DAYTON AUTHOR INKS THIRD BOOK DEAL AND RELEASES NEW NOVEL (Dayton) – Essence Bestselling author, Vanessa Miller, recently signed a book deal with her third major publisher, making her a multi-contracted author, with a new book, Forsaken, due out October 2009. Vanessa Miller ABOUT THE AUTHOR
Vanessa Miller of Dayton, Ohio, is a bestselling author, playwright, and motivational speaker. Her stage productions include: Get You Some Business, Don’t Turn Your Back on God, and Can’t You Hear Them Crying. Vanessa is currently in the process of turning the novels in the Rain series into stage productions. Vanessa has been writing since she was a young child. When she wasn’t writing poetry, short stories, stage plays and novels, reading great books consumed her free time. However, it wasn’t until she committed her life to the Lord in 1994 that she realized all gifts and anointing come from God. She then set out to write redemption stories that glorified God. To date, Vanessa has completed the Rain and Storm series. She is currently working on the Forsaken series, Second Chance at Love series and a single title, Long Time Coming. Vanessa believes that each book will touch readers across the country in a special way. It is, after all, her God-given destiny to write and produce plays and novels that bring deliverance to God’s people. These books have received rave reviews, winning Best Christian Fiction Awards and topping numerous Bestsellers’ lists.

INTERVIEW QUESTIONS
What kinds of people do you make the most difference for? Although I write Christian fiction, I believe that my stories are also for the unbeliever. For the person that has gone through so much in life that they are just about at the end of their rope, when they open a book by Vanessa Miller, I want them to find hope… a reason to go on and see what the next day will bring. Tell us about your passion for writing. Why do you write? What drives you I write because I believe that this is my calling in life. I truly believe that God gifted me with the ability to write stories that touch the hearts of readers, so I’m doing God’s will every time I put pen to paper. How did you come up with ideas for Forsaken? There have been so many stories in the media about pastors who have fallen, that I wanted to write a book that shows people what needs to happen when you find yourself in a fallen state. This book is not just for fallen pastors, but any Christian who falls – it’s a book that shows that you can get back up. Ultimately, what do you want readers to gain from Forsaken? The knowledge that family is important and that husbands and wives should do everything possible to preserve that unity. But I also want them to understand that God is a forgiving God. Who would this book really "speak to" and why? Anyone who has ever made a mistake and thought that they would never be forgiven. I also would love for fallen pastors and ministers to read Forsaken. What advice would you give a new writer? If I were advising someone who wanted to write, I would first suggest that they figure out why they want to write. Is it because they think they will make a lot of money? Or is it because writing is in their blood and he/she doesn’t know what they’ll do if they don’t write – then go after your dreams, write every day and network with other writers. But understand that most writers don’t earn enough money to do this thing full-time, but they keep doing it, because they love the written word.

Vanessa Miller
Writers are often encouraged to write what they know. Have you found that to be the case with your writing? I write restoration novels. In other words, I like to deal with imperfect characters and then show how God can turn their lives around. So, yeah, I guess I do write what I know, because I have definitely been redeemed by the blood of the Lamb. What's next for you? I’m really busy right now because I have four new releases coming out in 2010: • • • • April 2010, Yesterday’s Promise June 2010, Forgiven (sequel to Forsaken) October 2010, Tomorrow’s Promise November 2010, Long Time Coming
