In the twelfth *ear of Ahaz king of :udah began 2oshea the son of $lah to reign in Samaria o%er Israel, and reigned nine *ears. 11:22e did that which was e%il in the sight of 'ahweh, *et not as the kings of Israel who were before him. 11:&Against him came up Shalmaneser king of Ass*ria8 and 2oshea became his ser%ant, and brought him tribute. 11:,)he king of Ass*ria found conspirac* in 2oshea8 for he had sent messengers to So king of $g*pt, and offered no tribute to the king of Ass*ria, as he had done *ear b* *ear: therefore the king of Ass*ria shut him up, and bound him in prison. 11:.)hen the king of Ass*ria came up throughout all the land, and went up to Samaria, and besieged it three *ears. 11:0In the ninth *ear of 2oshea the king of Ass*ria took Samaria, and carried Israel awa* to Ass*ria, and placed them in 2alah, and on the 2abor, the ri%er of ozan, and in the cities of the Medes. 11:1It was so, because the children of Israel had sinned against 'ahweh their od, who brought them up out of the land of $g*pt from under the hand of ;haraoh king of $g*pt, and had feared other gods, 11:3and walked in the statutes of the nations, whom 'ahweh cast out from before the children of Israel, and of the kings of Israel, which the* made. 11:4)he children of Israel did secretl* things that were not right against 'ahweh their od: and the* built them high places in all their cities, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified cit*8 11:16and the* set them up pillars and Asherim on e%er* high hill, and under e%er* green tree8 11:11and there the* burnt incense in all the high places, as did the nations whom 'ahweh carried awa* before them8 and the* worked wicked things to pro%oke 'ahweh to anger8 11:12and the* ser%ed idols, whereof 'ahweh had said to them, 'ou shall not do this thing. 11:1&'et 'ahweh testified to Israel, and to :udah, b* e%er* prophet, and e%er* seer, sa*ing, )urn *ou from *our e%il wa*s, and keep m* commandments and m* statutes, according to all the law which I commanded *our fathers, and which I sent to *ou b* m* ser%ants the prophets. 11:1,-otwithstanding, the* would not hear, but hardened their neck, like the neck of their fathers, who didn9t belie%e in 'ahweh their od. 11:1.)he* re(ected his statutes, and his co%enant that he made with their fathers, and his testimonies

which he testified to them8 and the* followed %anit*, and became %ain, and went after the nations that were round about them, concerning whom 'ahweh had charged those who the* should not do like them. 11:10)he* forsook all the commandments of 'ahweh their od, and made them molten images, e%en two cal%es, and made an Asherah, and worshiped all the host of the sk*, and ser%ed "aal. 11:11 )he* caused their sons and their daughters to pass through the fire, and used di%ination and enchantments, and sold themsel%es to do that which was e%il in the sight of 'ahweh, to pro%oke him to anger. 11:13)herefore 'ahweh was %er* angr* with Israel, and remo%ed them out of his sight: there was none left but the tribe of :udah onl*. 11:14Also :udah didn9t keep the commandments of 'ahweh their od, but walked in the statutes of Israel which the* made. 11:26'ahweh re(ected all the seed of Israel, and afflicted them, and deli%ered them into the hand of spoilers, until he had cast them out of his sight. 11:217or he tore Israel from the house of =a%id8 and the* made :eroboam the son of -ebat king: and :eroboam dro%e Israel from following 'ahweh, and made them sin a great sin. 11:22)he children of Israel walked in all the sins of :eroboam which he did8 the* didn9t depart from them8 11:2&until 'ahweh remo%ed Israel out of his sight, as he spoke b* all his ser%ants the prophets. So Israel was carried awa* out of their own land to Ass*ria to this da*. 11:2,)he king of Ass*ria brought men from "ab*lon, and from 5uthah, and from A%%a, and from 2amath and Sephar%aim, and placed them in the cities of Samaria instead of the children of Israel8 and the* possessed Samaria, and li%ed in the cities of it. 11:2.So it was, at the beginning of their dwelling there, that the* didn9t fear 'ahweh: therefore 'ahweh sent lions among them, which killed some of them. 11:20)herefore the* spoke to the king of Ass*ria, sa*ing, )he nations which *ou ha%e carried awa*, and placed in the cities of Samaria, don9t know the law of the god of the land: therefore he has sent lions among them, and, behold, the* kill them, because the* don9t know the law of the god of the land. 11:21)hen the king of Ass*ria commanded, sa*ing, 5arr* there one of the priests whom *ou brought from there8 and let them go and dwell there, and let him teach them the law of the god of the land. 11:23So one of the priests whom the* had carried awa* from Samaria came and li%ed in "ethel, and taught them how the* should fear 'ahweh. 11:242owe%er e%er* nation made gods of their own, and put them in the houses of the high places which the Samaritans had made, e%er* nation in their cities in which the* li%ed. 11:&6)he men of

"ab*lon made Succoth?benoth, and the men of 5uth made -ergal, and the men of 2amath made Ashima, 11:&1and the A%%ites made -ibhaz and )artak8 and the Sephar%ites burnt their children in the fire to Adrammelech and Anammelech, the gods of Sephar%aim. 11:&2So the* feared 'ahweh, and made to them from among themsel%es priests of the high places, who sacrificed for them in the houses of the high places. 11:&&)he* feared 'ahweh, and ser%ed their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom the* had been carried awa*. 11:&,)o this da* the* do after the former manner: the* don9t fear 'ahweh, neither do the* after their statutes, or after their ordinances, or after the law or after the commandment which 'ahweh commanded the children of :acob, whom he named Israel8 11:&.with whom 'ahweh had made a co%enant, and charged them, sa*ing, 'ou shall not fear other gods, nor bow *oursel%es to them, nor ser%e them, nor sacrifice to them: 11:&0but 'ahweh, who brought *ou up out of the land of $g*pt with great power and with an outstretched arm, him shall *ou fear, and to him shall *ou bow *oursel%es, and to him shall *ou sacrifice: 11:&1and the statutes and the ordinances, and the law and the commandment, which he wrote for *ou, *ou shall obser%e to do fore%ermore8 and *ou shall not fear other gods: 11:&3and the co%enant that I ha%e made with *ou *ou shall not forget8 neither shall *ou fear other gods: 11:&4but 'ahweh *our od shall *ou fear8 and he will deli%er *ou out of the hand of all *our enemies. 11:,6 2owe%er the* did not listen, but the* did after their former manner. 11:,1 So these nations feared 'ahweh, and ser%ed their engra%ed images8 their children likewise, and their children9s children, as did their fathers, so do the* to this da*.
13:1

-ow it happened in the third *ear of 2oshea son of $lah king of Israel, that 2ezekiah the son of Ahaz king of :udah began to reign. 13:2 2e was twent*?fi%e *ears old when he began to reign8 and he reigned twent*?nine *ears in :erusalem: and his mother9s name was Abi the daughter of #echariah. 13:&2e did that which was right in the e*es of 'ahweh, according to all that =a%id his father had done. 13:, 2e remo%ed the high places, and broke the pillars, and cut down the Asherah: and he broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made8 for to those da*s the children of Israel did burn incense to it8 and he called it -ehushtan. 13:.2e trusted in 'ahweh, the od of Israel8 so that after him was none like him among all the kings of :udah, nor among them that were before him. 13:07or he (oined with

'ahweh8 he didn9t depart from following him, but kept his commandments, which 'ahweh commanded Moses. 13:1'ahweh was with him8 where%er he went forth he prospered: and he rebelled against the king of Ass*ria, and didn9t ser%e him. 13:32e struck the ;hilistines to aza and the borders of it, from the tower of the watchmen to the fortified cit*. 13:4It happened in the fourth *ear of king 2ezekiah, which was the se%enth *ear of 2oshea son of $lah king of Israel, that Shalmaneser king of Ass*ria came up against Samaria, and besieged it. 13:16At the end of three *ears the* took it: in the siBth *ear of 2ezekiah, which was the ninth *ear of 2oshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. 13:11)he king of Ass*ria carried Israel awa* to Ass*ria, and put them in 2alah, and on the 2abor, the ri%er of ozan, and in the cities of the Medes, 13:12because the* didn9t obe* the %oice of 'ahweh their od, but transgressed his co%enant, e%en all that Moses the ser%ant of 'ahweh commanded, and would not hear it, nor do it. 13:1&-ow in the fourteenth *ear of king 2ezekiah did Sennacherib king of Ass*ria come up against all the fortified cities of :udah, and took them. 13:1,2ezekiah king of :udah sent to the king of Ass*ria to Cachish, sa*ing, I ha%e offended8 return from me: that which *ou put on me will I bear. )he king of Ass*ria appointed to 2ezekiah king of :udah three hundred talents of sil%er and thirt* talents of gold. 13:1. 2ezekiah ga%e him all the sil%er that was found in the house of 'ahweh, and in the treasures of the king9s house. 13:10At that time did 2ezekiah cut off the gold from the doors of the temple of 'ahweh, and from the pillars which 2ezekiah king of :udah had o%erlaid, and ga%e it to the king of Ass*ria. 13:11)he king of Ass*ria sent )artan and Dabsaris and Dabshakeh from Cachish to king 2ezekiah with a great arm* to :erusalem. )he* went up and came to :erusalem. /hen the* were come up, the* came and stood b* the conduit of the upper pool, which is in the highwa* of the fuller9s field. 13:13/hen the* had called to the king, there came out to them $liakim the son of 2ilkiah, who was o%er the household, and Shebnah the scribe, and :oah the son of Asaph the recorder. 13:14Dabshakeh said to them, Sa* *ou now to 2ezekiah, )hus sa*s the great king, the king of Ass*ria, /hat confidence is this in which *ou trust+ 13:26'ou sa* Ebut the* are but %ain wordsF, There is counsel and strength for the war. -ow on whom do *ou trust, that *ou ha%e rebelled against me+ 13:21-ow, behold, *ou trust on the staff of this bruised reed, e%en on $g*pt8 whereon if a man lean, it will go into his hand, and pierce it: so is ;haraoh king of $g*pt to all who trust on him. 13:22"ut if *ou tell me, /e trust in

'ahweh our od8 isn9t that he whose high places and whose altars 2ezekiah has taken awa*, and has said to :udah and to :erusalem, 'ou shall worship before this altar in :erusalem+ 13:2&-ow therefore, ;lease gi%e pledges to m* master the king of Ass*ria, and I will gi%e *ou two thousand horses, if *ou are able on *our part to set riders on them. 13:2,2ow then can *ou turn awa* the face of one captain of the least of m* master9s ser%ants, and put *our trust on $g*pt for chariots and for horsemen+ 13:2.Am I now come up without 'ahweh against this place to destro* it+ 'ahweh said to me, o up against this land, and destro* it. 13:20)hen said $liakim the son of 2ilkiah, and Shebnah, and :oah, to Dabshakeh, ;lease speak to *our ser%ants in the S*rian language8 for we understand it: and don9t speak with us in the :ews9 language, in the ears of the people who are on the wall. 13:21"ut Dabshakeh said to them, 2as m* master sent me to *our master, and to *ou, to speak these words+ 2asn9t he sent me to the men who sit on the wall, to eat their own dung, and to drink their own water with *ou+ 13:23)hen Dabshakeh stood, and cried with a loud %oice in the :ews9 language, and spoke, sa*ing, 2ear *ou the word of the great king, the king of Ass*ria. 13:24)hus sa*s the king, =on9t let 2ezekiah decei%e *ou8 for he will not be able to deli%er *ou out of his hand: 13:&6 neither let 2ezekiah make *ou trust in 'ahweh, sa*ing, 'ahweh will surel* deli%er us, and this cit* shall not be gi%en into the hand of the king of Ass*ria. 13:&1=on9t listen to 2ezekiah: for thus sa*s the king of Ass*ria, Make *our peace with me, and come out to me8 and eat *ou e%er*one of his %ine, and e%er*one of his fig tree, and e%er*one drink the waters of his own cistern8 13:&2Hntil I come and take *ou awa* to a land like *our own land, a land of grain and new wine, a land of bread and %ine*ards, a land of oli%e trees and of hone*, that *ou ma* li%e, and not die: and don9t listen to 2ezekiah, when he persuades *ou, sa*ing, 'ahweh will deli%er us. 13:&&2as an* of the gods of the nations e%er deli%ered his land out of the hand of the king of Ass*ria+ 13:&,/here are the gods of 2amath, and of Arpad+ where are the gods of Sephar%aim, of 2ena, and I%%ah+ ha%e the* deli%ered Samaria out of m* hand+ 13:&./ho are the* among all the gods of the countries, that ha%e deli%ered their countr* out of m* hand, that 'ahweh should deli%er :erusalem out of m* hand+ 13:&0"ut the people held their peace, and answered him not a word8 for the king9s commandment was, sa*ing, =on9t answer him. 13:&1)hen came $liakim the son of 2ilkiah, who was o%er the household, and Shebna

the scribe, and :oah the son of Asaph the recorder, to 2ezekiah with their clothes torn, and told him the words of Dabshakeh.
14:1

It happened, when king 2ezekiah heard it, that he tore his clothes, and co%ered himself with sackcloth, and went into the house of 'ahweh. 14:22e sent $liakim, who was o%er the household, and Shebna the scribe, and the elders of the priests, co%ered with sackcloth, to Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz. 14:&)he* said to him, )hus sa*s 2ezekiah, )his da* is a da* of trouble, and of rebuke, and of re(ection8 for the children are come to the birth, and there is not strength to bring forth. 14:,It ma* be 'ahweh *our od will hear all the words of Dabshakeh, whom the king of Ass*ria his master has sent to def* the li%ing od, and will rebuke the words which 'ahweh *our od has heard. )herefore lift up *our pra*er for the remnant that is left. 14:.So the ser%ants of king 2ezekiah came to Isaiah. 14:0Isaiah said to them, )hus shall *ou tell *our master, )hus sa*s 'ahweh, =on9t be afraid of the words that *ou ha%e heard, with which the ser%ants of the king of Ass*ria ha%e blasphemed me. 14:1"ehold, I will put a spirit in him, and he shall hear news, and shall return to his own land8 and I will cause him to fall b* the sword in his own land. 14:3So Dabshakeh returned, and found the king of Ass*ria warring against Cibnah8 for he had heard that he was departed from Cachish. 14:4/hen he heard sa* of )irhakah king of $thiopia, "ehold, he is come out to fight against *ou, he sent messengers again to 2ezekiah, sa*ing, 14:16 )hus shall *ou speak to 2ezekiah king of :udah, sa*ing, =on9t let *our od in whom *ou trust decei%e *ou, sa*ing, :erusalem shall not be gi%en into the hand of the king of Ass*ria. 14:11"ehold, *ou ha%e heard what the kings of Ass*ria ha%e done to all lands, b* destro*ing them utterl*: and shall *ou be deli%ered+ 14:122a%e the gods of the nations deli%ered them, which m* fathers ha%e destro*ed, ozan, and 2aran, and Dezeph, and the children of $den that were in )elassar+ 14:1&/here is the king of 2amath, and the king of Arpad, and the king of the cit* of Sephar%aim, of 2ena, and I%%ah+ 14:1, 2ezekiah recei%ed the letter from the hand of the messengers, and read it8 and 2ezekiah went up to the house of 'ahweh, and spread it before 'ahweh. 14:1.2ezekiah pra*ed before 'ahweh, and said, 'ahweh, the od of Israel, who sit above the cherubim, *ou are the od, e%en *ou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth8 *ou ha%e made hea%en and earth. 14:10Incline *our ear, 'ahweh, and hear8 open *our e*es, 'ahweh, and see8 and hear the words of Sennacherib,

with which he has sent him to def* the li%ing od. 14:11Af a truth, 'ahweh, the kings of Ass*ria ha%e laid waste the nations and their lands, 14:13and ha%e cast their gods into the fire8 for the* were no gods, but the work of men9s hands, wood and stone8 therefore the* ha%e destro*ed them. 14:14-ow therefore, 'ahweh our od, sa%e *ou us, I beg *ou, out of his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth ma* know that *ou 'ahweh are od alone. 14:26)hen Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to 2ezekiah, sa*ing, )hus sa*s 'ahweh, the od of Israel, /hereas *ou ha%e pra*ed to me against Sennacherib king of Ass*ria, I ha%e heard you. 14:21)his is the word that 'ahweh has spoken concerning him: )he %irgin daughter of #ion has despised *ou and laughed *ou to scorn8 the daughter of :erusalem has shaken her head at *ou. 14:22/hom ha%e *ou defied and blasphemed+ and against whom ha%e *ou eBalted *our %oice and lifted up *our e*es on high+ even against the 2ol* Ane of Israel. 14:2&"* *our messengers *ou ha%e defied the Cord, and ha%e said, /ith the multitude of m* chariots am I come up to the height of the mountains, to the innermost parts of Cebanon8 and I will cut down the tall cedars of it, and the choice fir trees of it8 and I will enter into his farthest lodging? place, the forest of his fruitful field. 14:2,I ha%e dug and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of m* feet will I dr* up all the ri%ers of $g*pt. 14:2. 2a%en9t *ou heard how I ha%e done it long ago, and formed it of ancient times+ now ha%e I brought it to pass, that it should be *ours to la* waste fortified cities into ruinous heaps. 14:20)herefore their inhabitants were of small power, the* were disma*ed and confounded8 the* were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the housetops, and as grain blasted before it is grown up. 14:21"ut I know *our sitting down, and *our going out, and *our coming in, and *our raging against me. 14:23"ecause of *our raging against me, and because *our arrogance is come up into m* ears, therefore will I put m* hook in *our nose, and m* bridle in *our lips, and I will turn *ou back b* the wa* b* which *ou came. 14:24)his shall be the sign to *ou: 'ou shall eat this *ear that which grows of itself, and in the second *ear that which springs of the same8 and in the third *ear sow *ou, and reap, and plant %ine*ards, and eat the fruit of it. 14:&6)he remnant that has escaped of the house of :udah shall again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. 14:&17or out of :erusalem shall go forth a remnant, and out of Mount #ion those who shall escape: the zeal of 'ahweh shall perform this. 14:&2)herefore thus sa*s 'ahweh concerning the king of Ass*ria, 2e shall not come

to this cit*, nor shoot an arrow there, neither shall he come before it with shield, nor cast up a mound against it. 14:&&"* the wa* that he came, b* the same shall he return, and he shall not come to this cit*, sa*s 'ahweh. 14:&,7or I will defend this cit* to sa%e it, for m* own sake, and for m* ser%ant =a%id9s sake. 14:&.It happened that night, that the angel of 'ahweh went forth, and struck in the camp of the Ass*rians one hundred eight*?fi%e thousand: and when men arose earl* in the morning, behold, these were all dead bodies. 14:&0So Sennacherib king of Ass*ria departed, and went and returned, and li%ed at -ine%eh. 14:&1It happened, as he was worshipping in the house of -isroch his god, that Adrammelech and Sharezer struck him with the sword: and the* escaped into the land of Ararat. $sar 2addon his son reigned in his place.
26:1

In those da*s was 2ezekiah sick to death. Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him, and said to him, )hus sa*s 'ahweh, Set *our house in order: for *ou shall die, and not li%e. 26:2)hen he turned his face to the wall, and pra*ed to 'ahweh, sa*ing, 26:&Demember now, 'ahweh, I beg *ou, how I ha%e walked before *ou in truth and with a perfect heart, and ha%e done that which is good in *our sight. 2ezekiah wept sore. 26:,It happened, before Isaiah was gone out into the middle part of the cit*, that the word of 'ahweh came to him, sa*ing, 26:.)urn back, and tell 2ezekiah the prince of m* people, )hus sa*s 'ahweh, the od of =a%id *our father, I ha%e heard *our pra*er, I ha%e seen *our tears: behold, I will heal *ou8 on the third da* *ou shall go up to the house of 'ahweh. 26:0I will add to *our da*s fifteen *ears8 and I will deli%er *ou and this cit* out of the hand of the king of Ass*ria8 and I will defend this cit* for m* own sake, and for m* ser%ant =a%id9s sake. 26:1Isaiah said, )ake a cake of figs. )he* took and laid it on the boil, and he reco%ered. 26:32ezekiah said to Isaiah, /hat shall be the sign that 'ahweh will heal me, and that I shall go up to the house of 'ahweh the third da*+ 26:4Isaiah said, )his shall be the sign to *ou from 'ahweh, that 'ahweh will do the thing that he has spoken: shall the shadow go forward ten steps, or go back ten steps+ 26:162ezekiah answered, It is a light thing for the shadow to decline ten steps: na*, but let the shadow return backward ten steps. 26:11 Isaiah the prophet cried to 'ahweh8 and he brought the shadow ten steps backward, b* which it had gone down on the dial of Ahaz. 26:12 At that time "erodach?baladan the son of "aladan, king of "ab*lon, sent letters and a present to 2ezekiah8 for he had heard that

2ezekiah had been sick. 26:1&2ezekiah listened to them, and shown them all the house of his precious things, the sil%er, and the gold, and the spices, and the precious oil, and the house of his armor, and all that was found in his treasures: there was nothing in his house, nor in all his dominion, that 2ezekiah didn9t show them. 26:1,)hen came Isaiah the prophet to king 2ezekiah, and said to him, /hat said these men+ and from whence came the* to *ou+ 2ezekiah said, )he* are come from a far countr*, e%en from "ab*lon. 26:1.2e said, /hat ha%e the* seen in *our house+ 2ezekiah answered, All that is in m* house ha%e the* seen: there is nothing among m* treasures that I ha%e not shown them. 26:10Isaiah said to 2ezekiah, 2ear the word of 'ahweh. 26:11 "ehold, the da*s come, that all that is in *our house, and that which *our fathers ha%e laid up in store to this da*, shall be carried to "ab*lon: nothing shall be left, sa*s 'ahweh. 26:13Af *our sons who shall issue from *ou, whom *ou shall father, shall the* take awa*8 and the* shall be eunuchs in the palace of the king of "ab*lon. 26:14 )hen said 2ezekiah to Isaiah, ood is the word of 'ahweh which *ou ha%e spoken. 2e said moreo%er, Isn9t it so, if peace and truth shall be in m* da*s+ 26:26-ow the rest of the acts of 2ezekiah, and all his might, and how he made the pool, and the conduit, and brought water into the cit*, aren9t the* written in the book of the chronicles of the kings of :udah+ 26:212ezekiah slept with his fathers8 and Manasseh his son reigned in his place.
