A Sister’s Prayer with Walda Collins

How do you prepare for your day? Are you sure you’re well prepared? We are reminded in scripture to Put on the Whole Armor of God! We sometimes have those days where we arise from a night’s sleep of tossing and turning, consumed with the pressures and affairs of the day ahead. Has that ever been you? Couldn’t sleep the night before because you had some big project, an important meeting, or possibly even delivering the unfortunate news to an employee; which caused you to flip, flop, toss, turn, and miss a peaceful sleep. As you rolled around irascibly awaiting the alarm clock to buzz, you rise up unrested and haphazardly begin your day with possibly a subconscious murmuring of prayer. What I have learned in the midst of haphazard prayers is to stop! Acknowledge God and give Him the full glory and honor that He so deserves. We can start our day by putting on The Whole Armor of God. It’s like getting dressed in the morning. We adorn ourselves from head to toe. The same is true with the armor of God. Let’s try putting these on daily: 1. The Helmet of Salvation, which guards our mind. 2. The Sword of the Spirit, this is the Word of God. 3. The Breastplate of Righteousness is keeping our hearts pure. 4. The Shield of Faith defends the whole body. 5. The Belt of Truth (Christ/the Word) holds our armor in place. 6. The Shoes (Peace & Preparation) allow us to walk without fear. 7. Prayer keeps us alert and in tune with the Holy Spirit. Every Christian needs to know how to be prepared to battle evil. Satan is clever and deceitful. Without guarding yourselves each and every day, you leave room for him to enter in. Start your day putting on The Whole Armor of God! Put on the whole armor of God so that you may be able to stand up against the Devil’s evil tricks. For we fight not against human beings, but against the wicked spiritual forces in the heavenly world, the rulers, authorities and powers of the dark-age. So put on God’s armor now. Then when the evil day comes you will be able to resist the enemy’s attacks; and after fighting to the end you will still hold your ground. So stand ready, with Truth as a belt tight around your waist, with Righteousness as your breastplate, and as your shoes, the readiness to announce the Good News of Peace. At all times carry Faith as a shield to be able to put out all the fires of the Evil One. And accept Salvation as a helmet and the Word of God as a sword, which the Spirit gives you. Ephesians 6:13-17
