Oracle as data source
2racle as data so rce this allows "li#view reports to directl$ access a database data-so rce li#e oracle data so rce . "li#view, b$ de!a lt, loads all re5 ired data p-!ront into its own in-memor$ col mn-store database, b t oracle as a data so rce !eat re allows it to in addition retrieve data !rom an S"4 data so rce, on-demand, to s pplement this in-memor$ dataset. This sho ld allow larger datasets to be accessed !rom within "li#view reports 7a#es corporate data easier !or b siness sers to access. This !eat re provides a common in!rastr ct re !or prod cing and delivering enterprise reports, scorecards, dashboards, ad-hoc anal$sis, and 24+P anal$sis Incl des rich vis ali8ation, interactive dashboards, a vast range o! animated charting options, 24+P-st$le interactions and innovative search, and actionable collaboration capabilities to increase ser adoption and red ces cost with a proven 9eb-based service-oriented architect re that integrates with e'isting IT in!rastr ct re.

Oracle database
+n 2racle database is a collection o! data treated as a nit. The p rpose o! a database is to store and retrieve related in!ormation. 9e ta#e 2racle as a !ront end tool and "li#)iew as a bac# end tool !or generate the report b$ sing the inter!ace oledb.

OLE DB
24E %B :2b;ect 4in#ing and Embedding, %atabase, sometimes written as 24E%B or 24E-%B<, an +PI designed b$ 7icroso!t, allows accessing data !rom a variet$ o! so rces in a ni!orm manner.

Require Prerequisite
These are the prere5 isite !or creating connection between oracle data so rce and "li#)iew.

-. 2racle -,g or more then -, g edition sho ld installed in $o r machine, Beca se this version wor#s with 2*I and 24E%B, $o need both .
.. 2racle client -, g or more then -, g sho ld installed in $o machine.

Oracle Client:
The client is sed to connect to 2racle databases r nning on other machines. In 2racle -,g edition it alread$ installed with the oracle set p b t in 2racle --g we have to install the client separatel$.

OCI:
The 2racle *all Inter!ace :2*I< consists o! a set o! *-lang age so!tware +PIs which provide an inter!ace to the 2racle database.2*I o!!ers a proced ral +PI !or not onl$ per!orming certain database administration tas#s :s ch as s$stem start p and sh tdown<, b t also !or sing P4=S"4 or S"4 to 5 er$, access, and manip late data. The 2*I librar$, based on 2racle>s ndoc mented ?ser Programmatic Inter!ace :?PI<, acts as an @interpreter@ between applications and the low-level database networ# protocol. The 2*I connection protocol is bac#wards compatible to Ai when !irst implemented b$ 2racle. ?se the most c rrent connector !rom 2racle which incl des the c rrent 7S 2S 24E %B !rom 2racle and incl des 2racle’s 2*I. This will create the best connection !or the data p lls. www.bispsolutions.com www.bisptrainigs.com www.hyperionguru.com Page 3

Connection
I! $o ! l!ill all the re5 irements then $o can move thro gh establish the connection o! "li#)iew with oracle. Step -< 2pen the "li#)iew app and give the name SalesBHistor$ or $o wants to give. Step .< Then go to the script Editor window and chec# the database inter!ace sho ld be 24E%B and then clic# on the connect option.

Step 3<This will open the %ata 4in# Properties window this having the set o! providers choose the provider >2racle provider !or 24E%B> then clic# the Ce't option.
