Little Known Facts – Philippa Schuyler
Philippa Schuyler was a pianist child prodigy, born in the 1930’s. She composed a famous piece called “Harlem’s Mozart: The Shirley Temple of American Negroes.” She was reading and writing by age two. By the time she was four years old, she was playing her own piano compositions on the local radio station. With an IQ of 180 at seven, Philippa graduated from elementary school at ten years old. At the young age of 13, she had written 100 music compositions for orchestra. Her first piece, “Manhattan Nocturne”, was performed by the New York Philharmonic in 1944.

**Dixie Youth League Registration Sign-ups: Saturday, Feb. 8 & Saturday, Feb. 22 from 11:00am-1:00pm at each local
field in Eastpoint, Apalach, and Carrabelle. There will also be registration every Tuesday & Thursday in February from 5:30-7:00pm at each local field in Eastpoint, Apalach, and Carrabelle.

**Donations of “Gently Used Coats”: If anyone has coats no longer needed, please consider donating them to the school.
The coats would be made available for students who come to school without coats on cold days or for students to keep if needed. Coats should be turned in to Wanda Teat for elementary students or to Countryman, Solomon, or DeVaughn for upper grades.

The GED Test will not administered by the Franklin County School District until further notice. For alternative testing locations, contact Maxine Creamer at the Literacy Center at 670-4481. Franklin County School District is no longer required by the FL. Dept. of Education to keep GED records.
