There is more hope for a fool than for him.

moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead.
4
Anyone who is among the living has hope —even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!

Isaiah 40

Isaiah 49

They will bow down before you with their faces to the ground; they will lick the dust at your feet.
Then you will know that I am the LORD; those who hope in me will not be disappointed."

For our backsliding is great; we have sinned against you.

O Hope of Israel, its Savior in times of distress,
why are you like a stranger in the land, like a traveler who stays only a night?

Why are you like a man taken by surprise, like a warrior powerless to save?
You are among us, O LORD, and we bear your name; do not forsake us!

2
Jeremiah 14
22
Do any of the worthless idols of the nations bring rain?
Do the skies themselves send down showers?

This is what the LORD says: "When seventy years are completed for Babylon, I will come to you and fulfill
my gracious promise to bring you back to this place. 11 For I know the plans I have for you," declares the
LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. 12 Then you will call
upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.

Matthew 12
20
A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out,
till he leads justice to victory.
21
In his name the nations will put their hope."

Acts 2
25
David said about him: " 'I saw the Lord always before me. Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.
26
Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will live in hope,
27
because you will not abandon me to the grave, nor will you let your Holy One see decay.

Acts 23
5
Paul replied, "Brothers, I did not realize that he was the high priest; for it is written: 'Do not speak evil about
the ruler of your people.'"
6
Then Paul, knowing that some of them were Sadducees and the others Pharisees, called out in the
Sanhedrin, "My brothers, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee. I stand on trial because of my hope in the
resurrection of the dead." 7When he said this, a dispute broke out between the Pharisees and the Sadducees,
and the assembly was divided.

Acts 24
14
However, I admit that I worship the God of our fathers as a follower of the Way, which they call a sect. I
believe everything that agrees with the Law and that is written in the Prophets, 15and I have the same hope in
God as these men, that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked. 16So I strive always
to keep my conscience clear before God and man.

Acts 26
6
And now it is because of my hope in what God has promised our fathers that I am on trial today. 7This is the
promise our twelve tribes are hoping to see fulfilled as they earnestly serve God day and night. O king, it is
because of this hope that the Jews are accusing me. 8Why should any of you consider it incredible that God
raises the dead?

Acts 28
19
But when the Jews objected, I was compelled to appeal to Caesar—not that I had any charge to bring
against my own people. 20For this reason I have asked to see you and talk with you. It is because of the hope
of Israel that I am bound with this chain."

Romans 4
17
As it is written: "I have made you a father of many nations.” He is our father in the sight of God, in whom
he believed—the God who gives life to the dead and calls things that are not as though they were.
18
Against all hope, Abraham in hope believed and so became the father of many nations, just as it had been
said to him, "So shall your offspring be." 19Without weakening in his faith, he faced the fact that his body was
as good as dead—since he was about a hundred years old—and that Sarah's womb was also dead.

Romans 5
1
Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus
Christ, 2through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice
in the hope of the glory of God. 3Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that
suffering produces perseverance; 4perseverance, character; and character, hope. 5And hope does not
disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us.

Romans 8
18
I consider that our present sufferings are not worth comparing with the glory that will be revealed in us.
19
The creation waits in eager expectation for the sons of God to be revealed. 20For the creation was subjected
to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope 21that the creation
itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the glorious freedom of the children of God.
22
We know that the whole creation has been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to the present time.
23
Not only so, but we ourselves, who have the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as we wait eagerly for
our adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. 24For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is

4
25
no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for
it patiently.

Romans 15
11
And again, "Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles, and sing praises to him, all you peoples.

"12And again, Isaiah says, "The Root of Jesse will spring up, one who will arise to rule over the nations; the
Gentiles will hope in him."
13
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope
by the power of the Holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 13
6
Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7It always protects, always trusts, always hopes,
always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 15
12
But if it is preached that Christ has been raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no
resurrection of the dead? 13If there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. 14And
if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith. 15More than that, we are then
found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that he raised Christ from the dead.
But he did not raise him if in fact the dead are not raised. 16For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not
been raised either. 17And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins. 18Then
those also who have fallen asleep in Christ are lost. 19If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be
pitied more than all men.
20
But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep.

Colossians 1
3
We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, 4because we have heard of
your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints— 5the faith and love that spring from the
hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel
6
that has come to you.
21
Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. 22But
now he has reconciled you by Christ's physical body through death to present you holy in his sight, without
blemish and free from accusation— 23if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the
hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature
under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.

1 Timothy 1
1
Paul, an apostle of Christ Jesus by the command of God our Savior and of Christ Jesus our hope,
2
To Timothy my true son in the faith:
Grace, mercy and peace from God the Father and Christ Jesus our Lord.
5
Hebrews 6
18
God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled
to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. 19We have this hope as an anchor for the
soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20where Jesus, who went before us, has
entered on our behalf.

Hebrews 10
19
Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, 20by a new
and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, 21and since we have a great priest over the
house of God, 22let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts
sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. 23Let us hold
unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. 24And let us consider how we may spur
one another on toward love and good deeds. 25Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of
doing, but let us encourage one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

1 Peter 1
3
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a
living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4and into an inheritance that can never
perish, spoil or fade—kept in heaven for you, 5who through faith are shielded by God's power until the coming
of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 Peter 3
15
But in your hearts set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you
to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect, 16keeping a clear
conscience, so that those who speak maliciously against your good behavior in Christ may be ashamed of
their slander.
