COMELEC MEMO No.

201406 Dated 26 January 2014 TO: Loyola Schools Student Body FROM: Ateneo Commission on Elections RE: Campaign Paraphernalia Processing Deadline Greetings! Based on the Ateneo COMELEC Calendar, the deadline of campaign paraphernalia designs and plans for the candidates running for the upcoming General Elections is set tomorrow, Monday, January 27, 2013. Concerns regarding this deadline have been brought to our attention. To act upon these concerns, the Commission has decided to abolish the deadline set for campaign paraphernalia designs. The Commission will be approving campaign paraphernalia until the end of the Campaign Period which will be on February 11. The reasons for this change are as follows:   To allow the candidates more time to be able to make or think about their Campaign plans To allow candidates to express their stand on certain issues through their Campaign Paraphernalia, in cases wherein such unexpected issues arise within the two-week Campaign Period To allow the Campaign Period to be more dynamic – allowing for more exchanges and/or proliferation of ideas

However, despite the abolition of the deadline, the campaign paraphernalia should still go through the same approval process as stated in the Campaign Manual. All campaign paraphernalia should be approved and stamped by the Ateneo COMELEC. The Commission reserves the right to not allow the proliferation of Campaign Materials and Plans in specific cases i.e. they are imitated from another candidate, harmful or insulting in whatever way, etc. Also, the quantity ceilings for tangible campaign paraphernalia would still apply. Please be guided accordingly. Thank you! Sincerely, (Sgd.) Denise Anne G. Olondriz Chief Commissioner Commissioner for Communications (Sgd.) Joyce Angeli V.
