1 Introduction
The FlexiPacket Hub 2200/1200, as part of the Nokia Siemens Networks Carrier
Switches portfolio, allows a smooth integration in a Carrier Ethernet Transport
network, ensuring end to end network design, including advanced QoS,
Synchronization and OAM.
FlexiPacket Hub is the indoor unit of Nokia Siemens Networks FlexiPacket
Microwave system.

1.1 FlexiPacket Hub 2200
A2200 system is a modular system, as depicted in Fig. 1, based on a fixed main
board with Pluggable Interface Cards (IFCs), Power supply and TDM card.
The main board is the heart of the system: it contains the main system controller and
handles the traffic management.
Up to two IFCs can be used for interfacing different Ethernet and TDM ports.
Each interface card can be either pure Ethernet IFC (i.e. all Ethernet ports, copper or
fiber) or CES card (TDM traffic to MEF format processing unit).
A2200 IDU does not support Power over Ethernet on GbE ports.
Two Power Supply units are used for powering the system.
The TDM interface card is used for TDM interfaces connections (e.g. E1/T1).
A2200 is connected to a FlexiPacket Radio ODU by a GbE port (copper) on IFC.
Each card provides 8 GbE ports and up to two cards can be equipped in IDU,
resulting in 16 GbE ports totally.
Since one Ethernet port shall be reserved for line-up, maintenance and configuration
upgrade purposes, up to 15 FPR ODUs can be connected to a single A2200.

1.1.2 Power Supply
The A-2200 device can accommodate one or two of the following removable power
supplies:
Front-facing AC power supply
Rear-facing AC power supply
Front-facing DC power supply
Rear-facing DC power supply
When two power supplies are installed and enabled, each power supply provides half
of the A-2200s input current. If one power supply fails or is removed, the second
power supply automatically provides the full power load. All power supplies are hot
swappable.

1.2.1 Fan tray
The same fan tray, which contains four fans, features in both the modular and fixed
versions of the A-1200; it is used for cooling the chassis and is field-replaceable. If
one of the fans in the tray should fail, an alarm is generated. Even in the case of a
single fan failure, the A-1200 still supports all environmental requirements.

1.2.2 DC power supply
Two sources of 36 VDC to 75 VDC can be connected to the fixed DC power supply
unit, the source with the higher voltage feeds the unit and the second serves as the
redundant source.
The input voltage operating range is: 36 V 75 VDC. The maximum input current at
40.5 V is 2 A.

1.2.3 AC power supply (for modular version only)
An input voltage operating range of 85 VAC 265 VAC, 47 Hz 63 Hz can be
connected to the fixed AC power supply unit. The maximum input current at 85 VAC
is 1 A.

1.2.5 4-port STM-1/OC-3 CES access module
This module, which can only be used in the modular version, is designed to be
inserted into the modular slot of the A-1200. It provides a connection between the
customers TDM network and the Nokia Siemens Networks CET network by
supplying Circuit Emulation Services for STM-1/OC-3.

1.3 A 2200/A 1200 Quality of Service (QoS)
A2200 and A1200 support five different queues, each one associated to one of the
following Class of Service:
EF1 (Expedited Forwarding
EF Control and EF2
AF Control and AF1 (Assured Forwarding)
AF2
AF3 and BE (Best Effort)
In the ingress of an UNI/NNI port, traffic is marked/processed using 3 bits (PCP) that
define priority and color as reported in Fig. 45.

The characteristics of the classes are:
EF1 (Class 4)
Lowest delay and delay variation
No packet loss
Similar to DiffServ Expedited Forwarding
Usually reserved for Circuit Emulation Service (TDM services)
May be used for Voice
Highest strict priority
EF2 (Class 3)
Low delay, delay variation, and no packet loss
Used for Voice, Video, other real-time applications
Second strict priority
AF1 (Class 2)
Low packet loss
Reserved for internal network control traffic (OSPF, configuration,
download etc.)
AF2 (Class 1)
Lower delay and packet loss than Normal Data
Better excess BW treatment than Normal Data
Similar to DiffServ Assured Forwarding
AF3 (Class 0)
Not just Best effort may still have guaranteed BW
