located at

196th Anniversary
The community is invited to the 196th Anniversary Celebration
of Versailles Christian Church.
Identical Anniversary Celebration Services will be held Sunday,
Jan. 19, at 9 a.m. and 10:30 a.m., as praise will be given to God for
His faithfulness for the past 196 years and for His leading into the future.
The Anniversary Celebration Services will include uplifting praise
songs, special music by Eli Mann, and the challenging message by
Pastor Dennis Wheeler... Building A God-Honoring Church.
The exciting Kids Club for Grades 1-5, Kids Club Junior for preschool thru Kindergarten, and loving Nursery Care for birth thru age
two are provided at both worship services.

VCC held its first worship service in Versailles on a cold, wintry
day on January 18, 1818. Since that time, the church has ministered
to thousands of people locally and around the world, met many challenges, and has met in different locations. The current church building,
located at 105 W. Ward St., was built in 1921 and is presently undergoing extensive renovation including new classrooms for the childrens ministry, new offices, upgrading of electric, installation of a
new heating/air conditioning system, installation of new windows,
and a new multi-media system.

Grief Support Groups Set to Start

A series of grief support groups that was to have started earlier in January will have the first meeting on
Tuesday, Jan. 21, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m., at the Versailles Health Care Center, 200 Marker Rd., Versailles. The
initial session was rescheduled because of inclement weather.
The first session will focus on Post Holiday Grief. Through a collaborative effort, State of the Heart
Hospice bereavement team members will conduct the sessions which are free and open to anyone needing
support regardless of association with the health care center or State of the Heart.
Bereavement support is an important part of the care provided by State of the Heart. The non-profit
agency routinely schedules grief support groups throughout the year at its offices in Greenville, Coldwater,
and Portland. Staff at Versailles Health Care Center, well known for its rehabilitation care of long- term
residents, recognizes the need for grief support in the community and surrounding areas.
This year, there will be a series of grief support groups, called Healthy Grieving, held at the health
care center. The quarterly series will continue on March 18 with a session on Spirituality and Grief. On
June 17, the series topic will be Feelings and Grief, and on September 16, the topic will be Memorializing
Your Loved One. The final session will be held December 16 and will focus on Holiday Grief Support.
All sessions are from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and are held at the health care center.
Hospice bereavement specialists will facilitate all of the sessions. Jackie McEldowney, a Licensed Social
Worker with Versailles Health Care Center, will be in attendance and will assist the hospice team when
needed.
Registration is required to attend the free sessions. Please call Jackie McEldowney at 937-526-5570 to

We would like to thank everyone involved in making Covingtons
2nd Annual Free Christmas Dinner a great success. Some of you
helped set up, some served, some donated money, some prayed, and
some of you did all of the above.
It is so neat to live in such a special little town made up of people
who care about each other.
We would like to give a special thanks to the Covington Eagles for
being great hosts and to Robert and Robin at Stillwater Catering for
preparing a great meal!
