Cole Schwartz Student Body Treasurer Chairman, Student Senate Student Fees Allocation Committee <a href=sfac@drake.edu 2014-2015 ANNUAL BUDGET PROCESS OVERVIEW The annual budget process, in accordance with the Student Handbook, is open to all organizations approved to receive an annual budget by Student Senate. The Student Fees Allocation Committee, which is responsible for making budget recommendations to Student Senate, handles the budget process. We hope that the electronic annual budget request form, hearings process, and opportunity to review the preliminary draft of the budget over Spring Break will ensure a fair, open, and smooth process. Below is a brief timeline and list of key points regarding the 2014 annual budget process: Timeline Date Event Wed., Jan. 29 Mandatory meeting for all budgeted organizations at Organizational Council Fri., Feb. 14  Budget request forms due from all organizations by 5:00 PM o o Electronic submission via e-mail to sfac@drake.edu Paper copy submission to Student Body Treasurer Cole Schwartz ’s mailbox in the  Student Life Center Organization must sign up for a hearing time on the sign-up sheet available in the Student Life Center Tue., Feb. 18, and Tue., Feb. 25 Budget hearings conducted by SFAC: Each organization will have roughly 7 minutes to present and explain its budget request, and SFAC members will have roughly 8 minutes to ask questions of the organization, for a total hearing length of 15 minutes Tue., Mar. 11 Preliminary draft of budget will be e-mailed to annually-funded organizations for review Fri. Mar. 14 Appeal requests must be received via e-mail ( sfac@drake.edu ) by 5:00 PM to schedule an appeal hearing Sat. Mar. 15 to Sun., Mar. 23 Spring Break Tue., Mar. 25 Appeal hearings conducted by SFAC as needed Fri., March Final draft of budget will be e-mailed to annually funded organizations for review 28th Thu., Apr. 3 Budget will be introduced on floor of Student Senate Thu., Apr. 10 Budget will be voted on by Student Senate Key Points Budget forms will be e-mailed to annually-funded organizations or can be downloaded from the Senate website ( http://drakesenate.com/resources/request-forms/ ) . Budget forms must be submitted electronically to sfac@drake.edu . ALL DEADLINES MUST BE MET. EXCEPTIONS WILL NOT BE MADE. LATE SUBMISSIONS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED. This is done to assure fairness in all budget proceedings and to ensure the schedule is not complicated by late submissions. All organizations will be assigned an SFAC liaison who will serve as their contact person on the committee. Your SFAC liaison will guide your organization through the budget process and answer any questions that may arise.
