Better Futures Local Solutions

Welcome to the first edition of the Wyong Local Advisory Group (LAG) E News. Our aim is to have a quarterly edition to assist in keeping you all up to date with the Better Futures Local Solutions initiative in Wyong. We hope you find the information useful!

Well what a year! So much has happened with the Better Futures Local Solutions (BFLS) initiative in 2012, heres just a snapshot: Family joblessness - Promoting pathways to employment seminar In August we hosted a Family Joblessness forum, where over 100 guests had an opportunity to hear about the latest research in working with families experiencing joblessness and from leading employment experts. The seminar also provided a valuable opportunity for key organisations working in Wyong to come together to talk about what is happening locally and discuss how we can all work together to support families. Social Inclusion Board visit We were very privileged to have the Australian Social inclusion Board visit the Wyong Shire in November. It was a great opportunity to demonstrate some of the challenges and opportunities of the national place-based measures in practice. In a letter to the LAG, the Chair of the National Social Inclusion Board, Ms Lin Hatfield Dodds wrote, It is exciting to meet such an engaged and passionate group of people working in, and for, their community. For further information about the Social inclusion board go to:

Launch of Strategic Plan To coincide with the visit to the Region from the Social inclusion Board, the LAG launched its Strategic Plan.
