RECENT EXPERIENCE
Scoop News Group
Associate Managing Editor; Copy and Production Editor
Washington, D.C., Oct. 2014-Present
I line and copy edit three publications on government information
technology: FedScoop, StateScoop and EdScoop. My experience includes
working with freelancers, and coaching writers and interns while writing
three stories a week on federal IT. During our publication’s redesign, I
helped prepare the site for the launch, and established and enforced best
practices for photos and headlines. I also supervised the copy cycles for
our Women in Technology and Coolest Jobs series.

Freelancer
For NPR.org, the Washington Post, SmithsonianMag.com, Chicago
Public Radio, CQ’s Politics in America, AAA Living and the News-Gazette
(Champaign, Ill.).

Greenwire/E&E Publishing
Copy Editor; Reporter
Washington, D.C., Feb. 2012 - Sept. 2014
I edited stories for five daily publications. I also covered energy efficiency
and green building for an independent, nonpartisan publication on
energy and environment policy.

NPR Digital News
Rundown Editor/EA; Assistant Producer (Temporary)
Washington, D.C., Jan. 2010 - Feb. 2012
I edited and distributed the All Things Considered rundown, which is
sent to member stations across the country to inform directors what
stories and segments are planned for each feed. I also wrote radio
promos and headlines corresponding to stories on the show.
As a producer, I built Web pages, sidebars and multimedia content for
NPR stories. I also wrote about 45 stories for NPR’s health blog Shots
on topics from women’s health to state-level policy.
